Colin Turner, Designer BRAND PORTFOLIO - JAN. 2015

TheSp rtingCalendar.com

Sporting event and trivia calendar publishing company. Combined web and brand with dynamic bouncing ball motif.

Brand design and print company. ‘A’ and ‘i’ denoted in positive and negative spaces, doubling as spotlight shining on the ‘i’ figure.

Chef hire agency. Cool blue to suggest calm and reliability in restaurant ‘crisis’ situations (when most chefs are hired apparently). Five stars in circle suggestive of five star rating plaque.

An International Irish festival. (Later renamed ‘The Gathering’) Green the obvious choice of colour, and another shade in case there’s any doubt! Rampant rotation and lettering giving it a celebratory feel.

PR and publishing company. Megaphone motif and web brand in monochrome red to convey a sense of urgency. Motion echoes, vibrating lines and rampant style suggesting loud volume.

Industrial flooring installation company. Monochrome brown to suggest utility over style. Company initials set into motif of floortiles being assembled.

UNITED EARTH ALLIANCE UNITY, FREEDOM & SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH ECONOMIC REFORM

Humanitarian non-profit group. Symbolising multiple groups working together and ‘protecting’ centre Earth.

A masthead from a revived 19th century publication. Client supplied the original rampant dragon. Very plain style employed to emulate the original. Hand centered and aligned. Slightly deconstructed text.

Photography company. Red, shattered glass effect and rampant 3D rotation in keeping with the alternative and edgy style of the photographer.

MUSIC OF THE 70s, 80s & 90s

A wedding band. Warm orange colour and sun rays in negative space suggesting a Summer ‘good-time’ feeling.

A single cover for a French cafĂŠ music style song. Vintage French font, slightly deconstructed overlaid on illuminated paper effect with dancing silhouettes and typical decoration.

THREE PIECE ROCK

An emerging rock band. The name suggested a modified Pinnochio graphic with sinister expression and extended nose, holding a guitar on stage.

A masthead for a web-based vintage Spanish newspaper. High ornamentation, typical of the era and culture was required. Subtle deconstruction and ochre colour to simulate engraved printing process.

A pro-environmental singing group. A soft, muted approach was suggested, keeping the layout uncomplicated and asymmetrical with deconstructed lines.

Music licensing company. Mixed musical symbols interwoven into a golden disk motif.

CD and vinyl manufacturing company. Simple and clean tab style box with disc cut out in negative space. Compact and confident.

A booking agency for emerging young bands. Double dot symbol and line denoting guitar fret markings. Appearance suggestive of a bus stop, or important step in a journey.

A small specialist translation company. Specialising in poetic and lyrical translations in European languages suggested the European colours, stars and a personal strapline.

A private bar with a cheeky sense of humour! Plenty of double-entendres for those who seek them - all of which are much too rude to mention here. :) This was a favour for a friend.
