Sam Peacemaker and the team at PCF Arabians are celebrating the addition of Carlinhos Souza as their resident trainer. PCF marketing manager Travis Rice shares their excitement. “Carlinhos has been a respected and accomplished member of the Arabian horse industry for years,” he relates. “His dedication, passion, and love for the Arabian horse is second to none. My respect and admiration for him as a friend, colleague, and horseman go beyond words. There is no one more dependable or trustworthy, and I am thankful Carlinhos is now a member of Team PCF”.

And Carlinhos couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. “My childhood dream was always to become an Arabian horse trainer,” he explains. As he followed that dream in his native Brazil, Carlinhos became affiliated with the famous Brazilian breeder, Luciano Cury, and the horses he produced at his venerable stud, Haras Boa Vista. Working with Cury and the likes of Seduction HBV, Psyche Illusion HBV, Ryadika HBV and so many others honed his skills and sharpened his desire to compete on a global level.

After achieving success in Brazil, Carlinhos decided to relocate to Scottsdale, where he found a new mentor in Rodolfo Guzzo. “Royal Arabians and Guzzo Worldwide gave me a chance as an assistant trainer,” says Carlinhos. During that time, he cared for a multitude of imported global greats, such as leading sires, national champions, and producers of worldwide influence such as El Tino, Soul of Marwan AS, and RH Triana. He was also responsible for the maintenance and preparation of multi-national winners AJ Kharena, Sahara Dawarah, Ghazala El Jamaal and Rhadashah Arabco. “That helped me get a start in America and grow into the horseman that I am today,” he asserts. Carlinhos took advantage of the opportunities and continued to gain a reputation as a talented horseman of remarkable good character.

Carlinhos has risen to the top tier of Arabian horse showmen. During the 2022 United States National Championships, he was called upon to step in and present some very prolific individuals. Carlinhos won such major titles as U.S. National Champion ABS Yearling Colt with Stardom Sky for Desert Sky Arabians, Reserve National Champion Junior Stallion with Emir Sahara for Haras Sahara of Brazil, and Reserve National Champion Junior Mare with Keishah Bint Lami RB for Duke and Renae Mendel.
PCF Arabians’ owner, Sam Peacemaker, is focused on the future and sees Carlinhos as an asset in that plan. “I am very happy to have Carlinhos as a part of the PCF Arabians team. I have known him for many years and have always admired his talent presenting Arabian horses in-hand. His timing, patience, and overall horsemanship has impressed me. With his Regional, Scottsdale, and National Championship wins, Carlinhos has proven his ability to train and show on the highest levels of competition. Combining his talents with those of Diego Rodriguez and the support staff here at PCF, I am excited about the new chemistry already apparent and for the bright future ahead. I celebrate the individual and collective accomplishments of all the staff here at PCF, and I am ever grateful.”
Moving forward, Carlinhos is also focused on furthering the PCF Arabians agenda. “Over the years, I got to know Sam and was impressed by his reputable breeding program and the standard of quality in his horses,” Carlinhos explains. “When an opportunity became available at PCF, I knew I had to take it. It is a dream come true for me, and I am forever grateful to Sam and PCF for their confidence in me. One of my favorite memories in the show ring was with a horse he bred, Emerlee PCF, when she was named the Scottsdale Reserve Champion Junior Filly in 2021. My hope is to help Sam and his entire team have continued success in the show ring. I am thrilled to show and prepare the PCF name and their beautiful horses and vision around the world.”
