The Youth National Championship is a sassy 24-years-young its first year back in Oklahoma City. Nobody seemed to be MIA as over 800 Arabian and Half-Arabian horses filled the OKC Fairgrounds for ten terrific days. They all enjoyed the convenience of the facility, the beauty of the main arena and shared some sighs and groans about the heat (up as high as 106* on a few choice days) and the spa-like humidity. Swamp coolers and fans were everywhere ... in every barn. Moments to remember? We only have room here to mention a few . . . Anna Redmond and Isabella Templeton riding for the top spot in the Country Elite on Saturday night. Sarah Esqueda taking her final year to heart and winning in everything from Halter to Hunter. Holland Stevens on DA Heatstroke in the English and Tory Wikel winning the Western Pleasure. Zachary White’s roses in the UPHA JT 14-17 with a brilliant ride on SA The Gambler. Valentina Perricone winning multiple unanimous rose blankets in Walk/Trot classes. Braden Antle winning trophies and following his sister Mackenzie’s incredible showring example. Mckenna Streed, Amanda Burns, Wyatt Potts and Madison Rose in Working Western. There were special rides by Karli Kelley, Raven Gropp, Ariane Martinelli and Devon Thomas. Some great competitors switched saddles and hats and won across the board! And special horses like Karamat and The Real Slim Shady took multiple riders to memorable rides throughout the show. Many young people took home a first rose blanket this year. There were a dozen other talented riders we haven’t mentioned with
Howdeee ... OKC Thanks for the Sizzling good time!
some great stories of hard work, sacrifice and terrific rides Congratulations and much applause to each and every one of you! We know your parents, sisters, brothers and friends are very proud of you. The Parade of Regions drove for the Gold this year in OKC and it was a fabulous event ... the first 21st century Youth National Championship Show in OKC finally came to its close on a sizzling Oklahoma Saturday night. Soft breezes and stars peaking through clouds welcomed the cheers, laughter and tears of young horsemen and women. There were sighs for those who won’t return next year as competitors, and excited anticipation for the youngsters, the newcomers and the returning veterans, looking forward to a brand new era of lights, music and roses at the 2017 Arabian Youth National Championships, next year celebrating its 25th anniversary in Oklahoma City!
