Smart Ownership
Smart Specifying
“Our buildings work better with Cerus starters. They’re totally integrated with our control system so we optimize tenant comfort while saving energy. Thanks to the BACnet metering, our building achieved LEED Certification helping enhance our image and underscore our commitment to sustainability.”
“We specify reliability. So when we saw that Cerus offered the industry’s highest rated contactors and true electronic overload protection, we were interested. Unlike traditional starters, they monitor restarts and prevent equipment damage. We know the building owners’ interests are at heart – long equipment life, tenant safety, and reduced energy costs.”
Smart Installation “These smart starters make everything go smoothly. They can control the dampers, provide fireman’s override, and proof-of-flow. It saves time and with fewer components, we deliver a more reliable system. Plus the wide range overloads eliminate call-backs due to mis-sized heaters.”

Optimize Your Building Provide seamless integration with your automation system in more ways than one. First, we incorporated manual and automatic operation for ease of use. By combining starter operation with your controls, you extend equipment life and save energy. Cerus makes it practical – even for small single phase motors previously plagued by prohibitive cost to control. Imagine a starter with integrated fireman’s override (for purging smoke in case of fire) and perceptive enough to automatically detect belt loss (true power-loss of load).
Installation is Easy Smart isn’t complicated. Intuitive is more like it. Our starters eliminate interposing relays and current sensors. Fewer components mean higher reliability and happier electrical, mechanical, and control contractors. Once you install Cerus, and experience insightful design, other starters never look the same. And thanks to wide range overloads, call backs due to mis-sized overloads are history.
Complete with Job Tags Cerus delivers with same day shipping which includes custom labeling on the products and packaging for easy installation. Your starter arrives labeled for its location, saving time and eliminating confusion.
Measure It and Manage It If you can measure it, you can manage it. Take advantage of LEED green building points and manage your consumption by monitoring your loads with built in ANSI grade metering – providing not only kWh, but voltage, kVar and just about any other attribute you desire. We speak your language. You get total automation system compatibility from pulse analog to BACnet communication options for plug and play interoperability. The entire data stream and network direct control at a blistering baud rate that all adds up to reduced operational cost and easy commissioning.
Higher System Reliability Our electronic overload protection prevents motor damage and downtime. It’s progressive enough to track restart activity and protect against rapid cycling. And brains meet brawn since our contactors are NEMA rated and boast one of the highest life cycle ratings in the industry; up to 2.5 million electrical cycles. That’s better than Allen Bradley (1.5M) and Square D (1.5M). We don’t create call backs, we eliminate them. Cerus backs it all with a 5-Year warranty.

SOUTH WATERFRONT TOWERS
Location: Portland, OR Products Installed: BAS Starters
YOU’LL FIND CERUS STARTERS IN THE WORLD’S SMARTEST PROJECTS. Project Spotlight: South Waterfront Towers Location: Portland, OR American Heating provided Cerus BAS starters as a part of their equipment package for the latest addition to the Portland skyline, South Waterfront Towers. They installed the BAS starters to control garage ventilation fans and a portion of the building’s exhaust system. American Heating significantly reduced component costs by utilizing the BAS’s voltage input to integrate directly with the building automation control.
6
The BAS also accepts a contact closure from a standalone sensing devices such as carbon monoxide sensors, highlighting its flexibility. The BAS units gave American Heating an advantage over traditional starters which don’t incorporate the comprehensive controls of the BAS in a single compact unit.

BAS STARTER “When our projects call for starters, choosing the BAS starter eliminates the aggravation of sizing heaters. It’s the only starter on the market, that I am aware of, that gives you all the accessories you’ll need right out of the box. Our installers have flexible inputs for starting motors without adding additional relays. Cerus has also paid attention to clearly labeling and tagging each starter which saves my guys valuable time on job sites.” -Steve Young American Heating

YOU’LL FIND CERUS STARTERS IN THE WORLD’S SMARTEST PROJECTS.
SAS BAS 1P Dimensions
Project Spotlight: 2nd Brigade Barracks Location: Fort Bragg, NC The Army Corps of Engineers utilized Cerus BAS starters in the construction of the new 2nd Brigade Barracks. Cerus supplied over 80 BAS units to control air handling units, return fans and chilled water pumps across five separate buildings within the complex. The BAS includes a standard wide-range electronic overload which eliminated the need
to individually size “heaters” resulting in both labor savings and the reducing the man-hours required to select equipment. Since BAS units always ship tagged for scheduled equipment, the installers easily matched starters to the correct location which resulted in a much faster installation.
