ith the release of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple introduced 3D TOUCH – a whole new way to interact with your iPhone. This new touchscreen functionality allows you to access an app’s Quick Action shortcuts right from the Home Screen before fully launching the app. With Quick Actions, 3D Touch provides shortcuts to the things you do most, so you can send a message or take a selfie with just a simple press from the Home screen.

In addition, 3D Touch functionality also gives you new ways to interact once you’re in an app with actions known as Peek and Pop, which lets you preview all kinds of content and act on it – without having to actually open it. DOUBLE UP ON PRODUCTIVITY WITH iPAD N ew Features – Slide Over, Split View, and Picture in Picture give you new ways to multitask on iPad. And new keyboard features make formatting and text selection even easier – and put shortcuts at your fingertips. Slide Over Slide Over is a simple take on multitasking. It lets you swipe from the right edge of the display to bring up another app on top of the one you're currently using. So you can quickly browse the web, respond to a text message or jot something down in a note, then slide that app away and get back to the one you were using before. Split View With Split View, you can go a step further and have two apps open and active at the same time, with each app taking up half of the screen. Basically, you can use two apps at the same time. Picture-in-Picture lets a video float on top of whatever other app or apps you're using at the time. And it is so simple to use. BUILT-IN APPS FEATURE UPDATE

Apple Maps now features Transport view, bringing you public transport information with routes and directions. You can even ask Siri for public transport directions. However, the Transport feature is accessible only in a select number of cities, including Baltimore, Berlin, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Shanghai, Toronto, Washington D.C., and several cities in China, at present. In addition to transit directions, Maps also lets you find restaurants, retail stores and services nearby. You can get suggestions for Shopping, Travel, Food, Fun and Services like pet grooming.

Appleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Notes app has been updated with a whole set of new features including some relatively sophisticated sketching and doodling tools. You can now turn your lists into checklists and check off items as you go. Apart from choosing an existing photo or video from a camera roll to add it to a note, you can now also take a new photo or video right from within the Notes app. There are new formatting options, so you can add some style to your jottings as well. Not only that, you can also add web links, addresses, pages, and more to your notes directly from other apps (such as Maps, Pages, or Safari Browser) using the Share menu. To compliment this, there is an Attachments Browser, which organizes all the items attached to your notes in one simple view, so finding a particular attachment is also an easy job. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not all! You can also sync your notes across all your devices using iCloud service. So, you can create a shopping list on your Mac and tick off items at the shop on your iPhone. All the changes are updated in real time.

NEW APPS BY APPLE In place of Newsstand, Apple brings in the brand new app called News. It puts all the stories you’re interested in, all in one place – articles are pulled from a wide range of sources, from top news organizations to indie publications. You are allowed to customize your news feed by choosing your favourite publications and topics (like science, finance, food, or travel), if you prefer. There is also an option to share articles with friends or save them to read later. Add to that, the more you use News, the better it gets at picking out just what you’ll want to read.

Notification Center now has the ability to group notifications based on the apps. Simply go to Settings -> Notification -> Group by App to enable the grouping.

Back to App: Now whenever you switch apps, there will be a Back button at the top-left corner, which will take you back to the app you were using before.

Safari browser now lets you save a webpage in the PDF format. Just click on the Share button and opt for ‘Save PDF to iBooks’.

• Hindi transliteration: In addition to improving the keyboard, Apple has also added a transliteration feature that makes it really easy to type in Hindi. Navigate to Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards and select ‘Hindi – Transliteration’. This feature will allow you to type in English, and the OS will automatically transliterate it to Hindi. •

Markup: The Mail app on iOS 9 gets a handy feature that lets you doodle on an attached image. Long press on an attached image, and select Markup. It is a good option to sign a document.

The new iCloud Drive app built on iOS 9 allows you to access any file you save to iCloud from just one place – right on your iPhone’s home screen (Settings -> iCloud -> iCloud Drive and select ‘Show on Home Screen’). The app also lets you browse all your files by date, name, or tags you added on your Mac. Not only that, it lets you share files with one tap. For instance, you can attach a file in Mail directly from the iCloud Drive app.

Move to iOS Alongside the launch of iOS 9, Apple introduced its first Android application called Move to iOS. The app will help you wirelessly switch from your Android device to your new iOS device. That means if you are an Android user and are planning to switch to iOS, then you could try this app to wirelessly transfer your Google account, contacts, messages, camera photos and videos, and web bookmarks from your Android device (running version 4.0 and above) to an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch (running iOS 9.0 or later). Good to Know HOW IT WORKS While setting up your new iOS device, you will find an option – Move Data from Android. Simply select the option and follow on-screen instructions to begin the process of data transfer. Let's understand the working of this app step-by-step.

Step 1: Tap Move Data from Android While setting up your new iOS device, look for the Apps & Data screen. Then select “Move Data from Android” from the given options and tap “Continue”. You'll then get a 10-digit code that you are supposed to enter into your Move to iOS app installed on your Android device.

Step 2: Download “Move to iOS” app on your Android device Download the Move to iOS app, which works on tablets and smartphones running Android OS 4.0 and above. Launch the app, read terms and conditions, and tap “Agree” to continue. Now, enter the 10-digit code that you've received while setting up your new iOS device and wait for the Transfer Data screen to appear. On the other hand, your new iPhone will create a private Wi-Fi network and detect your Android device running Move to iOS app in order to pair up both the devices.

Step 3: Choose your content and wait On your Android device, select the content you'd like to transfer and tap “Next”. Then leave both devices alone until the loading bar that appears on your iOS device finishes – even if your Android indicates that the process is complete. The whole transfer can take a while, depending on how much content you're moving.

Step 4: Set up your iOS device After the loading bar finishes on your iOS device, tap “Done” on your Android device. Then tap “Continue” on your iOS device and follow the on-screen steps to finish setting it up.

• Move to iOS app works only when you’re setting up your iOS device for the first time, either out-of-the-box or following a factory reset. So, if you have already set up your new iPhone with plans to port your Android data over at a later point, this app won’t be of much use unless you erase your iOS device and start from scratch. • Before you begin, make sure your Wi-Fi is on and working properly on both the devices. • The app works on Android devices running OS 4.0 and above, and iPhone/iPad/ iPod touch running iOS 9.0 or later. • The app lets you transfer your Google account, photos and videos (saved in the gallery) and web bookmarks. It actually brings a little more than what you’re promised. As Apple moves your Google account, you’re set to go to use Apple’s Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. Note: By that, we mean that important data such as contacts and calendar entries shouldn’t only be stored locally on your phone. Instead, they should be in your Google account. • If you want to transfer your Chrome bookmarks, you should have the latest version of Chrome on your Android device. • Once the data is transferred, all free apps that you were using on your Android device having iOS counterparts will be suggested as immediate downloads – for example, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, while apps that have paid iOS counterparts will be automatically added to your iTunes Wish List for purchase as needed. • It’s worth noting that all files may not be transferred if the source device (Android) has larger storage than the iOS device – if you’re trying to squeeze 35GB of photos and videos from your Samsung Galaxy onto a 32GB iPhone, well, it just won’t work.

Microsoft updated its apps–Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote to take the advantage of iOS 9 features. Uber will no longer share your mobile number with the driver Taxi aggregator Uber announced a new feature to help protect the safety and privacy of both its passengers and drivers in India – Disguised Phone Numbers (number masking). With this feature in place, all calls between riders and driver-partners are connected using anonymous phone numbers – so both sides can communicate with each other to coordinate a pick-up without revealing their personal phone numbers. “We care deeply about the safety of our riders and drivers,” said Deval Delivala, Uber’s India Safety Lead. “This new safety technology will help provide increased security before, during and after the ride.” The company’s release added that the new safety technology has been tested with hundreds of drivers already, and will roll out across India soon.

'Number Masking' feature to keep users' phone numbers private In a move to ensure the safety and privacy of its customers, Ola Cabs introduced Number Masking on its platform, which will enable mobile numbers of customers to remain undisclosed to drivers. Ola has integrated a cloud telephony solution, which sends an encrypted number to the driver whenever a customer books a cab. Drivers calling from their Ola device will not be able to see the customer's mobile number but will automatically be routed through the encrypted number, the company said in a release. The number masking feature is active for driver-partners in all cities where Ola operates, it added. Additionally, the company's driver-partners will not bear the cost of calls made to customers, since they would be routed directly through the device.
