was twelve. I had read The Black Stallion, and my first Breyer model, a gift from a relative, was the Bedouin set — an Arabian mare, stallion, and foal — but I did not really have any idea what
an actual Arabian horse looked like. I was at the local bookstore, looking through horse magazines, when I found the Arabian Horse World Special Edition. My heart was captured. I carried that magazine around with me for months, reading and re-reading it, until it became ragged and tattered, and my parents finally gave in and got me a monthly subscription! Over a decade and a dozen Arabians later, I still look forward to Arabian Horse World every month.
