Why did you decide to use NUDE glassware at Mirazur?
I chose NUDE glassware for its different style and also for the lightness of the glass itself. With that kind of glassware we can use one glass for the wine pairing instead of many different glasses, which can be overwhelming. It becomes like a show for the client.
Do you think that the quality of food and food service and the atmosphere and the aesthetics of a restaurant have a significant influence on each other?
I believe that the gastronomic experience begins with the person's arrival at the restaurant, not just with the tasting of a dish. Each element –food, service, atmosphere and aesthetics– is part of a coherent whole that will provide a broader and richer experience for the senses and in the minds of the people who visit us. We have renewed the interior and we continue with work in other areas of the restaurant according to this philosophy. Does glass, as a material, have a particular meaning or beauty for you as a chef?
Of course, glass is a very interesting material for chefs. We can give glass whatever form and color we wish and we must use fire to do it! It's just like cooking.
Where do you most often find your inspiration for the creative process of cooking?
Inspiration is an unanticipated process, which cannot be predicted, but in my case most of the time inspiration comes from the ingredients I find in the gardens, or that I discover in the market. From there, like to play with new combinations. work with the organoleptic properties of the ingredients, but I also think about their origins, the history related to each ingredient, and the way we usually work with it...
In 2006, how did you originally want the gastronomic experience to feel at Mirazur? What influenced or inspired you while you were creating the concept?
Although Mirazur has evolved over time, I had the idea from the first day: I did not want to offer only dishes to customers, but a real experience. I wanted to offer a "trip" and for the customer to trust me and let himself be drawn into the experience. It is a challenge that, for me, requires great responsibility and creativity to support customers in their desire to be surprised. In a menu, there is much more than ingredients. There is emotion, associations that will occur in the memory and the personal and unique universe of each person in the encounter with a smell, a color, a texture. For me, this is "the trip".
Like people, restaurants probably change naturally over the years, but Mirazur just keeps winning awards like The World's Best Restaurant 2019 award. What do you think has been the key to maintaining your success over time?
The secret is to always evolve. I've never worked for the prizes, to follow the achievements of others. I work to feel free in my creations. work to meet people and make them experience a unique moment. Not being afraid to follow your own passion is the key.
Besides Mirazur, I know that you also own a chain of Argentine hamburger restaurants, Carne. What attracts you to owning these two very different types of restaurants?
For me, there is good cuisine and bad cuisine. The important thing is not who the public is but what the values of the restaurant are. We always cook according to the same principles –using only excellent ingredients and respecting nature– whether it is for a wide audience or haute cuisine. The foundation is the same.
Have you ever used or are you still using bare glassware at home? If so, which part(s) do you use and why?
We use the bare glass for gin and tonics because it’s light and strong. The taste is different with the touch of a NUDE glass.
Our extensive range of wine glasses is something NUDE are both known for and are proud. We understand that people, like wine, are varied, with a multiplicity of tastes and needs. An icon as an architect and industrial designer, Ron Arad has always ignored the notion of formal disciplines and boundaries. He is a creator in the purest sense, his portfolio of work is a testament to his creative genius and free spirit. He defines design as ‘the act of imposing one's will on materials to perform a function’. He is a constant innovator, questioning, challenging, rethinking and reinterpreting the objects that surround our lives. The Ron Arad Signature Collection for NUDE includes iconic pieces such as the ‘Red or Wine’ and ‘Glazz’, masterfully handcrafted in lead-free crystal.

A flirtatious range including a decanter, jug and two glasses. The way the glass leans mirrors the way people bend closer to hear a conversation or whisper a secret. The shape of the glass also makes reference to the tipsy-like state a party engenders. Also note the upside down wine glasses. No need to waste time when moving from white to red; a twist of the wrist and one can proceed uninterrupted.

‘Alba’ is Gaelic for Scotland, and this collection pays tribute to the spiritual home of whisky. The elegant glasses are punctuated by a hand-engraved and cleverly deconstructed tartan pattern. The glass has been delicately moulded with a series of dramatic intersecting perpendicular lines, creating a sense of depth and character. The ‘Cupola’ series comprises of two crystalline glass domes expertly fashioned to make the best of food presentation and protection. While large in dimension, the domes maintain a sense of the elegant, each finished with a perfectly balanced brass handle and resting on a solid marble base.
FROMAGE
A hand-blown dome of transparent glass, the Fromage makes a stunning table display. Sitting on a circular slate base, the glass is in the form of a giant teardrop allowing air to circulate around the contents. A small vent blown into the glass prevents food from ‘sweating’. As the domes are all handblown, not one of them is exactly the same.

OLEA
The Olea range consists of two oil and vinegar pourers one with a pipette, one with a stopper and a small sauce jug, the latter designed with a soft lip at its brim. Despite appearing to rest at an angle, these clear glass containers are perfectly balanced, their design cleverly reflecting their use.

ILO
Ilo is a set of 3 different sized candle holders, owning a sculptural look that brings a mesmerizing ambience with its dome inspired structure. Different sizes of Ilo from pillar to tealight candle holders can be adapted to any setting from in or outdoor, suitable for cold winter nights or long summer nights. The combination of the handcrafted crystalline rippled glass of NUDE with the silky looking copper plate lets the candlelight twinkle and reflect with a playful optic effect, in your space.
MR. & MRS.
An amusing pair of matching water jugs with integrated mouth-blown glass cups in clear, green or dusty rose. The cups, decorated with a sleeping and blinking face, also work as a stopper, helping to keep the contents of the jug fresh.
PARROT
This playful carafe and tumbler set wear their functionality as their decoration. Cuts made by hand, as well as hand-painting, in the neck indicate where to hold the object and help to increase one’s grip when it is heavy with liquid.
An immaculately created blown-glass hand mirror eloquently resting on a circular oak stand. The glass comes in green, its surface is softly brushed, its weight is carefully calibrated.
BLOSSOM
A simple jewellery tree made from oak, set within a pure glass surround in either clear or green. The design cleverly enhances the jewellery, the contrast between the organic and the hand-crafted, both charming and practical.
EDEN
The Eden is an exquisitely manufactured glass terrarium – a miniature garden. Lying atop a bowl of moulded concrete, the Eden can be used for planting all year round. It also makes a beautiful candle-feature for both indoors and out.
MEMENTO MORI
Exquisitely sculptured glass ornament designed by Istanbul-based Ali Bakova. Shaped as the top half of a human skull, the ornaments rest on a flat base.

The skulls act as a constant reminder of our mortality, and an inspiration to live life to the full, making the most of every moment we have.
Inspired by his Punk Rock roots, Erdem Akan has always been keen to mix the dramatic with the playful. While respecting the beautifully macabre aspect of the human skull, he chooses to place it on its side –as if sleeping–while at the same time making it useful. It’s a bold statement, full of wit and attitude. The skull acts as a bowl, and what you decide to put in it –a simple flower, coloured candies, pens and pencils– allows you to make your own statement about life… and death.

From the designer Tamer Nakışçı, this trio of vases are made in an extraordinary clear yet corrugated glass. The rippled effect creates an optical illusion reflecting the different colours of the contents in an almost magical way. Flowers particularly are beautifully presented in these vases, the undulation blurring the stems, bringing into focus the colour of the petals.

Like the inimitable French headgear, these lidded vessels are remarkable for their elegant, effortless simplicity. Lids crafted from silky-looking brass close over softly tinted glass containers –in three sizes– like the tasteful toppers of the Basques people, who originated the beret.
CONTOUR JOY
An innovative range comprising of a elegant crystal vase and a bowl, all with an arresting copper base. At once solid yet ethereal, the vases seem to disappear as they reach their apex, allowing the contents to take over the drama. The base suggests the vases are separated into three layers –metal, liquid air– superb visual impact.

BLOW
An extraordinary and original piece created by the Swiss-based and award-winning designer Tomas Kral. “The two parts of the lamp are assembled together by simple rubber bands which refer to the top of a hot-air balloon. This minimal connection creates a tension sufficient to maintain the stability of the lamp, and also allows quick disassembly for changing the bulb.” Light and airy, the lamp, though sturdy, seems to float.

For a slightly softer look, the Mira lamp opens out like a ballgown, sending a wider beam of light. Incorporating the same concrete socket of its brother lamp, the Mira maintains an air of simplicity while still offering fantastic personality and style.
A superb lamp, minimal in design yet strong in attitude, the Mono is made from blown unworked glass. Determinedly non-ornamental, it retains a strong sense of style, its concrete socket working in perfect balance with the simplicity of the glass itself. ORION SMOOTH
A truly dramatic addition to any room, the Orion night light is an extraordinary piece of design. Essentially simple in its make-up, the crystal glass shade resting on a solid concrete base hails back to the sci-fi movies of the 1950s.
The Smooth bedside lamp is comforting, minimal, soft, and unobtrusive. Its space-age design emits a warm glow, the feel of the lamp organic, the textures tactile. The main shade itself is made of opaque glass, contrasting effectively with the slate stone base, the matt and gloss finishes acting in harmony.
