Welcoming the new Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Greece

On 12 January 2021, H.E. Mr. Sulaiman Hamed Almazroui, the newly accredited ambassador of United Arab Emirates to the Hellenic Republic, presented his credentials to H.E. Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic. After a small ceremony, the President and the Ambassador touched upon the fruitful cooperation between Greece and the UAE in many and various fields and they both praised the steady growth of the bilateral friendly relation of the two countries.

Ambassador Sulaiman presenting his credentials to the President Greece and the United Arab Emirates of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou enjoy common views and stance on many regional and international issues and their cooperation is yet another indication of their excellent relations. Ambassador Almazroui is a professional diplomat whose long services in finance and banking have enhanced his career which started in 1994 when he held the position of Chairman and Founder of the Dubai Transport Corporation, which was followed by various key positions in his country. He also represented UAE in NATO (2011-2013), acted as a Head of Mission to the EU (2011-2016) and served as UAE ambassador to Belgium (2011-2016) and non-resident to Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (2012-2016), to UK (2016-2019) and nonresident ambassador to Iceland from 2017 to 2019.

H.E. Ambassador Sulaiman Almazroui with the President of the Hellenic Republic H.E. Mr. Almazroui was very instrumental during the negotiations for the Schengen Waiver project for UAE which he also signed. Additionally, he was one of the initiators of the Human Rights Dialogue between the UAE and the EU.

On 28 January 2021, Mr. Rashad Mabger, the Secretary General of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency at the premises of the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Athens. During their friendly meeting, Mr. Almazroui and Mr. Mabger discussed a variety of issues regarding the business relations between Greece and the UAE and future prospects of the ArabHellenic Chamber’s events and activities.

We, at the Arab-Hellenic Chamber, would like to seize this opportunity to welcome Mr. Almazroui to Greece and express our support of his endeavors to further develop the relations between Greece and the United Arab Emirates.
