HOW LONG have you been interested in horses?
Juliana: My whole life, but acted on it three years ago when Signature Oak Stables built their barn in our neighborhood.
HOW DID you come to the decision that an Arabian was the horse for you?
We both were introduced and became enthralled with the breed through trainer, Kayleigh Meyer, and never looked elsewhere after the initial introduction.
WHAT STEPS did you take in getting involved with horses?
We asked questions about the barn and lesson program and Rob turned us over to Kayleigh for weekly and biweekly lessons which quickly turned into Juliana leasing, then buying RD Beyonni. I purchased Afires Starlin in 2021.
HOW HAS your experience with Signature Oak Stables and the community been going so far?
Juliana: It has been one in a million! The fact that my mom and I have never ridden a horse before, along with the trust and training of Kayleigh, this adventure has taught us both, and within one year, RD Beyonni and I achieved our first place championship at Region 14 in 2021. Rose: The Arabian horse community is full of welcoming and gracious people. We feel like we have been members our whole life with the way we have been embraced, regardless of our riding experience.

WHAT ARE your goals with your horses?
To have fun and compete. We trust the process and where it will lead us.
HOW DID you know RD Beyonni and Afires Starlin were the horses for you? Juliana: Between the pep in his step and his goofball attitude, RD Beyonni and I are a perfect match. I loved knowing that we will grow and learn together.
Rose: Afires Starlin is handsome, and I feel regal on him. He is comfortable, yet exciting to ride; and is good and safe. I am lucky to have a horse with great experience so I know that I will always have a trusted leader.
WHAT DISCIPLINE(S) do you show in and why did you choose them? Juliana: I currently show in hunter pleasure, but also showed saddle seat. It was great to feel the difference in the two disciplines. Rose: I am having a great time with saddle seat and look forward to my show debut this year.
What has been your favorite experience so far while being in the Arabian horse community?
Juliana: Showing in Wendell Arena and watching SF Afterschoc in the liberty class in 2021. Rose: Witnessing U.S. Nationals as spectators. I was and am forever hooked on the sport. Watching the riders, horses and trainers was exhilarating. I left there having no doubts about what I could enjoy and achieve as a rider and having my daughter do it all with me is the icing on the cake!
IF YOU WERE to offer any advice for someone who was thinking about getting involved with Arabians, what would it be? Be open minded. The Arabian horse, with all its beauty, is capable of so many riding styles.
