If your sense of wanderlust has you craving travel with no plans to jet off anytime soon, we have good news: you don't have to go far to satisfy your longing for a Mediterranean summer. Indigo, the in-house rooftop restaurant at The Merchant House, has unveiled a new menu filled with hearty dishes and thirst-quenching drinks to savour, especially during the summer season. Thus, breaking the unwritten rule that the Mediterranean and Asian cuisine have to be predictable.
The Indigo Terrace offers a wide array of cuisines and excels, particularly in Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. The restaurant is also known for using various fresh herbs sourced directly from The Merchant House's very own terrace garden, including rosemary, lavender, jasmine, and many more. If
you aren't on the edge of your seat yet, Indigo’s Terrace is also located at the best rooftop in town, overlooking the entire city. The terrace features furniture made with famous, replenished, handcrafted fabrics. Guests and visitors can enjoy a fine dining experience on the rooftop terrace, with a menu reflecting the restaurant's desire to keep creating new and unique dishes.
A forthcoming breakfast menu includes Newby Tea alongside options like fluffy pancakes and French toast with eggs of your choice, a basket of bread and pastries with cultured butter and homemade jam, and homespun oatmeal with seasonal fruit compote.
The array of dishes starting with sumptuous summer salads, Beef Rib Ssamjang, and fresh sushi rolls, should make anyone forget about the country's long hot summer for at least a short while. Then, for lunch and dinner, kick off with the signature 18 Hour Lamb Shank, inspired by the Mediterranean braised lamb shank topped with herb polenta, sundried cherry, and balsamic is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.
End it all with some magical dessert, especially Katmer, another delicious dessert native to the Gaziantep city of Turkey. It is a crisp filo pastry dessert that contains fresh, crushed pistachios and clotted vanilla ice cream. Comfort and style all in one plate. Bon appetit!
"If you have great ingredients, you don't need much else," Justin Kim says, General Manager of The Merchant House, "We just need to showcase the taste, flavour, and brightness of the food."
With expansive wine and liquor menus alongside smoothies and cocktails, there's not a lot you can't drink here. The daytime cocktail menu is lighter and fruitier than the evening's more potent offerings, but all of them incorporate creative house infusions like chamomile strawberry and saffron honey orange. n
