FACT SHEET 25TH ANNIVERSARY
GREAT PREACHER AWARD
AQUINAS INSTITUTE OF THEOLOGY what: The Great Preacher Award: In Honor of Holy Preaching At Aquinas Institute, we place our theological study at the service of what Dominicans call the “Holy Preaching.” The Holy Preaching is not a discrete experience confined to a few minutes from the pulpit; rather for Dominicans it is an expression of our shared life, where as a community we seek to make a comprehensive and dynamic response to God’s presence in our lives and the world. Established in 1995, the Great Preacher Award is presented to individuals who embody the Dominican understanding of the Holy Preaching. We honor preachers who proclaim, in word and deed, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the coming and presence of the reign of God.
why: To benefit Aquinas Preaching and Scholarship Fund All proceeds from this event will benefit the Aquinas Preaching and Scholarship Fund, which enables Aquinas Institute to provide financial aid to students. The Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to future preachers, teachers, and Church leaders, many of whom would otherwise be unable to pursue theological studies.

About Aquinas Institute of Theology Part of the world-wide Order of Preachers, Aquinas Institute is a Catholic, Dominican-sponsored graduate school of theology and ministry in St. Louis, Missouri. We offer multiple graduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of formats to accommodate the needs of our students. We are known nationally for two signature programs: a Master of Arts in Health Care Mission and a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching, the only one of its kind in the country. Aquinas Institute is a Center of Institutional Studies, designated by the Order of Preachers to form Dominican friars who are firmly rooted in the rich intellectual tradition of the Order in order to carry out its preaching mission. We serve two distinct, complementary constituencies: Dominican friars preparing for ordination to the priesthood and pastoral ministry, as well as priests, religious sisters, and lay men and women preparing for careers in service to the Christian community or for advanced academic studies. We welcome diversity and those of other faith traditions. At the heart of all our programs is the unique Dominican approach to education that holds as its primary purpose a search for Veritas, the One who is Truth himself, Our Lord Jesus Christ, whom we seek to encounter in all of our programs, coursework and campus life, and whom we seek to share through our mission of evangelization, namely to be useful by preaching and teaching for the salvation of every person. Over 2,000 Aquinas graduates around the country are serving the Church and the people of God in parish ministries, as education and health care leaders, as preachers and teachers, as campus ministers, as social justice advocates. At Aquinas Institute, we send our students into the world ready to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
