Success is not a destination … It is a Journey The love of the Arabian horse has been a lifelong passion for internationally acclaimed horseman, David Boggs, and his greatest joy is sharing that passion with those he loves—his family and friends ... “The Arabian horse has enriched my life in countless ways, most significantly, through my family. My father and mother shared their love of the horses with my siblings and me, and now I am able to share that same love with my own family. I am fortunate that my children, twin daughters Lindsay and Courtney, daughter Emma, and my son, Jake, all enjoy the horses. The special friends we have made and the wonderful people we have met, the beautiful places we have visited and the exciting adventures we have had, are all because of the Arabian horse. Words cannot describe how blessed I feel. I want to share that with others.” David Boggs’ heartfelt desire has become his life’s work. Over the past 30 years, he has traveled the world from Paris, France to Pewaukee, Wisconsin; from Dubai City, Dubai to Des Moines, Iowa; and from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Santa Ynez, California, David has visited every continent where Arabian horses live. Along the way, he has met members of royal families, rulers of nations, aristocrats, titans of industry, movie stars and rock stars. However, his favorite people are those who love the Arabian horse: breeders, trainers, grooms, those who own Arabian horses, and those who dream of the possibility, especially the children. “I love everything about the Arabian horse. To me, it is one of the most perfect creatures on earth. The beauty of the Arabian is incomparable, and their spirit, kindness, intelligence, courage, heart, gentleness, and love of people captivated me when I was just a boy. That connection has never diminished. Every day I find something new to love about the horses. To work with them is a dream come true. Sure, it’s demanding— the horses need attention and care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year—but the personal and professional rewards are worth every minute.”

“In my search for truly great Arabian horses, I keep an open mind. When a small breeder comes to me and tells me they have a superstar, I listen. Many of the most influential horses in history are the result of small breeders’ programs. I believe these dedicated people are the backbone of our industry. I totally appreciate their commitment and respect the importance of their contributions. There is an indescribable thrill when I see a special horse that comes from a small breeder. I can see their pride in their accomplishment … it’s very rewarding! “Generally, if I see a horse that really impresses me, I am confident that I can find a buyer for it. If it’s a horse I would want to own for myself, then I know I can work with it, even if it’s not conditioned or trained. For me, finding a diamond in the rough is often the most exciting opportunity. Taking a horse that has unrealized potential and developing it into a show ring superstar is a fantastic experience; it really doesn’t get much better than that.” David Boggs’ passion for the Arabian horse is key to the success of Midwest Training Centre. His passion created his vision, it provides his energy, and it sustains his commitment to search out and find, acquire, transform, and showcase the crème de la crème of the breed. Thirty years of experience has trained David’s eye to see what others miss … potential. His ability to see beyond the immediate, and visualize the possibility, is not a skill, it is a gift. David’s vision of the ideal Arabian horse has evolved over the years. Throughout his career, he has seen and evaluated thousands of Arabian horses. He studied, and mentally filed away, every facet, every conformational detail, and each individual’s pedigree in order to better understand their physical and genetic potential. His goal has always been to find horses that come the closest to his ideal—horses whose beauty, carriage, and attitude take his breath away.

At the heart of humankind’s romance with the horse is the image of a glorious Arabian stallion, a creature of indescribable beauty that represents our most deeply cherished freedoms. Magnum Psyche epitomizes this vision. An undeniable gift from God, a paradox in the most elemental sense, Magnum mirrors the love and the liberty, the strength and the gentleness toward which we travel on this road of life. So what makes Magnum worthy of such high praise? “First of all,” says leading Brazilian breeder, Polé Levy, “it’s a rare and wonderful thing to run across a horse of Magnum’s stunning beauty and conformational perfection. But when such a horse turns out to be a great sire, invariably stamping his offspring with his own finest qualities ~ well ~ that’s just not too far short of a miracle.”

1970s, and a few years later led the chestnut superstar stallion *Padron to the Arabian Triple Crown. He found fame in the show ring and fortune as a marketer, beginning with the syndication of *Padron. When the *Padron partners were ready to sell, Boggs syndicated the important sire for a whopping $11 million in 90 days. Since that time, the names of Boggs and Midwest have been synonymous with the ultimate success in halter horses, both in the show ring and in sales. The list of top of-the-line Arabians who have passed through Midwest’s Minnesota and Scottsdale facilities over the past 30 years simply defies compilation. It is not uncommon for more than one headline national champion in any given halter division to be sold through Midwest during a year, and equally routine is that the farm’s show string will dominate the regional shows and futurities it attends. In the years that it has shown at the U.S. Nationals, a steady stream of silver trophies has gone to Midwest owners. The reason for all of this success, says David Boggs, is that Midwest functions 24/7 on the principle of service to its clients, and he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. “I think when people go to look for a great horse, they’re also looking for the service as well,” Boggs explains. “What happens when you buy an expensive horse? Who looks after it? Who’s going to take care of your investment, and who’s going to guide that horse through its career? “If it’s a breeding stallion, who’s going to manage the horse, market his semen, and promote those foals? Midwest is really the full service

Success is not a destination … It is a Journey anywhere, so I truly appreciate the fact they choose Midwest Training Centre to represent them, and to show and market their horses. I believe people come to Midwest because of the great horses, and they stay with us because of the first class amenities we offer. “We strive to provide the absolute best, the most comprehensive services, the most positive experience, and the most fun possible for our clients. For example, if we have a great horse to sell, we offer to care for the horse, guide the owner and the horse through its career in the show ring, and then plan for its future breeding career. If it’s a stallion, we offer to stand and manage the horse, market his semen, and promote his offspring. If our client buys a mare, we will help them to achieve her highest potential in the show ring and then guide them in selecting the stallion with the greatest potential to “nick” with her to produce a great foal. We will keep and care for the mare, have her bred, and foal her out. Basically, our clients can enjoy all of the wonderful benefits of owning one, or even 100, world-class Arabian horses without the cost or effort of maintaining a farm. For some owners, our farm has become their farm, and in the process, our family becomes like their family. We enjoy so much together; the horses, the foals, the shows, picnics and parties—it’s a lot of fun! “I have the most amazing job in the world! It’s a lot of work, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My father told me that if something is worth having, then it’s worth working for. He also taught me, by his own example, the honor of a hard day’s work. It’s a principle I never “The horses come first at Midwest,” David reiterates. ”After all, they

The incredible success and spread of the top sire lines Midwest has promoted prompts them to look for the next step. David’s beloved *Padron founded an entire dynasty whose blood is so prevalent, it appears in a huge percentage of today’s pedigrees. For Boggs, that is cause to seek for the next adventure, finding the perfect outcross. “It creates excitement and a rebirth of passion. For me, the Arabian horse is as much a hobby as it is a livelihood; it is my passion and it is a labor of love.” - David Boggs

David Boggs David Boggs has enjoyed a career in the Arabian business that is really unparalleled. It is a career that he orchestrated himself on the foundation of the love he has for Arabian horses that was instilled in him from birth by his mother and father. He did it with the support of his close-knit family, many of whom have worked alongside him. He was also blessed with the love and commitment of the friends, employees, and clients that make up Midwest Training and Breeding Stations. Year after year, David has done his part to realize his many successes, but he is also grateful for the help that comes from above. Owners from all over the world have entrusted him with some of the finest Arabian horses ever born. Countless national and international champions have come through his barn. He has met every challenge that has come down over the years, and emerged with flying colors. It is the tapestry of family, faith, and friends, and the magic of the magnificent horses in his care that keep him positive, passionate, and moving ever forward. Foremost in David’s life are his children. David considers them to be his greatest treasures and his greatest motivation to continue to excel. They are what drive him to be the best that he can be. His twin daughters, Lyndsey and Courtney, are deep into their college careers and have grown into amazing young adults who fill their father’s heart with pride. As his youngest daughter, Emma, continues her life as a college sophomore, he looks forward to seeing Magnum Psyche and David.

her explore her future. Jake has become a fixture in Scottsdale, joining his dad on the horse farm nearly every day, and giving David the supreme pleasure of sharing his passion for horses. In his first year showing horses, 10-year-old Jake has already staked his claim as the next Boggs to light up the halter arenas around the world by winning the 2016 United States National Champion Halter Mare JTH. In doing so, Jake set an industry record as the youngest handler to win this prestigious honor. It has been another year packed with success for the many satisfied clients of David and Team Midwest. David Boggs has been honored to show some of the finest horses of Al Shaqab, member of The Qatar Foundation, including the charismatic World Champion Kahil Al Shaqab, who David describes as “six tigers by the tail to show and absolutely a thrill to present.” In Kahil’s United States debut with David on the lead, he captured the 2016 Scottsdale Grand Champion Stallion title. Midwest is also proud to introduce the great Gazal Al Shaqab to the Midwest Stallion line-up! Among the most jubilant Midwest clients are the various partnerships and wonderful individuals that make up the Aria Collection managed by Jeff Sloan. And of those partnerships, none had more to celebrate than The Triana Holdings LLC. Not only did their exquisite black mare RH Triana win the title of 2015 United States National Champion Mare, she followed that up with a unanimous victory as 2016 Scottsdale Grand Champion Mare. Quintessa Partners LLC were ecstatic as their beautiful yearling filly Aria Quintessa was named the United States National Champion Yearling Filly, and Aria Impresario earned the title of U.S. Reserve National Champion Stallion. David is grateful for the trust that all of the partners put in him and in Team Midwest. The exhilarating wins and testing times that have made up the past year have provided David with the realization that he is as blessed now as he always has been in the Arabian industry. He can still overcome
any hurdles that he encounters through the year, secure in the knowledge that he will persevere, each victory made that much sweeter the greater the challenge. David Boggs continues to lean into his faith and the support of his family and friends, for which he is eternally grateful. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the United States National Championships, David shares his favorite Nationals memory: “The year was 1982,” he recalled. “It was a magnificent October in Louisville, Kentucky, and the colors of the autumn leaves were only outdone by the color of the fiery, iridescent, chestnut stallion with a flaxen mane and fountain tail who brought the packed house to their feet on the final performance in Freedom Hall. Yes, you guessed it, I am speaking of *Padron. He was then, and is now, my everything. *Padron was my reason for building and creating the Midwest empire. I felt I needed to ensure his legacy would continue beyond the days the good Lord would leave him with us. Many have called him “The King Maker,” and that he certainly was. *Padron gave the Arabian breed his son Padrons Psyche, who gave his son Magnum Psyche, who gave his son WH Justice, and his son Ajman Moniscione, and the list goes on and on; it almost seems never-ending. The spirit that lived inside of *Padron joined mine, and together we ran through our journey of life, totally committed to each other. He remains forever etched in my heart and *Padron’s blood now runs throughout every major breeding program around the globe today. “Padron’s stall at Midwest still exists just over my shoulder in my office, with a large picture window that lets you look inside. His halter hangs on a rusty nail pounded in the wall next to my desk. I’m certain it’s just my lonesome heart calling, but sometimes, when I’m working at my desk late at night … I swear I see his shadow in the window.”

That pleased her parents, who had loved and owned Arabians since before she was born. Since then, Dick and Lara have shown many generations of Cedar Ridge champions, while Lollie has managed the breeding program that produces them. They enjoyed the show debuts of their exquisite mare, the Polish import *Perfirka, and their 2015 filly Wieza Bella, a daughter of Pogrom and Wieza Mocy, two of the finest horses produced in Poland in recent years. “The Ames Family has had a long association with the Boggs family,” says Lara Ames. “We are very pleased to have them represent two horses that we are so proud of. Thank you to everyone at Midwest, we have had some great times and look forward to many more.” Lara, *Perfirka, Lollie and Dick Ames.

Al Shaqab
Member Qatar Foundation, Qatar A passionate and dedicated visionary and an influential driving force, this is Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani for the Arabian horse in Qatar. Sheikh Hamad has spent his entire life among horses and even founded his own stud farm in Egypt. However, his life changed when in 1992, HH The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalif Al Thani, elected him as the director of his Al Shaqab Stud. Sheikh Hamad clearly then, had a mission. He travelled to many countries while selecting a remarkable collection of firstclass Arabian horses within a very short time. Thanks to his knowledge, his excellent eye for horses and an open minded approach, he lead this farm into a ‘beyond bright’ future. Under his direction, Al Shaqab Stud became not only an influential breeding program, but a most important global player. Sheikh Hamad’s reputation as a breeder is pristine and undisputed. Under his management, Al Shaqab bred the three most influential stallions of modern times, the World Champion trio of Al Adeed Al Shaqab, Gazal Al Shaqab and Marwan Al Shaqab. When wisely bred to a well-selected broodmare band, the blood of these three sires is enormously important to the present and future of our beloved breed.
Breeding top class horses is one part of Sheikh Hamad’s management. Like few other people in today’s Arabian horse scene, he understands the power of emotion when it comes to marketing and promotion. His public relations for Al Shaqab Stud and the breed as a whole, was and still is universally applauded. For 17 years, Sheikh Hamad was the propulsive force for Al Shaqab. Though Sheikh Hamad had a break from the Arabian horse scene due to health reasons over the last few years, he never lost his dedication to the breed. When HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalif Al Thani, the Father Emir, took over Al Rayyan Farm in 2014, he did not hesitate to appoint Sheikh Hamad as Director for this worldwide, respected straight Egyptian breeding program. It was a just a matter of time before Sheikh Hamad was back at the helm as the Breeding and Show Manager of Al Shaqab Stud, and as of several months ago, he in fact is back, and welcomed worldwide with open arms. “My first visit to Midwest Training Centre was a spectacular event,” says Sheikh Hamad. “Amazing hospitality and perfectly conditioned and beautifully presented show horses of excellent quality left me with a premium impression of David and his Midwest Team. I look forward to many more great moments and accomplishments with David.”

Jeff Sloan
Aria International Jeff Sloan has known David Boggs for over 30 years. Their mutual respect for each other has grown into a lifelong business relationship and friendship. The trust that has been built from a result of their many successes together, gives Sloan the confidence to recommend Midwest services to his many partners. He explains, “I’ve known, worked with, competed against, and celebrated success with David Boggs since we met in 1982. I know that in any of my horse endeavors, if David and I are on the same team to campaign a horse, the odds of success in the show ring, and in the marketplace, are greatly accelerated.” As Sloan continues his journey of excellence to create a collection of the world’s finest Arabian horses, David and Midwest will no doubt factor very centrally into his vision and the execution of it. “I’ve been fortunate to have been awarded many U.S. National Championships for our horses, many of those having been shown by David,” says Sloan. “Aside from our own championships, my most memorable U.S. Nationals moment came in 1982 in Louisville. Just six months prior, I had first learned what an Arabian horse is, so it was all still fresh and exciting. When I arrived in Louisville for the show, I was introduced to Bob Stratmore and David Boggs on the day that Padron was to be shown that evening in the stallion finals. David sensed my extreme enthusiasm for the Arabian horse, and asked me to meet him at the Midwest stalls after the stallion championship class. Well, for a kid just getting started in Arabians, that was a transformative moment, and that night as I watched David and Padron in center ring winning it all, it was all larger than life. That showing and the celebration afterwards at the Midwest stalls left an indelible impression in my mind that I can recall vividly, and one which no doubt was a catalytic event leading to my own lifelong passion for and involvement in the Arabian horse breed.”

Patty Feola Patty Feola has been friends with David Boggs for nearly three decades. “I respect his judgment, his endless energy, and his deep appreciation for the beauty of all horses,” she explains. “And I admire his serious approach to the business of Team Midwest. Over the years, we have been partners in successful projects with horses by Padron, Padrons Psyche, Magnum Psyche, and Fame VF. You can’t knock success, and there’s no barn more fun to celebrate with! I am very excited about my weanling Vitorio TO colt. He is full of attitude and wants to be a show horse, so I’m anxious to see how he does in the show ring.” Patty’s vision for the future is long-ranging. “As a breeder, I tend to look ‘down the road’ to the next foal, the next generation, or even the next decade of production. I own daughters of Aicyng, A Jakarta, Ever After NA, Legacy of Fame, Magic Dream, Magnum Psyche, National Fame, Noble Prize, Padrons Psyche, QR Marc, Regal Actor JP, and Solstice, and I am always looking for the perfect phenotype and genotype for each mare. My very next foal will be by a young stallion here in the Northwest named Marekk. He is an incredibly charismatic son of Pogrom and his babies that I’ve seen are pretty spectacular! So, my hope for the near future? A beautiful foal crop, a ribbon in the ring, and a wine rack full of Northwest vintage!” “All National shows produce amazing memories ... the triple crown winners, the promise of the Futurity Champions, the sheer energy you come home with having had your efforts validated and your dreams renewed,” Patty said. “But, my favorite memory from a U.S. Nationals has to be the Stallion Championship in 1987, when Fame VF— wearing number 816 (yes, I remember his number)—was pinned National Champion. That ribbon meant so much to so many people! The Fame VF partnership blew the door open for small breeders like myself to have a realistic chance to produce national quality horses, in both halter and performance. I have had the honor of having Fame VF-bred horses in my barn for 25 years now, my current gem being a beautiful bay Magnum Psyche daughter out of MFA Periwinkle, a striking Fame VF daughter I was lucky enough to acquire from renowned breeder, Sheila Morgan. I look forward to many more exciting Nationals moments!”

Lisa Gaudio and Jimmy Kazanjian When circumstances demanded that Lisa Gaudio sell her handpicked breeding herd, she left the Arabian business for 13 years. In 2013, she began to search for some of her original horses. “I was at Scottsdale searching DataSource at the AHA booth. I said Kyrie Elleison’s name aloud and, miraculously, the woman next to me knew where she was! I went to see her the next day and bought her. We wanted to breed her to Vitorio TO, but before that happened we lost her.” Another miracle was on the way. Lisa’s veterinary team harvested Kyrie’s ovaries and found viable eggs. On the very day Lisa was meeting Vitorio for the first time at Midwest, several Vitorio x Kyrie embryos were transferred to recipient mares, with three miracle foals expected in January. “It was fun being with David while all of that was happening,” she recalled. That incredible day held more treasure. “My good friend Javan had told me that I would like National Champion Half-Arabian Mare, Beni TG, who was at Midwest. That same day, David showed her to us and we fell in love,” she continued. “We rationalized that if we did not buy her, none of Kyrie’s embryos would survive!” The deal was made and Lisa is thrilled to be showing Beni in Amateur to Handle Halter at Nationals for the first time. “You can hear my excitement! I can hardly wait!” she

exclaims. “We love Midwest. My husband has never had horses before and he adores everybody there and the feeling of being a team. We love the camaraderie. And I love sharing this with him. We shared my favorite Nationals moment just last year; seeing David Boggs show RH Triana to the United States National Champion Mare title. She takes my breath away.”

Paul & Sabrina Glans Coulter Cadillac - Buick - GMC
“How fortunate we are. The Arabian horse has been such a key element in our lives for nearly 37 years,” says Paul Glans. “I continuously reflect back to the years of learning and enjoyment that this amazing sport has brought to Sabrina and I. We remain grateful for the steadfast support that the Arabian horse community sheds upon us and feel grateful for those that we have met along the way.” “Team Midwest, you are nothing less than upstanding,” Paul continues. “Sabrina and I not only embrace your nature, but have continued to enjoy the strong sense of character in your staff and fellow clients. We feel blessed for our winnings, but in retrospect feel so much more fortune from our experiences through the years. This love affair with the Arabian horse is core in our lives, and remains our intended retreat for years to come.” Paul commends this special breed, the Arabian horse, and does not for one minute take for granted the unity that flows hand in hand with his career. “Thank you, David, and your team at hand,” he says warmly. “This divine hobby we embrace is our enjoyment, and your support of my career at Coulter Cadillac|GMC|Buick is much appreciated. Sabrina and I look forward to many more years of celebration for us all.” Postario (Pogrom x Psylk Chic)

Dan & Maureen Grossman Stone Ridge Arabians
Dan and Maureen Grossman have loved and bred Arabian horses for a very long time at Stone Ridge Arabians, their home in Bloomington, Indiana. Maureen had an early entry into the business, as she got her first Arabian horse when she was in elementary school. Danny’s first experience with Arabians was shortly after they were married and they have been owning and breeding some of the world’s finest horses ever since. Among the great horses that Dan and Maureen have had along the way are the legendary Bey Shah, multi-National Champion and Leading Sire DA Valentino, and the spectacular international champion Donna Molta Bella SRA. Also of note are multiple National Champions Taras Tribulation and HL Justa Sparkle, National Champion Bella Angelfix, Albufera, Nini, HS Mostly, and many more over the years. They now have several wonderful foals all out of DA Valentino daughters who are producing extremely well. Maureen gives much of the credit to David Boggs and Team Midwest for their success. “Stone Ridge Arabians originally became Midwest clients in 1984,” she said. “David Boggs has been our ‘Supreme Leader’ helping us breed, market, show, and manage our herd of loveable horses. Now, Midwest Station II also has an amazing group of horse trainers and caretakers. They clearly provide great care for each and every horse. The years of our cooperative, fun, exciting, and loving relationship have been fantastic.” National Champion Donna Molta Bella SRA (DA Valentino x RD Fabreanna)

Marino Family
Anthony, Denise, Brittany & AJ When AJ Marino was considering buying Kharmel BR for the Marino Arabians breeding program, the mare was also being looked at by David Boggs. The two men met, and although AJ walked away with the mare, he by no means walked away from David and Midwest Training Centre. On the contrary, the Midwest family has become a natural extension to the Marino family’s tight-knit clan. From the earliest beginnings in 1993, AJ and his sister Brittany have enjoyed the challenge of breeding and showing great Arabian horses. Evidence of their success is their homebred Kharisma M, Kharmel BR’s outstanding daughter sired by six-time National Champion DA Valentino. Combining the filly’s overall quality and training with the skill that AJ has himself developed under the tutelage of David and his Midwest Team, AJ Marino showed Kharisma M to the 2014 U.S. National Champion Mare AAOTH title. Not to be outdone, David led Kharisma M to the U.S. National Champion Futurity Filly honors the same year. “That was my favorite Nationals,” AJ explained. “Not only did Kharisma M win twice, our good friends Dan and Maureen Grossman showed Donna Molta Bella SRA, another daughter of DA Valentino, to the U.S. National Champion Yearling Filly title.”

Miles Family
Steve, Darla & Whitney Miles Darla and Steve Miles call their Milestone Arabians “a little piece of heaven just outside the city limits of Kansas City.” They have put together a wonderful retreat full of Arabian horses that spring from some of the most valuable and important bloodlines in the world. They were drawn to Midwest because they represent so many fantastic stallions that fit perfectly with the pedigrees of the mares of Milestone. “All the way around, Midwest is a professional, yet personable team of great people,” Darla explains. “When you watch the team together at horse shows or behind the scenes, you just want to be a part of that success, a part of the fun!” Being true breeders, Darla and Steve are looking forward to many more beautiful foals in the future, and continued success with Team Midwest. “We expect to be making more amazing memories with this great group of friends we have come to love,” says Darla. She has so many great Nationals memories already, it is hard to choose a favorite. “I guess it would have to be winning our first United States National Championship with our gelding Valldez,” she reveals. “That would rank number one for us.”

Janey Morse
Oak Ridge Arabians “As I think of the U.S. Nationals, I have so many wonderful memories,” shares Janey Morse. “My first U.S. National Amateur to Handle championship with JJ La Estrella (my all-time favorite purebred mare) and showing She Be Adiva KBS (the most challenging of all) to the same title are high on my list. But the very best were when our young colt, Vitorio TO, won each of his three United States National Champion titles. Perhaps Vitorio’s wins are my fondest because of the joy that Don and I felt together and shared with all of Team Midwest and friends in the Arabian Horse community.” Janey is pleased that Vitorio has returned from his lease at the Polish State Studs. “Having Vitorio back in America is wonderful and having him at Midwest is just as wonderful. Vitorio continues to prove that he is a leading sire, not only here at home, but abroad as well,” she continues. “When his tenure of ‘traveling ambassador’ ended and Vitorio handed the baton to his international offspring to continue his legacy, we all knew that David Boggs and Team Midwest would author his next chapter. It was a happy day when Team Midwest gave him a first class welcome home celebration and they haven’t missed a beat in getting him ready to continue his journey of excellence. Vitorio, a five-time National and International Champion, proudly returned to the Stallion Barn of Midwest with the goal to add to his greatest title, Leading Halter Sire. Perhaps the most exciting thing that has happened since his return is that Vitorio broke all records in Scottsdale as he was named 2016 Leading Halter Sire of the World’s Largest Arabian Horse Show. What does his future hold? Vitorio TO (DA Valentino x Sol Natique)

Kathleen Ohlsson Sweden Arabian Stud
Kathleen Ohlsson was thirteen when she got her first Arabian horse. Nearly twenty years later, she is still as fascinated by them as she was in the very beginning. It is an obsession that has led her to secure her credentials as a National judge. The extreme beauty, versatility, and kindness of the Arabian horses deeply touch Kathleen’s soul, as does her exquisite jet-black stallion, the International Gold Champion, Magic Magnifique. Exotic and refined, he is line-bred to Thee Desperado, and was the first Scandinavian Arabian to stand at Midwest. Kathleen appreciates the Midwest team, saying, “I have always loved seeing their high-quality horses, photographs of their lovely farm, and hearing of the amazing wins they would report from the latest show they had attended, not to mention their worldwide success in general. I have always been very impressed with David and Team Midwest. Today my stallion and I are a part of Midwest, and David and his team members all have such big hearts; they are always professional with tons of experience. I could not be more grateful to all at Midwest.” Magic Magnifique (True Colours x Magic Mon Amour)

Gina Pelham
Haras La Catalina, Argentina Haras La Catalina is the Argentine home of Lady Georgina Pelham, where she has been breeding Arabian horses for many years. Gina always looks forward to renewing her connection with the Midwest team. “Team Midwest as a whole is quite wonderful and I love visiting them all during Scottsdale time, when they always make me feel truly welcome and at home,” she says. “Over the years I have loved David as a good and dear friend, and I always wish him the very best.” It was due to her friendship and association with David Boggs that she was able to purchase the excellent sire Legacy of Fame, Gina’s personal favorite. By the Aladdinn grandson Legacy of Gold and from a Fame VF daughter who is out of a doubleSerafix mare, Legacy of Fame’s pedigree vibrates with some of the greatest American foundational bloodlines. Gina salutes the United States Nationals on its first 50 years. She is delighted to be celebrating her own Golden Anniversary as an Arabian horse breeder in 2016, and she looks forward to the future with great anticipation.

Stan Schneider is the owner and chairman of Schneider Saddlery, a 68-year-old family owned business servicing the entire equestrian industry. Since the 1960’s, Schneiders has specialized in products for the Arabian horse industry, and today is the largest supplier in the world. Their products are used on champions from Scottsdale to Brazil, and Australia to Dubai. A guiding principal of Schneiders has been to work with leading professionals to develop or improve products that help their customers better train, show, care for and enjoy their horses. This process has led to hundreds of innovations over the years. Stan’s relationship with David and Team Midwest is a perfect example of this principal. They have collaborated on products since the late 1970’s. Among the most widely used are the original patent leather cable show halters, training halters, Ultra grooming products, blanket and sheet line, and numerous stable supplies. “I want to again thank David and his talented staff for sharing their expertise with us,” Stan said. “And even more, for his friendship.” It is relationships like theirs that are the key to Schneiders longevity and success and are at the core of Stan’s favorite Nationals moment. “The first Nationals Schneiders ever attended was in 1969 in Oklahoma City. That event solidified our relationship with the Arabian market and enabled us to meet and work with trainers and amateurs from all over the country. It was indeed a turning point in our history. We are very proud that Schneider at Arabian Nationals 1969.

Melissa Subjeck Melissa Subjeck appreciates the total experience that she receives at Midwest. Whether as a buyer, a seller, or owner, Melissa feels like she is kept “in the loop” every step of the way. “Midwest not only does a top notch job training horses, but also training their amateurs,” she related. “Alcides Rodrigues was thorough, patient, and encouraging while schooling me, a novice at halter, for the 2016 Scottsdale show.” It was that effort that paid off when Melissa led Remember the Nyte RMA to the unanimous Scottsdale Champion Half-Arabian Gelding, Amateur to Handle honors and Alcides showed him to the unanimous Scottsdale Champion Half-Arabian Senior Gelding title. “Scottsdale was a big highlight of the year,” Melissa said. “In addition to those victories, Valik ORA was the unanimous Junior Champion Arabian Gelding!” Both horses followed up their big wins with unanimous wins at Region 7, and then Melissa’s yearling filly, Endless Summer Nyte RMA, made her debut at Region 1 as the unanimous Champion Half-Arabian Filly with Alcides. In addition, Ebony by Valentino, also bred by Melissa, won Youth Nationals with her young owner— also a unanimous win. Remember the Nyte RMA, Endless Summer Nyte RMA, and Ebony by Valentino are all out of Melissa’s Saddlebred mare, CF Mamie’s Night Out. With the U.S. Nationals on the horizon, Melissa recalled her favorite Nationals memory. “It was when David showed Wieza Mocy to her win,” she said. “There is just something magical about that mare. And, being of Polish descent, it was pretty neat to see all the Polish flags when she won!” Remember The Nyte RMA (Vitorio TO x CF Mamies Night Out)

Chloe & Al Cox Sycamore Arabians
Chloe and Al Cox have always admired David Boggs and Midwest for his success in the show ring. They recognized that he represents some of the top Arabian horses from around the world. “We have only been associated with David for about two months now,” said Sycamore Arabians manager, Jean Cubeta. “But we look forward to a continued relationship with Midwest in the future. We are especially looking forward to seeing David in the show ring with our WH Justice filly, SF Justaserenade, next year in Scottsdale.” She is one of two fillies that were recently shipped by Sycamore to David once he saw photos of them. “He was very excited about SF Justaserande, who is out of a mare that we own,” Jean continued. “David feels that she is going to be very competitive and could bring Sycamore Arabians a lot of championships and prize money, while increasing her marketability. We find that he is a very honest man, and we like trainers that look out for us.” Jean summarized a favorite moment for the Sycamore contingent at the showcase event for Arabian horses. “The U.S. Nationals is an amazing show,” she said. “Not only the beautiful horses, but all the glory and glitter! Wonderful events and vendors. What we remember most of the U.S. Nationals is when Sshameless made his return to the show ring. He was such an amazing stallion! He was taken too soon from the Arabian horse world and he will be greatly missed. We have one of his daughters here at Sycamore Arabians.”

Golan Tzuberi Golan Stables, Israel
Since its inception in 2006, Golan Stables has specialized in breeding Missouri Fox Trotters with such stunning success that about 80% of their horses are titled world champions. Known as the largest ongoing operational stables in Israel, Golan Stables is also the largest importer of alfalfa barley cubes and they manufacture and produce fly sheets and covers. In the last three years, Golan Tzuberi has expanded his interests to include the importation and breeding of Arabian horses. Tzuberi had no problem deciding who to trust with the Golan Stables Arabians. “When it came to selecting a place for my new colt, there was only one place, Midwest,” he explained. “With its reputation, the years of experience—there was no doubt. And after meeting David and Nate, I knew this would be a good home for my horse. I am looking for a guide and a partner. There are many people who can take care of my horses, but not many who can guide me in all aspects of the business … the timing of showing the horses, which event is the right one … and, of course, also train the horse at the highest level. With that, I am certainly looking for some titles in the future!” The whole U.S. Nationals experience was memorable for Golan Tzuberi. “Being fairly new to the world of Arabian horses, I was very impressed with the level at which the whole thing was organized,” he recalled. “The guys from Midwest set up the backstage in an amazingly professional way. Of course, when Triumph was introduced for the first time, I got chills … literally. To see David Boggs showing Triumph was a moving experience for me.”

Todd & Glena Weegens “From our first purchase until now, our entire involvement with the Arabian horse has been with Midwest,” says Todd Weegens. “The knowledge about the breed that is shared by David and the entire team has been invaluable, and the loving care provided to our horses is very important to us.” Janey Morse introduced Todd and Glena to Arabians nearly ten years ago. Their friendship flourished and led to them meeting David Boggs and joining the Midwest family. They value the friends that they have made through Team Midwest and the excitement of cheering for their own or other client’s horses has provided them with lasting memories that they continue to treasure. Glena recalls her favorite Nationals moment with pride. “I was standing in-between Beni TG and Grazia TG,” she said. “Beni had won the National Championship and Grazia was Reserve. CF Mamie’s Night Out: THE SABLE MATRIARCH WHO FOUNDED AN EVER GROWING VILLAGE OF HUMAN FANS AND HALF-ARABIAN SUPERSTARS by CATHERINE COLE FERANDELLI
Small breeder and owner Melissa Subjeck’s viewpoint is vigorously succinct, “Every breeder dreams of breeding a national champion. Despite the twists and turns along the way, CF Mamie’s Night Out (“Night”) made that dream come true for me. Of course, it takes a village, and my village happens to be Night and Team Midwest.” Melissa continues, “I guess our story is how Night and I found one another, stayed together and ultimately changed my life.” A horse lover since childhood (she and her sister started with pony rides at camp), Melissa grew up in the show pen, starting with 4-H and “A” rated shows, to regional competitions and on to a couple reserve national championships, mostly in Amateur Hunter Pleasure. While starting college, Melissa’s parents moved to Elma, NY (upstate), and built a beautiful horse property including barn and arena. “This was an incredibly generous gesture, as my parents are not horse people,” maintains Melissa. As the farm developed and Melissa’s academic ambitions grew to law school, she realized the need to ‘get serious’ about her legal career. Facing a demanding legal career with Buffalo’s largest law firm, Melissa decided to sell her show string and acquire one nice mare for breeding. “I figured my career would be established when the babies were old enough to show.” Melissa continues, “My parents and I purchased a very nice Saddlebred mare in 2006. While researching this mare’s offspring, I came across Amy Glick’s Zamira Arabians web-page. Scrolling Amy’s website revealed a stunning black Saddlebred mare, CF Mamie’s Night Out. Of course, I wanted her, but we had already purchased the other mare. For weeks afterward, I would wander back to see if she was still available. I finally called Amy, cleaned out my bank account (I didn’t dare tell my parents!) and bought Night.” Night’s and Melissa’s first breeding venture together was with DA Valentino. Melissa recollects, “At the time, DA Valentino was beginning his entry into the history books. I thought he was perfect for Night, but he seemed a world away. I mentioned my plan to Amy Glick who kindly made my introduction to David Boggs and Team Midwest. We bred that spring and in 2009 an elegant ebony filly was born at Edwin and Corky Sutton’s.” Edwin took a look at the filly and stated, “I don’t say this often, but this filly is going to wear roses; mark my words, she

will.” Perfectly named Ebony by Valentino (“Ebony”), she was the first offspring of Night’s and Melissa’s village of future superstars. Ebony quickly drew more fans. Jim Stachowski states, “I took one look and said, send that one to David.” Brian Murch shares, “I too, recommended Melissa send Ebony to David, and later, Remember The Nyte RMA (“Henry,” named after my gramps), a 2013 chestnut Vitorio TO gelding, and Endless Summer Nyte (“Eve”), a 2015 Baahir El Marwan grey filly, to Midwest as well.” Ebony won her first regional in the Half-Arabian Yearling Filly class at Region 14. And then Melissa received the call … David had a buyer for Ebony. Melissa struggled, “The decision was tough, but at the time, I was traveling frequently for work and I didn’t think I could give Ebony the spotlight she deserved. David promised that, as her breeder, I would stay involved. Gemini Arabians acquired Ebony and she went on to win multiple championships at Scottsdale, Iowa, NSH Finals and U.S. Nationals. David kept his promise, sending photos and emails of Ebony with the subject line Go Team! It felt bittersweet.” Still balancing career, a barn and show horses, Melissa decided to sell Night to a ‘real’ breeding facility. Arrangements were made with Night to be sold in foal to DA Valentino. And then, tragically, he was gone.
Ebony By Valentino (DA Valentino x Mammies Nite Out)
Melissa looks back, “We tried frozen semen, but Night wouldn’t take. We then bred to Vitorio TO and as luck would have it, Night slipped. I brought her back to our farm and bred back to Vitorio the following spring, with Remember The Nyte RMA, our chestnut gelding, arriving in early 2013.” Melissa continues, “Same as Ebony in 2010, we sent him to Midwest in 2014 as a yearling for an evaluation, but this time we were not selling. Our whole family was at Tulsa later that year to cheer when he won U.S. National Champion Half-Arabian Yearling Gelding—I finally got my first set of red roses!” U.S. Nationals 2015, too, was a big year for the midnight colored matriarch, CF Mamies’ Night Out. Remember The Nyte RMA was Reserve National Champion Half-Arabian 2-Year-Old Gelding and Ebony by Valentino won the in-hand Saddle/Pleasure Half-Arabian Mare class. Night also, made her big debut as a “grandma,” with Ebony’s yearling filly Davincis Ebony GA, named National Champion Half-Arabian Yearling Filly and her three year old filly earning National Champion Half-Arabian Stock/Hunter Mare AAOTH. Melissa smiles with pride, “With those wins, I was ranked second place in number for breeders in my category at U.S. Nationals. All this with my one mare, CF Mamie’s Night Out!”
www.midwestarabian.com Midwest | 103 | Ar abian Horse Times
2016 has been a standout year too. Melissa’s debut with Remember The Nyte RMA resulted in championships at Scottsdale and Region 7. “I cannot tell you how good it felt,” Melissa shares, “to finally be at my horses’ lead!” Henry was also unanimous in his open class with Alcides Rodrigues. Though Ebony didn’t show at 2016 Scottsdale, she still earned the honor of Arabian Horse Times Readers’ Choice HalfArabian Halter Horse of the Year for the third time. Now owned by Stella Bella Arabians, Ebony was 2016 Youth National Champion Half-Arabian Mare Saddle/Pleasure JTR with Sara Bassichis. Today as a partner in a busy law firm, Melissa looks to her Night-created village for camaraderie, competition and fun, “U.S. Nationals 2016 will see me at the lead

with Night’s son, three year old Remember The Nyte RMA and her grey yearling filly, Endless Summer Nyte. Never could I have imagined that this now 22 year old mare would bring such joy and passion into my life. Every decision in the building of Night’s village was made with the kind tutelage of top notch individuals. I will be forever grateful to so many folks, including David Boggs, Alcides Rodrigues,

Amy Glick, Maureen Quillin, Edwin and Corky Sutton, Brian Murch, our vet Dr. Kim Anderson, and most of all, my incredibly supportive parents. Yes, I attest to this, one can be a small breeder in the wonderful world of Arabian horse breeding and build their own village of success.”
