The 9th year in Tulsa was also the 50th Anniversary of the official Arabian U.S. National Championship show. The weather this year was spectacular, revisiting summer for most of the show’s 9 days. For the second consecutive year Michael Byatt led the Senior Champion Halter Stallion. This year it was Marajj (Marwan Al Shaqab). Michael Byatt also handled the Junior Halter Mare Champion, Mozn Al Bidayer (S.M.A. Magic One) and the unanimous Futurity Champion Colt, Turismo RA, whose sire, Trussardi, won this title in 2012. Senior Champion Mare was MD Hibat Allah (DA Valentino) with David Boggs, who also led Conquest BR
(Versace), Jr Champion Halter Stallion. Champion Yearling Filly was Pink Rose SRA (Baahir El Marwan), led by Alcides Rodriques. Shown by Ted Carson, the Champion Yearling Colt was Na-Mous Al Shahania (Fa El Shawan). Pitonisa AS (Ever After NA) was unanimous Champion Futurity Filly with Sandro Pinha. In performance, there was exceptional competition. Joel Kiesner, always “the guy to beat”, teamed SA Gisele to win the Country English Pleasure; Nutorious, to take the HA Country English Futurity; Saxton DGL, to win the English Pleasure Jr Horses; Emperors Fire, to wear roses in the HA English, and Heirs Noble Love to win the open English Pleasure (the last four all unanimously). Jim Stachowski, always a top English competitor, won the $100,000 AEPA Futurity with Movin On Heir, while Jessica Clinton won the HA $50,000 AEPA Futurity unanimously with Girl On Fire (this team won the HA English Futurity here last year). Young Dalton Budd had a heckuva show, winning the HA English Futurity with Helluva Storm LR unanimously, and the Country English Futurity with Vegaz Showstopper. Defying Gravity RGS and John Ryan added U.S. Park Champion roses to their extensive collection. Joel Gangi rode Titleist BF to win the Country English Jr Horse, and Sal Mineo BF to win the HA Country English Pleasure (unanimously). Josh Quintas took roses in the Western Pleasure open with Diesel Smoke CBA, in the Jr Horse with Bentley SF and in the HA Western Futurity with Cello Shots SS. Stan White III teamed Jeepers Kreepers to win the HA Western Pleasure, while Joe Reser won the HA Jr Horse with Alittle Beer Money, and the exciting AWPA $100,000 Western Pleasure Futurity with PA Tantara Always. PA Mayhem and Caralyn Schroder won the Hunter Pleasure open unanimously, while Wendy Potts won the HA Hunter Pleasure open with EC Cause To Celebrate and the Futurity with Cimarron Mounlight. Chad Judy took home roses in the open Show Hack with Glitterati. Great performances made the 50th U.S. National Championship show an unforgettable event.
