A bou t M e I am a visual person. I tend to observe every possible thing around me, as I believe that a good obversation skill enhances the ability to imagine. I aspire to express my concepts and insights through spatial design. I have always been curious about the correlation in between art, culture and aesthetical values of people belonging to different geographical parts the world.

SPACE

CO- LIVI NG 1

A bou t T he Pro ject Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre (KCAC) is the most recognized artist residency in Nepal. It offers different types of residency programmes for different art sectors from scholarship based to stipend based. As living in a new space could be productive to some artists, while some may face major problems which might affect their work as well. The motive behind choosing to live and work in an artist residency is to gain a good working Mood Board experience; to explore ideas; to be efficient; creative and productive at the same time. These goals can be met only when the space provided to them is designed accordingly. This project is a co-living space, inspired by Midcentury Modern style. The key design language for this space is openess, trasparency, greenery and neutral pallette with a very few pop up colours. Context

H O SP I TA LI T Y 5

A bou t T he Pro ject Peony Parsley is a hypothetical bistro inspired from a British Chef, book writer, and a broadcaster, Rachel Khoo. The aim of the bistro is to create a comfortable homely environment for people where they can enjoy freshly baked sweet and savoury dishes. From the name of the restaurant to the little design elements used inside the space has been derived from her personality and lifestyle. It is a blend of vintage/retro and shabby Khoo at the set of Zumbo’s Just Desserts chic styles.

Index Reception/ Waiting Area

The co-working space is inspired from the combination of two polarized materials: wood and concrete. Wood innately delivers an aura relating to organicness; whereas concerete, on the other hand, is a manmade inorganic composition. In the present context, we still live in a jungle but of concrete. As we have been growing distance in between nature and our daily habitat, the concpet of ‘outdoor inside’ was Mood Board hence developed to bring them closer. It incorpotates natural emelents within the interior space, bringing the natural outdoor ambience inside.

WORKSHOP

CARDBOARD 15

A bou t T he Pro ject It is a collaborative project of two people and the concept was built while studying and experimenting with the physical properties of cardboard. The concpet of ‘Sevenold Stool’ is derived from the intersection of two prisms: one tall upward and one short downward prism. The foldable characteristic of the cardbord has been incorprated to create a dismantable stool. The crisp angles of each prism visually gives an impression of the number ‘7’. The stool is divided into three main folds and is interlocked with eachother in the shape of 7. Hence, the name of the stool is ‘Sevenold’.

The Ele Stool too, is an experimental outcome of the workshop. It is made up of using cardboard layering technique. The volume of the stool is achived by layering several profile cutouts of the chair and stacking all of them one over the other using a liquid adhesive.

The furniture is created for a hypothetical co-working space. It is made up of two main materials: wood and concrete. It is inspired by the fusion of orgainc and inorganic elements that we see in our daily lives. The co-working space incorpotates a vertical indoor terrace garden within the mezzanine floor of the interior space, which serves as an informal working/meeting area for the co-workers. This furniture was desined to deliver a feeling of an outdoor ambience within the interior space.

The concept of the lamp is inspired from the symbol of ‘Swastika’. The initial design process started with a literal depiction of the symbol. Constant addition and substaraction happened in the form development process. Later, the final form of the lamp was achieved while simplifying the top view of the symbol.

The project is inspired by a sea creature named ‘flatworm’, which is a very tiny invertibrate known for its swiftness, in terms of locomotion. After studying and analyzing characteristics about the animal, three of its prominent attributes : flatness, fierceness and rhythmic body movement were noted. Sequentially, after exploring with the visual representation of its attributes, a final form was developed and was futher trasformed into an office reception desk.
