NEWS FROM THE ARAB EMBASSIES

Welcome Mr. Ambassador!

H.E. Dr. Saad Alammar, the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Greece On 12 January 2021, the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Dr. Saad Alammar, presented his credentials to H.E. Mrs. K. Sakellaropoulou. During the ceremony, the two sides exchanged views on growing friendly relations between the Hellenic Republic and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and issues of common concern.

In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the Saudi-Greek relations have been exemplary in every aspect for more than five decades and that now, the regional and international geopolitical developments are adding a new momentum to the bonds of the two countries.

Dr. Saad Alammar is a familiar face at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of his country. He began his career back in 1981, assuming various positions and responsibilities at the Institute of Public Administration and later a position of a Deputy Assistant for Employment Affairs at Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Saudi Arabia. Prior to his arrival to Greece, he held two key positions - Consultant to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia (2015 to 2020) and the Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). From 2002 to 2010, Ambassador Alammar was General Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh.

Dr. Saad Alammar presenting his credentials to H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou His Excellency holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the State University of New York Albany, New York, 1994, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the Pennsylvania State University in USA, 1986.

On the occasion of assumption of the Ambassador’s duties in Greece, Mr. Rashad Mabger, the Secretary General of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency at the premises of the Saudi Embassy, on 9 February 2021. During their meeting, various topics and issues of common interest to the Chamber and the Saudi Embassy were discussed. It is worth mentioning that the

role of the Saudi Embassy in the Chamber’s journey of five decades has been an important one, due to the fact that the Arab-Hellenic Chamber is the representative of the Council of Saudi Chambers in Greece, the contribution of which is equally remarkable.

The Secretary General seized the opportunity, during the visit, to assure His Excellency of our unwavering support of his endeavors to develop and enhance GreekSaudi relations in all business domains and to wish him a pleasant and fruitful stay in Greece.
