Rosa Menéndez Corollos, Asturias, Spain (1956) She is an Asturian scientist contributing to develop an investigation related to carbon materials One of her last studies and investigations is focused on the role of Graphene in Biomedicine Actually, she is the President of the CSIC (since 2017), Vice president of “Science Europe”. Was Vice president of “Scientist and Technician Investigation” (2007-2008). She also was involved on responsibility positions in R&D Organizations as President of “European Carbon Association”; Co-ordinating Material and Energy Programme depending of the National Plan of I+D+I; as well as in several scientific councils of the business sector. She was rewarded with various awards: XIX Dupont Prize, Spanish Materials Association Scientific career Award (2016), XV San Alberto Magno Prize Of Scientific excellence, Chemical Excellence Prize (2018) and the Silver Medal of Asturias from The Principality of Asturias

Carmen Méndez Barcelona, Spain (1957) Her scientist motivations and interests are focused on Cloning and Antitumor and Antibiotic compounds biosynthetic pathways characterization. Also including generating new Antitumor and Antibiotic compounds She has a Biology University Degree (1979) and a PhD in Biology (1984) from the University of Oviedo. After a post-PhD stay at Keith Chater Laboratory (Norwich, UK) in 1988, she returned to The University of Oviedo as a Microbiology University Professor. She got a Chair of Microbiology at the University of Oviedo in 2011. She is co-manager of “Bioactive compounds by microorganisms Biosynthesis (BIOMIC)” Investigation Group. She is related to the registration of 16 patents, 13 of them are internationally recognized and they are been used for various Business and Companies (Hoescht Marion Roussel, Biotica Technology Ltd., Asturpharma S. A., PharmaMar S. A., Entrechem S. L.). She is one of the founder partners of Entrechem S.L., leaded about 24 Doctoral Theses and wrote 189 publications including 14 book chapters and 175 reviews and media reports.
