I am a junior currently enrolled in Interior Design and minoring in Entrepreneurial Studies at Appalachian State University. I am very much a creative soul and love expressing that creativity through designing spaces. I was born and raised in Northeast Tennessee. Being exposed to the outdoors at a young age has grown my love for the mountains, going to the lake, camping and hiking. I am an adventurous foodie who loves to play in the kitchen. I enjoy creating new dishes and baked goods for my friends and family. I am also an extreme animal enthusiast who loves animals of any shape or size. I am also an athlete who has played volleyball for 11 plus years including playing for the club volleyball team at my school and have loved every minute of it.

This building is located in the historic district of downtown Izmir, Turkey. Since this building was considered to be under historic preservation, many features in the restaurant are original to the building. This building is to be turned into a restuarant that features authentic Turkish cuisine in a contemporary, mid to upscale setting while honoring the culture. The culture of the Turkish people was heavily researched before deciding the design concept of this restaurant. Aura’s (Chakras) are important in the Muslim culture because they are deeply anchored in one’s spirit representing their mood and intent. It is also important that the definition of Aura is the distintive atmosphere or quality. The colors of each of the chakras and wanting to have a distinctive postitive atmosphere is what inspired the restaurant HAVA. PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK STUDENT VERSION

The company SpaceX opened a new office in Orlando, Florida for their Marketing and Communications Division. The space planning of this project allowed SpaceX to have use of flexible spaces and room for growth while providing the flow of an open office floor plan.

Since this space was for the Marketing and Communications Division, it was designed with the intent for other people who are interested in SpaceX to walk in and understand what kind of company they were. Stargazing was the inspiration for this design. Star-like colors, bright materials and finishes were used to help better define the mission of SpaceX to their clients. Their vision is “to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets.

A family of four (a single mother, a son, an elderly mother and elderly father) requested a house be designed to meet the needs of their family. The son is wheel chair bound and needs the house to be one-level and ADA compliant.

STUDIO II

Fall 2018

Keeping in mind that the elderly parents could also one day end up in wheel chairs, this house was designed to assist with the transition of aging in place. With the location of the home in Utah, the colors and textures helped inspire the interior space having a balance between natural and contemporary.

STUDIO I

Spring 2018

The Dean of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University wanted a redesign of her office and the surrounding offices included in the Fine and Applied Arts section of the building. A new floor plan was created to allow for easier understanding and flow for students. The specific spaces redesigned were the Dean’s office and the conference room. They were both reinvented with the idea of mental health being the center of the design. The colors, textures and layout are all used to promote positive mental health.

Creating path and mystery was the function of this project. Studying an artist’s work and taking inspiration from their works to create a 3D form was the end task. To take two dimensional work and create a form that was three dimensional was one of the challenges faced.

These sketches were done during a study abroad trip to Italy. We went to five different cities in three weeks. In each city we had to sketch a certain number of scenarios. These included material studies, perspectives, upsidedown, fast and moving sketches. It was very important that by the end of the trip, proportion was understood. It is a very valuable quality to be able to sketch quickly and to proportion because that can be used any time in professional practice.

This project is a backyard studio built in Sketchup with the proper architectural layout of materials. This project forced a break down of the key elements of construction. This allowed for a deeper understanding of how joists, beams, wall board, etc. can come together to create a sound structure. Sustainable materials like recycled paneling for the outside of the studio, a rain catcher system to use rain water as a water source and recycled tin to form a roof were used to make the studio. The studio consists of a foundation, wall joists, interior wall, exterior wall, sliding doors, windows, a ceiling, roof joists and a roof.
