In the September 1986 issue we ran a feature called “Classic Mares,” written by Mary Jane Parkinson — the stories of four of the top producing mares of the day … between them they had produced 55 foals and 1,151 grandsons and granddaughters. They also had collectively produced 18 offspring who had won ten U.S. and Canadian National Championships, five Reserves, and 20 Top Tens; three of them had progeny who had sired/ produced National winners.
