Thank you for everything you've done for me over the years. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be a Multi-National Champion, or have the most amazing horses! I hope we make a lot of great memories together at Youth Nationals, as I ride my last year in 13 & Under. You’re the best trainer ever, and I love you!”

2011 Youth Nationals—
Riding High On A
Of
Expectations by Colleen Scott
2011 Youth NatioNals Preview
nearly two decades old now, the Youth national Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Horse show is nearly upon us. From July 23-30, 2011, thousands of horses and exhibitors will gather in Albuquerque, n.m., to compete in what is likely the culmination of their entire competitive year. For some, there will be tears of joy as they take a victory pass; for others, perhaps tears of disappointment as they realize that the performance they delivered wasn’t the one they had hoped for. but for all, it will be memorable, and for all, it will be a celebration of the bond between horse and rider. Longtime show Commission member and its current chair mickey Hegg describes the Youth nationals as being far more than a show. “it is 10 days of education, competition

and fun for our great riders,” she says. This year’s schedule confirms her sentiments. in addition to the standard fare of classes, this year’s show includes several new opportunities. An exciting addition to this year’s show is reined Cow Horse JTr 17 & Under Limited exhibitions in the Arabian and Half-Arabian divisions. “They would be inclusive of a reining pattern, followed by the release of one

cow into the arena, with the rider ‘boxing’ the cow at the end of the arena,” says Hegg. “They do not take the cow down the rail, nor do they work circles; it would perhaps be compared to a walk/trot or introductory class when approved by the united States equestrian Federation (uSeF). That means on December 1 of this year, which is why it is being run as an exhibition class this year. It is our hope that more youth will become involved in the working western classes of shows, as generally there is quite a lot of interest.” Another new segment of competition is Arabian Sport Horse under Saddle jTR 17 & under, which has been added for both Arabians and Half-Arabians. Also on the agenda, as has been a tradition for the past several years, is the Arabian Professional and Amateur Horseman’s
Association clinic, which this year will feature the 2010 Horseman and Horsewoman Of The Year, Bob Battaglia and Vickey Bowman. Slated from 2-5 p.m., Thursday, july 21, in the Horse Arena, it is always a highlight. This will be followed by the uSeF Saddle Seat experts, talking about the saddle seat team. “All of these events are in addition to the other annual events, such as the stick horse race for the little ones, hippology, resale availability of riding clothes, youth judging and the annual Arabian Youth Association convention,” says Hegg. “All days and times can be found in the Omnibus, which is also available online.” Although she has been involved for many years, Hegg never tires of the Youth nationals, even though it requires a long trip from her home in Ireland. “What keeps me interested year after year is the youth themselves, as I

enjoy working with them,” she says. “secondly, i am a lifelong fan of the Arabian horse—put the two together and it’s a great combination every time. Lastly, i believe that we all need to give back to what we believe in, and i enjoy working with people and making the best show we can make. Working with the other members of the Youth national show Commission has always been a most enjoyable effort for me, and, i hope, for them. We may not always agree, but we work well together and respect each other’s opinions, and try to do what is best for our show. our support staff has always been the best, and we have people coming to do their all-important jobs, and everyone is an expert at what they do. We have the best!”
and to enjoy the camaraderie of their peers. Last year’s youth were such good troopers, and excellent young horsemen and women, as they are every year.”
Hegg notes that there have been a few challenges this year, especially the delay of the omnibus and the eHV-1 outbreak which caused the cancellation of some shows. “We are hoping that our exhibitors will be able to find shows with their necessary classes in order to qualify,” she says. “our main aim is to have a national show where our youth exhibitors can come to compete for the final top honors,
At this writing, entries are still pouring in (due to the extension of the deadline following the eHV-1 outbreak and delayed omnibus), so it is hard to predict how many young Arabian enthusiasts will make the trip to new mexico. but what is certain is that when the show concludes on saturday, July 30, every exhibitor will have a lifetime of memories to take home. VanGo Arabians’ Toni Trego, DVm, who is
Another challenge facing the show Commission is the sponsorship of jackets and belt buckles. “We know that for many, these are not easy times. We have never raised the price of these sponsorships, which are $300, and have worked very diligently with our vendor to keep the price of the awards the same so we can continue to present them to our winners. We are most grateful to our vendors for working with us, and hope we can get the sponsors needed to continue this traditional program.”
Exciting New Cutting Clinic Offered at Youth Nationals membership Chair of the Arabian Cutting Horse Association, wanted to share her love of the discipline with others. on Thursday and Friday, July 28 and 29, she has made arrangements to provide youth riders with the opportunity of a lifetime: riding a finished cutting horse in a clinic setting with multititled trainer John Garland. The horses provided for this event aren’t just any horses, but all champions, with each of them holding an average of four national cutting titles. Participants will do dry work on Thursday

and move on to live cattle Friday. There is a nominal fee of $50. We caught up with Toni and asked a few questions about this new, exciting opportunity. What made you want to organize this event at Youth Nationals? Although i have only been involved in Arabian cutting for a few years, it has been the most fun i have ever had in a lifetime of involvement with horses. i am always looking
2011 Youth NatioNals Preview
What are you hoping to accomplish by putting this together?
As a horse-crazy kid of modest means, I was blessed with many wonderful mentors and
benefactors who helped nurture my interest through involvement in clinics and other
educational activities presented by 4-H and various Arabian horse clubs. As an adult, I
have found my passion and been blessed with for opportunities to promote cutting, and in particular Arabian cutting, to anyone who will listen. Last year, my husband and I hosted two all-breed introductory cutting clinics at our farm with john Garland as the clinician. They were very well received, but I felt that we could get more people ‘hooked’ if they could ride actual finished cutting horses, rather than trying to learn about cutting and cattle work on their trail and pleasure horses. When I decided to try to put together a clinic where we provided people with finished horses to ride, I had several reasons for wanting to hold it at Youth nationals. Obviously, the youth are the future of any sport or discipline, so I wanted a venue with lots of young people. I also wanted to present the sport to a large, diverse audience that might not otherwise have the opportunity to watch or participate in cutting. Finally, because I was hoping to use some of the best competitive horses in the industry, I wanted to hold the clinic at a time and place that would not interfere with these horses’ show schedules. Youth nationals presented the obvious best fit for all these criteria. I am very grateful to all of the other horse owners and trainers who are sharing their great horses and time to make this clinic a reality. I also owe a debt of gratitude to Mickey Hegg and the Youth nationals Show Commission for accepting my clinic proposal.
more success than I dared dream through
my involvement in Arabian cutting. not only is
the sport exciting and challenging, but it is filled
with some of the nicest, most helpful horse people I have ever met. I feel compelled to share what I
think is the “best-kept secret” in our industry: that Arabians are great cutting horses and that cutting is a rewarding and challenging sport that can be enjoyed by horse lovers of any age.
Any other thoughts about the interest of youth in the working western divisions?
I think that horsemen and women of all ages
are drawn to the working western divisions for obvious reasons. In all of our working western disciplines, horses are shown individually and scored objectively, giving the impression of
a more level playing field than that of other
disciplines. Adding cattle to the mix is a great
equalizer, making every competition anybody’s to win or lose. Young people are very active in these types of events outside of the Arabian breed. It
is up to us to show our youth that Arabians are suitable working western mounts.

My last year as a youth has finally arrived, and I would never be where I am today without the love, guidance, and support of so many great people. My parents have been with me every step of the way; not only have they financed my endeavors, but they have encouraged me to push myself and to gain as much as I can from this experience. I have had the privilege of working with many amazing trainers over the years, including Rick Nab, Lori Ross, Ryan Strand, and Jason Krohn. They have all played a part in shaping me as a rider and have helped me to achieve great success. I owe many thanks to Carole Stohlmann, who has put the ‘finishing touches’ on my riding and has made me realize my full potential. Lastly, I would like to thank Kelly Mathews, my trainer. Without her, none of this would ever have been possible. I owe my achievements and the happiness that has come with them to all of you. Thank you so much for making this such a valuable and memorable experience.

2011 Youth NatioNals Judges This year’s Youth nationals judges carry the monumental honor of adjudicating what is the highlight of the year for our youth riders. The panels are Martha Murdock, john Rannenberg and Richard Wright for english/Saddle Seat; Kelly Alcorn, jeff Lee and Deb Witty for Western/ Reining and Trail; jeremy Harper, janet Henderson and Kevin jochens for Hunter Pleasure/Show Hack and Showmanship; Archibald Cox, Dale Pederson and Kristen Freeman Lowry for Hunt Seat/Working Hunter; and joan Darnell and Charlotte Trentelman for Dressage. We caught up with some of them between shows and asked a few questions.
Is this the first time you are judging Youth Nationals? If so, what are you most looking forward to? If not, what is your favorite thing about this show? Kelly Alcorn: This is my third time judging Youth nationals. As always, it’s the kids, the smiles, the tears, and the growth in each and every exhibitor there. Joan Darnell: Yes, this is the first time I will be judging the Arabian Youth nationals. I’m looking forward to seeing some great rides with correct training. Janet Henderson: Yes, this is the first time I will be judging Youth nationals. I am looking forward to seeing high caliber young riders on their great horses. Kevin Jochens: This is not my first time judging Youth nationals. It is always a joy. What I am most pleased about is the camaraderie of the kids. They compete against each other and yet root for each other. It’s refreshing. Jeff Lee: I have judged Youth nationals before. I like to watch their enthusiasm and their energy. I also like to see them make their trainers crazy. Martha Murdock: I have judged Youth nationals before. I look forward to judging Saddle Seat equitation because at the highest level of competition our riders begin to shine even as early as the walk/trot age group. For example, I judged a walk/trot national Champion who went on to
become a rider on the Gold Medal World Cup Team uSA. It was very rewarding to see this rider with riders from all breeds representing a discipline on the world stage and remembering how her talent was so easy to recognize when judging her in her first national Championship class. John Ranneberg: This is my first time judging Youth nationals. However, I have attended many times over the years as a coach. I always look forward to seeing the outstanding horses and the very high level of horsemanship and determination. Charlotte Trentelman: This is my first time judging Youth nationals. I’m looking forward to the energy and dedication shown by the riders and their support teams (families and trainers) that kept them focused on qualifying and arriving at the show. I expect all to be serious competitors—but also have fun. Deb Witty: Yes, this is my first time judging Youth nationals. I’m looking forward to working with the other two judges on my panel, jeff Lee and Kelly Alcorn.
How can we encourage our youth riders to continue as adult riders? Joan Darnell: Youth riders need to have correct training and be mounted on safe horses with which they can be successful. Success breeds confidence, and confident riders enjoy the sport and hopefully will continue to train and compete as they become adults. Janet Henderson: I think our shows and our association can continue to emphasize a sense of camaraderie and inclusion to encourage continued participation. Kevin Jochens: In most cases there is going to be a natural “gap” at some point. Leaving high school and entering college or the work force is going to cause a natural increase in social and financial pressures that wasn’t present before. I think the key is keeping the interest alive, and with the generation we are talking about, that means social media. Maintaining a feeling of engagement with the breed and sport through social media is vital to their re-entering the industry when the pressure mentioned before alleviates. If they “drop off ” and form other interests, we have lost them, probably for good.

2011 Youth NatioNals Judges Jeff Lee: i think we can encourage the youth by building their confidence and helping them have fun. Hopefully, they will want to continue. Martha Murdock: i think that this question is an universal one that covers not only youth but all exhibitors in our breed. For way too long we have put the emphasis on qualifications or earning points to get to the next level. The results of this are that shows are held with little to offer but class after class with little or no competition. There is no time to talk to people or even enjoy time with customers if you are a trainer. The horse shows are not fun. You can add this to not being able to tell an exhibitor when they are going to be showing, because you really have no idea how many classes will be canceled that day. The most difficult situation for me to explain is when you have a horse or rider that really wants to go to the horse show and go up the levels and your ability to take them there depends on how many entries show up in a class. You see, even if they win, it may not be enough points to get them where they want to go by the deadline. Why are we making it more difficult to show our horses when we need to make it easier? showing Arabians should be for the fun of it, and exhibitors need to feel that they can’t wait to go to the next one and spend time with their horses and friends, not that they have to go to get qualified for anything. next, as judges we have to take the class descriptions and follow them as they are written. We have them on the top of every judge’s card that we are handed before every class. For too many years this has been ignored, and if a horse wins in one division he just keeps on winning. some horses can be top open horses and top amateur horses in the same year, but many can’t and by class description should not be winning. Just as some country english pleasure horses can do a good job as a show hack horse, but many simply change tack and because they are great horses they are winning, but not by the rules we are supposed to be judging by. it is not just pick the best horse that gets around the ring with the fewest mistakes no matter how much we love the horse. The horse has to perform according to the class description to win the class. exhibitors need to understand the concept of quality, manners, performance, conformation, substance, suitability and how these apply to the classes they enter.
78 • Youth | A r A bi A n Hor se T i mes
John Rannenberg: i find it hard to believe that these young riders and handlers would not continue on as adults in some capacity. These kids live and breathe horses and have been doing so since they were just old enough to get on. Competing at this level requires such a huge commitment and dedication to perfecting your craft. What a great life lesson to learn at such a young age! Charlotte Trentelman: There is usually a time when young riders have to go to college, start careers and families, and become adults. A percentage will come back when, years later, they have time to commit to themselves again. i believe it is the bond between the young rider and the horse that brings them back. The closer they are involved in the day-to-day life of the horse as young people, the greater the chance is that they will want to return. Deb Witty: i feel that we can make the youth experience the best possible so that showing becomes a passion that they want to carry into adulthood. it should be more than just about the ribbons, it should be about the whole experience.
At the most recent show you judged, was there anything that stood out in your mind as being particularly good? Kelly Alcorn: What stands out at most of the shows i judge is the “try” and “heart” in the exhibitors and their horses. Joan Darnell: The last show i judged was the region 11 Championships in springfield, ill. i was very impressed with the quality of the horses. They were very much a sport horse type, and most of them were accepting the contact appropriate for their level of training. Janet Henderson: i have had the pleasure most recently, of seeing quality training and happy horses in the hunter pleasure, country english pleasure and the sport horse divisions. Kevin Jochens: When i judge, i always marvel at the dedication of the trainers and exhibitors. Different horses and riders are going to rise to different levels
2011 Youth NatioNals Judges of achievement depending on natural ability, but the dedication to the craft of horsemanship can be constant, and seeing it carrying through makes me feel good about the future of horse sports. Jeff Lee: The last show I judged was in Santa Barbara. I noticed a lot of older people showing in amateur classes. The trail classes I judged out there were very good. Martha Murdock: I judged a show recently that had a large number of new riders and horses. These exhibitors were new to the show ring and were riding with various training barns, and some were on their own. They were all select riders and even though they were from different barns you could see that they were enjoying and supporting each other. These riders were all properly mounted with horses that suited their ability, and they loved being in the horse show. It was such a thrill to have exhibitors appreciate our efforts while judging them. When we walked the line, they had big smiles on their faces because they were happy to be there. The trainers and friends who got them there did a great job matching the riders with their horses and keeping them safe. The select division is a great concept and one that needs to continue to be used wisely for the level of horse and rider. It should be a place for our most seasoned veterans to find homes. John Rannenberg: I had the privilege of judging the Ohio Buckeye. It was refreshing to see that although it is a really tough time for our country and economy, there is still a great desire to show beautiful and talented Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. Charlotte Trentelman: At the most recent show I judged (recognized dressage), I was struck by the number of different breeds and crosses shown and the increase of amateurs and juniors competing with them. At times, we are stuck in a rut with one breed, or one line of a breed, forgetting that dressage can be done well by all, if trained correctly. Suitability is an important factor that we sometimes forget. Deb Witty: Recently, I judged the Pre-Show at Region 7 and was very impressed with the youth reining horses.
Reining seat equitation has come a long way, and I am looking forward to judging it in july.
Is there something you think the youth riders are better at than their adult counterparts? Kelly Alcorn: Making their own fun is something we adults seem to lose as we age. Joan Darnell: Youth riders usually are very enthusiastic riders, and most are very determined to be successful. Janet Henderson: I think our Arabian youth have the benefit of some wonderful trainers. So, if they are better at anything, it is a result of that good training. Kevin Jochens: I sometimes think that the youth riders are better than the adults at rooting for each other even while they are competing against each other. This is an area in which they can teach the adults something. Jeff Lee: The youth riders have no fear. As we get older, we start getting afraid. Martha Murdock: Hopefully, they will all be good students and know and understand the rules. John Rannenberg: Probably relaxing. Seems like the older we get, the more stress we put on ourselves. Charlotte Trentelman: Young riders are more forward thinking in their riding. They don’t hold back as much. They also don’t seem as rattled by outside disturbances as much. Deb Witty: I think that younger riders have the advantage over adults, purely from a standpoint of “lack of inhibitions.” They have no fear, they are not paying the bills, and they do not worry about the future nearly as much as adults. Adults let “baggage” get in their way sometimes, and they take this way too seriously. Kids seem to be more relaxed. Adults tend to forget that this is just a horse show, not a summit to negotiate world peace, and that there will be another one next week …

2011 Youth NatioNals Judges
What do you hope our youth riders take away from this show? Kelly Alcorn: i hope all the exhibitors leave this national show with some emotional growth and their love of the horse intact. Joan Darnell: i hope the riders will have successful rides and if not, that by my comments on the tests, they will be able to gain a little piece of advice that will improve their rides for the next show. Janet Henderson: i am a coach, clinician and a competitor, so i understand what it is like to “put yourself out there.” Put your best effort forward and take pride in your best moments. Kevin Jochens: i would hope our youth riders will take away a sense of pride in their efforts, whether or not those efforts are rewarded at the show. The rewards may be down the road for some of them, but there will be rewards for them in life for having competed. Jeff Lee: Have the knowledge that you tried your best and were fair to your horse. if you do that, then you are a winner. Martha Murdock: i hope the winners understand how lucky they are to have the horses that got them there and the adults that supported them. Also, i hope that those who don’t win understand how lucky they are to have a Youth nationals to show in at all. They should know that many of us that make a living training horses didn’t win our first Top Tens until we were in our 20s because we didn’t have a Youth nationals. my first nationals was in 1973, and the only youth classes were saddle seat and stock seat. The youth of today have a lot to be thankful for, and i would be curious to know how many people remember who won those two classes in 1973? That should put some perspective on winning and losing, because it is the ride that people remember, not the roses.

John Rannenberg: regardless of the outcome at the show, recognize the fact that just getting to Youth nationals to compete is huge. be a good sport. Tell someone you don’t know who just won, Congratulations! it will make their day, and you will feel good too. remember to treat your horse with respect and kindness and be aware of its needs. Charlotte Trentelman: super memories of a great time! Deb Witty: i hope that riders come away with a feeling of accomplishment. riding at nationals is a big deal in itself. being there and having fun and doing your best is what it is all about.
There are a lot of big classes with high quality horses and talented riders at Youth Nationals. What helps set the champions apart for you? Kelly Alcorn: it’s all in the details. neat, clean, safe, and presented with confidence. Janet Henderson: i want to see harmony between horse and rider. The homework has been done, and the polish has been added. Kevin Jochens: The things that set the champions apart are frequently minute and subtle. i was asked after judging my first national level show, “Wasn’t it hard with so many great horses?” i replied, “no, that’s what made it easy.” There was so much from which to choose, i could usually pick exactly what i wanted and not “settle.” That fact that the differences are so small is also why judges will almost never judge exactly alike. it’s why we must respect each other and our efforts and opinions. on any given day there may be several horses in the ring that could win. each of us sees something different in each horse. Defining those qualities … honing them and presenting them at just the right moment is what makes a champion. That’s what makes a show like this so exciting. Great horses and great riders … all searching for their “moment.” i can’t wait to judge it, and i hope i am in center ring when those moments come to pass.
2011 Youth NatioNals Judges
Jeff Lee: Confidence really stands out to me in the ring. That comes from doing the homework before you get there.
Janet Henderson: Breathe! everyone coming through the in-gate has a nagging issue; so, the best advice is to keep riding, keep smiling, and remember to breathe!
Martha Murdock: It is important to keep in mind that there will be three of us making the choices about who will be champion. In the two show rings that we will be judging in, we will at times be controlling the ring by calling the classes and there will be other times when we see these horses from a different perspective. Horses will look different from ring to ring and from the judge’s position in the ring. Horses look different going different directions of the ring and on or off the rail depending on the horse. The riders who do their homework and know where in these rings their horse looks best at each gait will have an advantage because each of us will have a different view at different times during the classes. The line-up is also important and how an exhibitor lines up counts as well. The line-up is not a rest period. It is the place to judge conformation and quality. If the horses are asked to back, they must back correctly. Riders who understand that there are three of us judging and show their horses accordingly will have an advantage. Know the horse and study the arena so you can use it to your advantage throughout the entire show.
Kevin Jochens: I would tell every exhibitor to have fun. enjoy the ride, and if you win, whatever it might be, green ribbon, pink ribbon, Top Ten, Reserve or Champion, appreciate it. As you are taking that last pass out the gate, be mentally “there.” Remember it always. nothing is promised us in life, and this experience may never come your way again. Jeff Lee: Have fun. Try not to get too nervous. just relax and do your best. Martha Murdock: We owe it to our youth to teach them a better way to look at our sport when it comes to the judges, and they will return to the ring as adults who have respect for what we are all trying to do … enjoy the Arabian horse.
John Rannenberg: Perfect harmony.
John Rannenberg: To remember to take a moment and reflect and think how fortunate you are to be doing something you love. never take these opportunities you have been given for granted and be appreciative to your parents, grandparents, or whoever helped you get there. What a gift! You are lucky!
Deb Witty: What sets a national champion apart for me can differ for each class. Sometimes it will be a great performance; sometimes it will reflect a gifted horse or rider that shines on that particular day. One thing that I have learned from showing on a national level is that everyone can be a champion on a given day, and every great horse and rider can have an “off day.” That is what keeps us coming back year after year.
Charlotte Trentelman: Don’t be afraid of judges! They really want you to succeed. In order to be a recognized uSeF judge we have had lots of show experience, and we all had “first shows.” There is probably nothing that can happen in the ring that the judge hasn’t at least seen before (or probably done themselves). If we are not smiling 100% of the time, perhaps it’s because we are concentrating on our jobs ... not because we don’t like what we see.
If you could share one piece of advice with every exhibitor, what would it be?
Deb Witty: My advice would be “do your best” and that is all you can do. every show has a different outcome, and the best way to enjoy the experience is to set personal goals and do your best. Win or lose, you can feel proud of your achievements if you try hard. n
Joan Darnell: Preparation is the key to performing the movements with precision and accuracy.

A Heartfelt Thanks to:
Mom and Dad, Thank you so much for everything. You have been the most generous and supportive parents ever. In everything that I have pursued you two have been behind me one hundred percent. You never miss a concert, track meet, or horse show, yet you are the most busy people I know. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful parents. Lori, A big thanks to you for putting the finishing touches to my riding. You are much more than a coach to me; you are a great friend. I definitely plan to keep using your coaching into my 18-39 years. Eq for life! Deb, I can't even begin to thank you enough. These past few years have been the most amazing and rewarding years of my life. None of that would have been possible without all of the time and effort you so graciously invested in me. What began a short two years ago as a hobby, has become my passion and you are a big reason for that. My dream is to someday ride with the grace and "feel" that you do. Not only have you taught me how to ride, but you have taught me invaluable life lessons. You are a true teacher, horseman, and most of all, friend. I'm already excited to start the next chapter of my horse career after this year!

Wow! I cannot believe how fast the last six years have gone by! This Youth Nationals is definitely bittersweet for me; this being my last year. I am very blessed to own the horses I am showing this year—RH Gladiator /, Fabulaire, SC Don Julio and Goldmein LOA. I would not have had the opportunity to ride these wonderful horses that are performing to their fullest potential without the help of my trainers! I would like to thank all my trainers starting with Rick Nab. You have been on this journey with me from the very beginning and I am very lucky to have had your assistance the last six years. Next, Jim and Peter Stachowski, and Sharon Blendinger of the Stachowski team—you have been fantastic! Sharon has done a phenomenal job with Fabulaire and Peter with Gladiator. Thank you to my western trainers, Jody and Larry Hoffman of Hesten Park. You have improved my riding and helped with my confidence in the show ring. Lastly, Terry Holmes, for doing a great job with Gold Mein in halter. The biggest thanks of all goes to my grandparents—without you, none of the last six years would have been possible! Thank you!
~ Jacque Additional thanks to Mary Campbell and Ron Hunter of Mary Campbell Training Center, Bob Battaglia, Russ Vento Jr. and Jeff Lovejoy of Battaglia Farms, and Ellen Beard for all of her help fine tuning my riding.

You will never see any other horse do anything quite like the Arabian. They can do everything with style. The most embarrassing moment I experienced when riding/showing my horse was… at the 2009 Youth nationals i was riding a big, awesome horse. before our first class, as i was getting on, and my pants split almost all the way down the inside. We didn’t have enough time to run back and get duct tape, so i ended up going in the class with a split in my pants. My favorite thing to do in Albuquerque during Youth Nationals is… definitely, showing my horse and hanging out with my friends and people i normally don’t see much. My favorite app/video game is... Angry birds!
