by Amanda Fraser t Royal Arabians it is a firm belief that existence is meant to be spent surrounded by beauty and passion. To the owners and employees of the quaint farm in Mesa, Arizona, there is nothing that embodies this belief more than the beauty, charisma, and charm of the Arabian horse. For more than ten years, Royal Arabians has been operating an elite residence for halter, performance, and breeding horses. Out of the hundreds of horses associated with this influential farm, one young stallion reigns supreme as the “King” of Royal Arabians: Royal Invictus.

our wildest expectations.” — Cindy McGown

When Invictus was born, everyone knew immediately how incredibly special and unique he was. Owner and breeder Cindy McGown says, “It is our goal to improve the sire and dam with each generation. I feel Invictus has a lot to live up to, as his pedigree is so breathtaking. Within hours of his birth, I knew he had certain qualities attributed from his lineage that were extreme and would surpass our wildest expectations.” Cindy’s thoughts were voiced by the staff of Royal Arabians. “The morning he (Invictus) was born, it seemed like the whole farm stopped working to admire him,” says Makenzie Gleave, an employee at Royal Arabians. “We had never seen such a perfect little foal, and he sure knew it!”

ome may say, with his remarkable lineage, Invictus was predestined to become extraordinary. His sire is Italian-bred and world-renowned stallion Ajman Moniscione. Known for extreme type along with marvelous charisma and attitude, Ajman passed his excellence to his successor, Invictus. The other side of Royal Invictus’s pedigree is equally impressive in *San Jose Javiera. Imported from Chile, Javiera had everyone talking when she arrived in 1998. She quickly became a favorite among trainers and breeders. Andy Sellman, internationally respected trainer, breeder, and judge, says of Javiera: “*San Jose Javiera is indeed one of the great females of the Arabian horse world. When she arrived on the American show scene, she was so ahead of her time. She was an exotic mare with extreme type, refinement, and poise. We are all so fortunate that she has given us a son on whom she has stamped her greatness. Royal Invictus, son of *San Jose Javiera and the extreme Ajman Moniscione, is unlike any other stallion available to breed with at the moment. Invictus has a unique pedigree that is a great outcross to so many of the current popular halter horses. Pedigree aside, he is an astonishingly beautiful animal! I am excited to represent his offspring and am sure his contributions to Arabian horse breeding in the near future will be very profound!” Javiera now resides in Canada, living the incredible life of a Rae-Dawn broodmare. Murray and Shirley Popplewell feel honored to have this mare in their barn. They avow: “‘SJ,’ as she is known in the barn, is a National Champion quality show mare; however, her real value lies in her potential in the breeding barn. She has so many strong traits that can “There is no doubt that improve and promote any Royal Invictus will breeding program. Arabians fell in love with this great stallion; he also possesses physical qualities that are outstanding and exclusive. Invictus has a combination of style, substance, balance, and elegance that is hard to come by in the world of “breeding for extremes.” “As a former athlete I admire Invictus for his tenacity,” says Mark Davis, owner and breeder of Royal Invictus. “Watching him work is truly a pleasure; he has a unique ability to make people stare at him while doing the most trivial tasks. I could breed thousands of horses, over the span of my lifetime and never create another Invictus. He truly is a once-in-alifetime horse.” Arabian horse photographer Javan Schaller recalls the first time he captured Invictus on film. “His neck and shoulder were really one for the record books with his amazing length and shape. He was a good size with great movement and was an impressive representation of his pedigree. I have liked this stallion from the first moment he came out.” Everyone who has stood beside him has come to the same realization — Invictus is the real deal. “Royal is the best word to describe him,” declares acclaimed trainer Gary McDonald. “He comes from a royal lineage of kings and queens. One look at his eyes, chiseled features, and bowed neck, and you can see he should be sitting on a throne.” Royal Arabians has been astounded by the response of local breeders to their prized stallion. Although they knew he was special, they also understood that there is a vast market for great stallions trying to make their mark in the history books of Arabian horse bloodlines. The enthusiasm, however, was undeniable. Breeder after breeder and trainer after trainer showed the same type of exhilaration over the future of the impeccably bred and beautifully formed stallion. Internationally successful breeder David Cains states, “Invictus is a combination of incredible beauty, impressive pedigree, and excellent conformation. Stonewall Farm is excited to be using this exciting young colt on our mares.”

When asked about Invictus, renowned trainer Rodolfo Guzzo lights up and replies, “He possesses the best qualities of both Ajman Moniscione and his beautiful dam *San Jose Javiera.” Continuing his description he says, “Invictus reflects the Ajman ‘look,’ type, attitude, and carriage in abundance. Invictus also has the extraordinary beauty, neck, and throat that made *San Jose Javiera such a great show horse. There is no doubt that Royal Invictus will perpetuate his great genetic heritage.”

that are beautiful, well-bred, and have the ability to positively enhance future generations. Jeff Sloan, arguably one of the best marketing strategists and breeders in the Arabian horse industry, recounts his opinion on Invictus’s first foal crop, stating, “His foals possess all the great qualities his pedigree suggests: large eyes, great necks, and an abundance of type. Royal Invictus appears to be an exemplary young sire.” The reviews from the first foal crop were exciting to the staff and ownership of Royal Arabians. Manager and trainer Leo Hansen declares, “Royal Invictus is a very special young sire. Invictus’s first foal crop has just arrived; we are seeing the qualities of his strong dam line in the foals. Correct conformation and the ‘pretty’ are coming through strongly. The

addition of an extraordinary sire, Ajman Moniscione, is just one more bonus. It is an understatement to say I was pleasantly surprised with these foals. They display Invictus’s beautiful face, extreme neck, and show horse attitude. If the foals continue to mature as we envision they will, there will be great things to come with this stallion.” David Boggs says, “Arabian breeders, trainers, and the entire Royal Arabians staff are brilliantly optimistic about the endless potential that is Royal Invictus. There is no doubt he is equipped to create an innovative approach to breeding for excellence and precision. I am very hopeful for the future of the Arabian horse when I see model representatives of the breed like Royal Invictus. With his genetics and phenotype, there is no limit to what this young stallion can do.” You can see quality in his past through lineage. You can escape yourself in the present through the essence of his magnificence. And you can envision how illuminating the future can be through his progenies.
