How to Troubleshoot a Mac Mini That Will Not Start
AppleCare plan covers most powerrelated issues for the duration of the warranty, but once the warranty runs out, you're on your own.
Verify Connections
Verify that your monitor is properly and securely connected to the Mac Mini.
Verify that its power cable is securely attached to a working electrical outlet, if applicable, and that the monitor is turned on.
Power and Peripherals
When you've verified that the electrical outlet is working, try removing any peripherals attached to the Mac Mini.
Peripherals include devices such as USB hubs, printers and portable media players such as iPods.
Once you've removed these devices, press the power button on the Mac Mini to see if it starts up.
Reset System Management Controller
When you've verified that the monitor, power cable and peripherals aren't the problem, it's time to reset the System Management Controller.
To reset the System Management Controller, disconnect the Mac Mini's power cable.
Wait at least 15 seconds and then reconnect the power cable. Wait another five seconds and then try turning on the computer again.
