Six busted in storage thefts FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office arrested six people in connection to storage unit burglaries. In addition to three storage unit thefts, law enforcement found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug-related objects during the bust of one of the suspects, said Sheriff Duane Piper. Arrested during this investigation were: Joshua L. Williams, 20, of Sugar Hill, who was charged with three counts of burglary in the second degree, three counts of felony theft and criminal trespass, in addition to numerous traffic offenses.

Network, showcase, display Chamber event draws 62 local businesses By ALDO NAHED aldo@forsythherald.com FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Business Showcase on Feb. 20. About 62 businesses were showcased at the event, which took place at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Cum-

ming. “Many chamber members gave positive feedback feeling like the event was a great balance between our Business Expo and our monthly Business After Hours events,” said Laura Stewart, a chamber spokeswoman. Businesses networked, displayed their services and learned about other local businesses. Joy Riddle, retail banking manager at Community and Southern Bank on Market Place Boulevard, said she and her staff enjoy coming to the event because it’s a great opportunity to network.

“It’s always good to be out and get your name out,” added Lorainne Clark, a branch sales manager at Community and Southern Bank. “And to promote our free checking.” U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall visited with the small business owners at the showcase and praised them for creating local jobs. “I wish everybody in Washington could see what a real community looks like; it’s in these people running these tables,” Woodall said. “These folks create jobs. It’s not easy – there’s a lot of blood, sweat and hours, and these are the folks who get it done.”

Ashley C. Laird, 26, of Alpharetta, was charged with three counts of burglary in the second degree, three counts of felony theft and one count of criminal trespass. Cody J. Beavers, 21, of Gainesville, was charged with theft by receiving, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects and felony obstruction. Amber L.
