MILTON, Ga. – After several teenagers took their own lives last school year, Fulton County teamed up with the Ga. Recognize the Warning Signs

Dr. Scott Poland makes it clear that parents must be vigilant and listening for warning signs of teen suicide.
The following warning signs may mean that a teen is at risk for suicide. While no one factor is a clear indicator, taken together these warning signs must be taken seriously. • Talking about wanting to die or to kill themselves • Actively looking for ways to kill themselves, such as online searches or buying a gun • Talking about feelings of hopelessness • Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain • Talking about being a burden to others • Increased alcohol or drug use • Acting anxious or agitated; reckless behavior • Sleeping too little or too much • Withdrawing or isolating themselves • Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge • Extreme mood swings • Being subjected to bullying and verbal abuse
