Inpex is currently in the process of a two year operation to dredge a shipping channel for LNG carriers to load out gas from Blaydin Point in Darwin.
The sedimentation scanners provided a real-time method to monitor the relative closeness to the adopted trigger of 50mm.
Darwin Harbour is lined with extensive assemblages of mangroves, which are a major ecosystem in the region.
•
Data was streamed live for conformance monitoring.
•
Any exceedences are managed and reported in real-time, protecting the ecosystem and maximising dredge production.
project Services WorleyParsons were commissioned to deploy sedimentation scanners at key sites predicted to be impacted from dredging. A trigger level of 50mm of sedimentation from dredging was adopted by INPEX, above which dredging would be reduced or stopped.
