It was a lovely 25th Anniversary show for the Youth National Championships. Those 25 years have certainly gone by in a blurr. It was blistering hot again this year, though the final few days of the show were cooler; almost balmy. There were twice as many fans and Swamp coolers . . . they lined every aisle and ran in every stall. There was a “run” on portable air conditioners too! Moments to remember? We only have room here to mention a few . . . Hope Krichke’s wins in Halter with the beautiful C Est La V. Rex White,Nora Shaffer and Elaina Roeder racking up multiple rose blanket wins in the English divisions. Holland Stevens taking the roses in English JTR on DA Heatstroke one final, fabulous time. Sarah Porter’s beautiful turn on Caliente Virtuoso+// in the JOTR 14-18. Trent Powell following in his brother’s boot steps and winning the Reining JT 14-18 on My Majec Moment. This time it was Ellawynn Kiesner’s year to shine and show the way in the Walk/Trot classes, taking at least five rose blankets back home. Mackenzie Antle outdid even her own remarkable record, winning at least nine championships in Sport Horse and Dressage. Cole Reser, Avery Reed, Elizabeth Hamlin, and McKenna Bein were everywhere in the Working Western and in Pleasure. Some great competitors switched saddles, hats and harness and won across the board! And special horses like The Real Slim Shady took multiple riders to memorable rides throughout the show. Many young people took home a first rose blanket this year. There were two dozen other talented riders we haven’t mentioned

Youth National Championship symbols of winning excellence

. . . all with some great stories of hard work, sacrifice and terrific rides Congratulations and much applause to each and every one of you! We know your parents, sisters, brothers and friends are very proud of you. The Ice Cream Socials, Dog Races and fun was simply non-stop for nine days, but finally the 25th Anniversary Youth National Championship Show came to a close on a sizzling Oklahoma Saturday night. Soft breezes and stars peaking through clouds witnessed the cheers, laughter and tears of young horsemen and women. There were sighs for those who won’t return next year as competitors and excited anticipation among the youngsters, the newcomers and the returning veterans, all of them looking forward to another July of lights, music, roses and show horses at the 2018 Arabian Youth National Championships, next year celebrating its 26th anniversary in Oklahoma City!
