The last four years have witnessed steady increase in the trade balance between Greece and the Arab World and many Greek Businesses have been competitive and successful in penetrating new Arab markets. The quality of Greek products and the approach by the Greek Enterprises have in many ways attributed to this success. We are certain that this trend will be further enhanced. We are enormously indebted to the Greek Ministry of Economy Infrastructure, Maritime Affairs & Tourism and to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their cooperation and continuous support of our Chamber. In 2015, we have presented our members with a set of events that we believe have in many ways contributed to further their business expansion in the Arab World and in Greece. We look forward in 2016, for more positive input from our Chamber with the support of its member companies and together we shall make it. The visit of H.E President Abd el Fattah Al Sisi to the Hellenic Republic 8-9 December 2015 marks a corner stone in the progress of the excellent relations between Egypt and Greece, and compliments their endeavor to promote the historic ties and reflect them into enhanced cooperation in many fields. The Government, in its quest to unleash the full potential of the Economy, has set an ambitious roadmap that capitalizes on intrinsic growth drivers and increased public support for economic reform. At the macro-level, the government aims at creating a solid macroeconomic setting that is conductive for domestic and foreign investments. It has so far shown commitment to achieve such target through well established measures, and a strong range of legislations and regulations that aim at clearing market distortions, enhance competition, limiting bureaucracy, protecting investors, and ensuring social equity. Economic indicators According to the World Bank •T he growth rate during the current year will be 4.3% , the growth rate in the first half of 2015 stood at 5.1% compared to 1.2% in the same period last year. • The IMF predicting GDP growth of 7% by 2017/2018. • The unemployment rate declined to 13% in the first half of this year. •T he size of net foreign direct investment increased to $5.7 billion in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2014/2015 compared to $3.1 billion for the same period last year. •A mbitious FDI following years of political turmoil that saw net FDI inflows tumble from a high of about $ 13 bn in 2008 to just less than $ 2.5 bn in 2010. •A considerable increase in investments has captured the restored investors trust the most , which registered $ 5.7 bn, an increase from $ 4.1 bn during the FY 2013/2014.

•E gypt has begun in implementation of important reforms in fiscal policy and has taken positive steps in the rationalization of support in parallel with the national scheme of national development and the launch of a large number of mega-projects that are considered locomotive to revive the Egyptian economy. •T he international credit rating agencies raised Egypt’s credit rating, which encouraged foreign investors to invest in the Egyptian market. • International reserves recorded $ 16.4 bn by end of October 2015. Markellos Marine Farm S.A. Founded in 1985, Markellos Marine Farm (MMF) was the first aquaculture enterprise registered in Greece. All of MMF’s operations are located on the northern part of the Dodecanese island of Leros in the eastern Aegean Sea.

The island of Leros was selected as the birthplace of Greek aquaculture because of its crystal clear waters, which maintain a relatively high average temperature all year round. This combination of the water’s purity and warmth guarantees the highest possible quality and yield of fish production. Juvenile fish are produced locally in the company’s hatchery and then reach maturity at seven different growing sites, which all together produce 3000 metric tons of top quality fish per year. The Kaleidoscope concept & The 4 Castles Marmomacc 2015, Verona-Italy On the occasion of Marmomacc-Stone, Design, Technology International Trade being held on September 30th-October 3rd 2015, Verona-Italy, Stone Group International presented white marble Pirgon from its quarry Birros Group-Hellenic Marble Quarry located in Northern Greece. Stone Group International booth was transformed into an active quarry “The 4 Castles” through special construction video walls designed by ARCHKT Ltd, allowing clients and visitors to live the process of raw material extraction. Customers and visitors had the chance to admire the last new entries of Pelagonia Marble and Pirgon-Ebru Arabesque, comprising the awarded concept of “12 Mythic Marbles” (Marmomacc 2014 1st Prize in the World category). The company presented “Kaleidoscope” -architects Spyros Kokkinos and Michalis Theofilou-at Arena Area within the frame of “Marmomacc and the City” parallel event. The exhibit is meant to provide inspiration for new use of marble by showing the contrast between modern objects and the heritage city. The Kaleidoscope concept is based on two different marble wheels, diameter 2.20 m each, revolving in opposite directions, creating a visual Kaleidoscope pattern, symbolizing the beauty of life and its ever-changing nature. The installation introduces Pirgon material range and the new Pirgon Ebru-Arabesque white marble to the market, mainly to key consumers from UAE, Italy, USA, UK, Australia and Mexico. Stone Group International, in the frame of its strategic extroversion, will participate for 2016 at the international stone fairs of: Xiamen China, Izmir Turkey, Coverings Chicago and Marmomacc Italy.

ARCHED SHAPE STEEL BRIDGE (width 250m) NATIONAL ROAD “TRIPOLI – KALAMATA” (Greece) Steel construction company “K.LIAROMATIS SA” in association with “TERNA SA” successfully completed the construction of the deck of Arched shape Steel Bridge at the “PARADEISIA– TSAKONA” site, of 250m opening, which ranks as one of the largest arched shape steel bridges in the world. The project presented significant difficulties since due to its location various geological and geotechnical problems appeared. The project started in 2013 and completed in 2015. The deck of the bridge has an overall span length of 250m and the steel structure consists of steel main secondary beams. The two main beams are arranged along the bridge, parallel to each other, at a distance of 22,5m and are suspended in every 12m, with the use of special suspenders, which are connected with arcs and the main beams with hinges. The beams were constructed from steel plates with continuous welds and dimension of 800 x 2000 mm. The individual items of beams are connected with high strength bolts. Secondary beams are placed between the main beams the connection of which is bolted, with pretensioned high strength bolts. In overall 83 secondary beams are arrange along the bridge at a distance of 4m between them. The composite action between the secondary steel beams and the deck slab is achieved with the use of Nelson type shear studs on the top flange of the steel beams.
