33RD EGYPTIAN EVENT SPOTLIGHTS BEAUTIFUL ARABIANS AND PEOPLE The 2013 annual Egyptian Event was cooler than usual but though there were clouds and a bit of rain, there were also fabulous Egyptian Arabian horses, owners and visitors from all over the world. During the first week in June, several hundred of the world’s finest Egyptian-sired and Straight Egyptian Arabians gather at Kentucky Horse Park to
vie with top competition globally. 2013 Gold Champion Filly was Jamillas Belle RCA (Pimlico RCA x Desperados Belle RCA) shown by Greg Knowles for Melonie and Michael Behan. Michael Wilson handled the Gold Champion Colt, AJ Thee Luca (Thee Desperado x HED Caramba) for Manuel Durini of Ecuador, while Ted Carson led the
Gold Champion Mare, TF Exotikah (Botswana), owned by Nebeel Ali A and Aldana Al Meslemani. Gold Champion Stallion, Monther Al Nasser (Ansata Hejazi x Aliah Al Nasser), is owned by Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani and shown by Greg Gallun, who also handled the 2012 Egyptian Event Gold Champion Stallion. Jason Tackett showed Amer Nihaal (Justynn) to Champion and winnings of over $17,000 in the EBC Fillies ATH for Ahmad Amer, while David Reissig led Lalo RCA (Thee Desperado) to the big win in the EBC Colts for owner Rock Creek Arabians. The Halter Mare Championship ATH title went to Masri Nijmi with young Kenny McDonald both the owner and the handler. Kenny showed last year’s winner in this class as well. Stallion Championship ATH winner was Patriot LSA, owned by Lone Star Arabians, LLC and shown by Kimberly Shutts. Show Champion Gelding was the multi-Champion Talaria Farms bred TF Prince De Beers (Botswana x SS Queen Ofhearts), owned by Mark Norcross and Neal Schott and shown by Ted Carson. The Friday Night Gala and Art Auction was entitled: MARES, Queens of the Nile. The EBC Stallion Auction and dinner, the appearance of Polly Knoll, signing and selling her horse photography book, the interesting Seminars, and a special performance by Sylvia Zerbini’s daughter, Ambra, helped make the 2013 Egyptian Event a wonderful show.
