How to Play Four Square

Page 1

Four Square

Starting out, grab some chalk, a ball, and draw a box that is 6x6 feet. Divide the box into four parts, down the center and accross. There should be one player per square.

Next, designate one square as the King’s square. Moving clockwise are squares three, two, and one. The goal is to become king and stay king.

To play, the king has the ball, bounces it once, and hits it into square two. The player in square two lets the ball bounce, then hits it into square one or three. The game continues and any square is fair territory!

To “get out, a player hits the ball outside of the court, hits the ball on a court line, catches the ball, cannot return the ball, or hits another player intentionally with the ball.

Once out, the player leaves the court. The first person in line enters square one. This may require the remaining contenders to move counter clockwise.
