COMMENTS from the publisher WEATHERING THE STORM TOGETHER At the moment I write this—late March—I am as shellshocked as I imagine you are at the swift escalation of the COVID-19 crisis. Just a few short weeks ago, leaving Scottsdale, I wrote a completely different column in anticipation of the year ahead. Let me say here, I still believe that the year will ultimately be a positive one for the Arabian community, but it appears that we have hurdles to clear before we can see that happen. It will be a few weeks before you receive this issue and I hope that by that time, our lives will have returned to normal. But in case that does not happen, let me share the course that I’m following, that’s prepare for the worst but hope for the best. It helps me to remember that we, as Americans, are not in this alone. Almost the entire world is facing this challenge, and that makes it a whole lot easier to keep things in perspective. In the meantime, the one thing I feel confident in speaking about is our horses. As Arabian horse people, we have a secret weapon for sanity: our horses. All my life, loving horses and spending time with them has been a stress reliever, and I know that it’s the same for you. To me, they represent beauty, loyalty, and love, and those are important for a well-lived life, no matter the circumstances of the world around us. That helps me to maintain a positive attitude. So, during this uncertain time in our lives, let’s think about the future and how we can contribute to bigger, brighter days to come. For one thing, let’s recognize that while we will all hate missing any horse shows which are cancelled, this too will pass. They are significant, but in the big picture, they are not critical. They are privileges that many of us enjoy and will have again.

Scottsdale 2020 READING, SHOW TO CONTINUE HIGHLIGHTS SUBSCRIBE ONLINE NOW! DAVID BOGGS https://www.ahtforms.com/subscribe/

2020 Scottsdale Highlight The culmination of the Third Jewel in The Triple Crown for *Perfinka! After winning Las Vegas World Cup Supreme Gold Champion and United States Unanimous National Champion, the Scottsdale Senior Gold Champion Mare win was for me an achievement of great pride and joy! Thank you to all who supported us on our journey. Favorite non-related horse moment The victories and magic surrounding the beautiful filly bred and shown by Dale … I was very happy for them. If I could change one thing … It would be to introduce the horses, owners and breeders while doing a lap to honor all contestants in the Halter Championships before the final results are announced.

50% of all proceeds from AHT Digital Edition subscriptions through the month of April will be donated to the AHDF. LINDA CLARK

2020 Scottsdale Highlight When our stallion Ever More NA unanimously won the Arabian Western Pleasure Stallions. Also watching Rob Bick ride our reiner Dun With Style NA in the celebrity slide. Favorite non-related horse moment Watching Crystal McNutt win the Half-Arabian open reining futurity in a run-off. Very exciting! If I could change one thing … No junior horse classes on Sunday. By the last Sunday, the junior horses have been on the show grounds for 2 ½ weeks. Let them show earlier in the weekend, Friday or Saturday. It would be nice if we had no classes on Sunday afternoon.
