Dear Friends,
The Breeding Pays Futurity was created by like-minded and passionate people dedicated to the preservation of the Arabian breed. It is the biggest payout futurity in North America, rewarding $520,000 in its first two years.
This exciting program, the largest payout potential ever at the U.S. Nationals, is the result of big dreams and determined action. The 200,000 payout for two classes was initiated to accomplish four specific goals:
~ Reward Arabian Horse Owners and Breeders
~ Recognize the Breeders with 50% of the payout!
~ Drive Arabian Horse Sales
~ Drive Arabian Breeding
After laying the groundwork to achieve these goals, our debut at the Nationals in 2022 and 2023 exceeded all expectations, with Breeding Pays having two of the largest halter classes at the show with rewards of $100,000 each paid out to the top ten.
The inclusion of Amateurs into the Breeding Pays classes has also been successful and a source of great prestige. Amateur participation has been robust with each class having three place in the top twelve to earn the additional $30,000 in prize money, for a total of $120,000 in two years.
We have found a winning strategy that rewards everyone, especially the Arabian horse. Nominate your stallions, mares and foals today! 2024 Nominations are for foals born in 2025 that will show in 2027 and eligibility for the classes requires nomination of the dam or sire in the breeding year.
Join us!
Cindy McGown

Stacy Sachen | Park City, UT

Stacy has been involved with Arabian horses since the 70s/80s, and re-entered the industry in 2014, producing 2-3 foals a year. Loved for their grace and beauty, Stacy turned her passion for the breed into an exciting opportunity to combine her business smarts with her equine knowledge learned over decades.
After studying the evolution of the breed, Stacy started with an embryo, then purchased two broodmares to create the foundation of her breeding program you see today. For her, seeing the foals born that she carefully breeds each year and planning the next cross is what keeps her going.
Her belief that breeders are the foundation in any breed and are the basis for everyone to grow from, led her to become a founding member of Breeding Pays. “The Arabian breed is one of the best at acknowledging breeders,” says Stacy, “and Breeding Pays says it all with their title focus and financial incentive.”
Though the first years of a new program can be challenging, as a founding member, Stacy appreciates the energy and excitement surrounding the program in such a short time and values the strong support Breeding Pays has received from fellow breeders and trainers. “I have enjoyed meeting so many amazing people dedicated to the breed.”

Arabian horses have been in Sandro’s life since the beginning. “They are my everything,” he shares, “ I can’t see or imagine my life with any other breed. They are simply the best.”
That passion and dedication to the Arabian horse has led Sandro’s involvement in helping others build their breeding programs for over 20 years, as well as his own for the last 10. He sees value in the many different rewards of breeding. That can be in the form of winning show titles or selling them for big money, but for him most of all, it’s seeing his dreams come alive.
Sandro understands the importance of new programs that bring excitement and additional opportunities to the show ring, and Breeding Pays is a win-win for breeders and the industry. “We should all support what we love,” he says, “and Breeding Pays incentivizes people to continue breeding exceptional Arabian horses.”

Rodrigo Gonzalez | Mexico/Arizona

Rodrigo Gonzalez has been breeding Arabian horses for 10 years; a longtime passion of his since the beginning. “There is nothing more rewarding than to see your creation become a reality that started as a dream,” he says.
Becoming a Founding Member of Breeding Pays wasn’t a hard sell when approached by well respected industry members and long-time friends Cindy McGown and Mark Davis. “Being part of these programs is important if you believe in its mission, and anything for breeders by breeders has my sole support. A great idea is only sustainable if supported by like-minded individuals, and this I believe, is what our industry needs.”

The Ames family has a multi-generational history of horse breeding in Minnesota. First known for the prize-winning Percherons they farmed with, the Ames’ focus shifted to one of that massive breed’s ancestral bloodlines, the Arabian horse. For over 50 years, their Arabian horse breeding program at Cedar Ridge has produced countless national and international champions.
With so many victories achieved over the years, Lara Ames still finds it most rewarding when the horses she breeds and sells have success with their new owners. “As the breeder, you remain connected with the horse whomever the owner is,” she explains. “We became founding members of Breeding Pays because we very much believe there must be incentives for breeders to keep them involved and to encourage new people to participate. After all, without breeders, we don’t have a breed.”

Sylvain and Robin joined the Arabian community when they purchased their first horse in 2017. Since then, Desert Sky Arabians has grown and now owns 17 Arabian horses, including Champion Mares OFW Jewel of Marwan, Mistic Dominic HVP and AJ Kharena, as well as Champion Stallions, El Tino and Stardom Sky, producers of champion winning get.
Sylvain Allard & Robin Andrews | Scottsdale, AZ

Duke and Renae have been breeding and showing Arabian horses since 2004. Although Duke loves the social aspect of the Arabian community, Renae is the one who loves to be in the show ring! She has shown and won multiple National Championships and has been nominated several times for Amateur of the Year. The different programs that the Arabian shows offer is what keeps it exciting, especially the new Breeding Pays Futurity.

Gary Kehl | Herriman, UT & Scottsdale, AZ

Gary Kehl has been breeding Arabian horses for over 20 years, beginning in 2002. His involvement was launched when he went to an Arabian horse auction and was “so impressed with their beauty and attitude, I got hooked!” What started as a singular passion has grown into a “family affair,” with Gary’s grandchildren representing the latest generation.
Gary is drawn by the creativity and potential of horse breeding. “I appreciate the challenge of matching each mare with the right stallion and then waiting to see the results of that baby,” he states. That joy of anticipation and savoring the outcome drew Gary to become a founding member of Breeding Pays. “I wanted to encourage more people to enjoy that special moment when their foal arrives!” he exclaims. “And this program provides a financial incentive for more people to enjoy breeding. They may even be rewarded for promoting the breed!”
In Gary’s eyes, programs like this one are crucial to a healthy Arabian horse industry. “I think having an attainable cash reward provides excitement and much more. The Breeding Pays program also offers an important opportunity to get a return on your investment.”

Though long-time members of the Arabian horse community, Jim and Mary Martha Hagale established Hagale Family Arabians just four years ago with their return to breeding. After finding their love for Arabian horses nearly 30 years ago with the great stallion Mamage, the family took a brief pause after their daughters went to college; but now that Jamie and Jennifer have families of their own, it was a perfect time to jump back in.
Their breeding program is more heavily focused on performance horses, but they’ve recently acquired some incredible halter champions and are breeding a select number of foals per year that they hope will accomplish great things in the halter arena as youngsters. From this, becoming Founding Members of the Breeding Pays Futurity program was a natural next step, and because they own the successful halter stallion, Farouk Palazzotto, who they believe has the potential to become an influential sire within the program. “Not only would the program be a benefit to his future foals,” says Jim, “but ultimately, we are true breeders at heart, and are eager to support a program that works to reward not just owners of futurity winners, but acknowledges and rewards breeders directly as well.”

Luciano Cury | Brazil

Luciano Cury’s creation of HBV, along with Doug Dahmen, began in the United States in 1981 at the renowned Gainey Arabians facility. In 1996, he started his breeding venture in Brazil at the beautiful Haras Boa Vista, located in the highlands of the Serra da Mantiqueira.
“I began my breeding with Anglo-Arabian horses,” says Luciano. “One day, I went to see the Anglo-Arabians at Santa Gertrudes Farm. That’s when I met the Arabian horse and immediately fell in love. Soon after, I moved to the USA, and contacted Doug, who introduced me to the horses there and my passion grew, driving me to breed them.”
“I focus a lot on maternal lines,” he continues, “and seeing the results of these crosses reflecting the quality of these lines is the most rewarding aspect for me.”
Luciano became a founding member of the Breeding Pays Futurity because he strongly believes in the program’s mission and sees it as a way to showcase his breeding.

Orrion Farms’ has been dedicated to breeding Arabian horses since 1984 and have maintained their commitment to the highest quality standards. The OFW program’s strategy of carefully selecting 25-30 mares each season and pairing them with top stallions worldwide reflects a meticulous approach to generational breeding.
Steve & Christina Poore’s decision to become founding members of the Breeding Pays program underscores their appreciation for the principles of rewarding not only owners but also breeders. The recognition that success in the show ring is a culmination of generations of thoughtful breeding aligns with the ethos of Breeding Pays. Overall, Orrion Farms’ and the Poores’ commitment to excellence and their involvement in programs like Breeding Pays highlight their dedication to the Arabian horse breeding industry and the recognition of the value of careful, generational breeding practices.

Mike Weinstein | San Francisco, CA

Psynergy Enterprise Developments has been a leading breeder of Arabian horses for more than 50 years. Michael Weinstein and his family started Aries Arabians in the 70s with a strong Polish-influenced program in both performance and halter. It was the home of such notable horses as Kajora, dam of Gazal al Shaqab, and the Russian import stallion, *Menes, who founded his own dynasty.
Michael reimagined his program with the development of Psynergy and started with a bang, acquiring the stallion *El Nabila B, whose sire, *Kubinec, is a grandson of *Menes. While *El Nabila B mares are cherished producers in many programs, his sons, such as Titan AS and Atticus ENB, continue to influence global shows and breeding stock.
Fifty years of elite breeding is not the past—it drives the future of Psynergy Enterprise Developments as a global breeder of excellence.

Murray and Shirley are currently celebrating their 25th anniversary of breeding and owning Arabian horses. As with many familiar stories, they fell in love with the Arabian horse by chance. “For us, first and foremost, it is a passion and love for the Arabian horse,” says Murray, “and the lifestyle they provide is a magical ride.”
They both understand that breeding horses is an enormous commitment and responsibility. The challenge of trying to breed great horses better is their ultimate goal, but just as important, is ensuring the horses they produce bring joy not only to them, but to others as well. “This,” shares Murray, “is the most rewarding aspect of breeding.”
Becoming Founding Members of the Breeding Pays Futurity was an easy decision. “We are so fortunate to have many wonderful breeding futurity programs within the Arabian horse industry, and since many of the programs already in operation focus on the yearlings, a program that focused solely on 2-year-olds plays an integral part in moving the breed, and the young horses, forward,” Murray believes. “This program is very important. The Breeding Pays Halter Futurity offers breeders and owners (as well as amateur owners) the opportunity to enjoy their Arabian horses at the U.S. Nationals in a fun, exciting, and valuable way, thanks to prize money paybacks. It adds immense value to those 2-year-olds nominated, and encourages breeders and owners to continue the show careers of their young horses.”

Cindy McGown & Mark Davis | Scottsdale, AZ

Cindy McGown and Mark Davis have been breeding Arabian horses for the past 18 years while transforming their family-founded Royal Arabians into a worldrenowned breeding and training operation. Their inspiration is the incredible beauty of the Arabian horse, which impassions them to continually reassess and improve their breeding outcomes to come closer to their perception of perfection.
For Cindy, the foals are the most rewarding aspect of breeding. “They are so fun to see,” she relates. “It is thrilling when you see the breeding outcome you envisioned worked out, because that is not always the case. It encourages you to continue down that path. Seeing the foals grow and become the best mares, stallions, and geldings they can be, whether as a performance, halter, or family horse, is very rewarding.
“We, as the Arabian horse community, must provide exciting, new ways to promote ourselves to ensure the ongoing success of the Arabian horse industry. If we, as concerned individuals do not participate in improving the overall industry, I believe it will not continue. We have seen a significant downward trend in breeding, and as a group we need to create fun, fair and rewarding competitions in appealing places to ensure the continuation of the industry and breed in the U.S.
“As founding members of Breeding Pays, we are, as a group, providing a new entity that has, so far, been very successful. It is designed so that everyone can participate just by breeding to or buying a foal from one of the stallions in the program. We put a lot of effort into ensuring our judges are fair and honest, and that, whether you’re an amateur who likes to show horses, or you’re an owner who uses a professional horse trainer to show your horses, you have the same opportunity to win the prize money. Fifty percent of a Breeding Pays horse’s winnings goes to the breeder to encourage further breeding of the beautiful Arabian horse. They must be publicly acknowledged and rewarded for their contribution to the breed.
“It is critically important for all of us to get involved where we can in programs that promote our breed. We need to develop more experiences at both the national and local level for current owners, as well as individuals who are new to the Arabian horse. It is our industry to lose; we must take action to grow and evolve the market to ensure a promising future.”
I belong to the Breeding Pays Futurity because of the Arabian Horse. It’s not hard to give back when someone or something has done so much for you.
- MURRAY POPPLEWELLEnjoyment and opportunity are the words that come to mind when I think of the Breeding Pays Futurity. This class has added a lot of fun and camaraderie to the Nationals and from 10th place and up, the prize money is going a long way towards offsetting the expense of competition. Rewarding breeders and owners with meaningful prize money can only stimulate a breeder’s desire to create more foals to participate in this program.
- ANDREW SELLMAN
I’m proud to be part of the Breeding Pays Futurity because it’s very refreshing to see a group of respected breeders get together and do something special for the halter industry that we love so much, especially when it pays breeders, owners and amateur handlers. I invite breeders that have not joined this program yet to do so; it’s so rewarding when we all work together!
- SANDRO PINHAWe believe this futurity will open (huge) doors with renewed hope for breeders.
Breeders pay the bills, do the work and experience the pride of raising and competing with these wonderful animals … receiving some much-needed credit and $$$ inspires us to trudge on and breed more.
We must produce quality and we need confidence in knowing that our horses will be judged fairly. This futurity gives us that confidence.
Competing in the 2022 inaugural event, Janene, an amateur handler at 61 years of age, presented our Princess Juliah, a foal from our 2020 foal crop, and competed against major trainers and large breeding farms.
She bested all of them except two, to achieve Bronze Champion and $25,000 ($10,000 for Bronze + $15,000 Amateur Incentive). The pride we felt at that moment from the support of our peers and competitors was overwhelming.
We will be back!
