57TH CANADIAN NATIONALS HAS 4TH YEAR IN BRANDON The Canadian Arabian National Championships celebrated its 57th Anniversary at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. It was the show’s fourth year at the Canadian facility and enthusiasm was high among exhibitors of the Arabian and Half-Arabian horses competing during the six-day show. Locally the show received a warm, Manitoba welcome, and sessions from August 11th through the 16th were enjoyed by both visiting horsemen and local Canadians. Andy Sellman led DA Prodigy to roses in the Canadian National Champion Halter Stallions and Valentino’s Angel MI in the National Champion Mares. He also took special rose garlands with Mission WR in Futurity Colts, JR Fransesca in Yearling Fillies, and Ensync FMA in Two-Year-Old Colts. Jeff Schall and Jerry Schall handled many other Halter winners including Champion Futurity Filly, Makahara AF (Jerry), Champion Halter Gelding, Black Opzz, and Champion Yearling Colt, Paragon DDA (Jeff) Marjie Becker teamed Ladies Dance to win the Hunter Pleasure open, while husband Brett won the Western open with Justin Mac V. Cheryl Fletcher won the HA Hunter Pleasure with Garrison DGC and the Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse with WGA Rose Dancer. Jason Krohn rode to roses in Country Jr Horse with Special Thyme and Gordon Potts won the English Jr Horse with GSF Revolution, while Leah Beth Boyd won the English Pleasure open on Ames Celebration and Country English open on Noble Supreme CRF. LaRae Fletcher Powell won the Western Jr Horse on RD Habanero. The horse also won $10,000 from breeder Murray Popplewell of Rae Dawn Arabians for being the first National performance champion sired

Da Valentino was the sire of both the 2014 Canadian National Champion Mare and the 2014 Canadian Reserve National Champion Stallion. DA Prodigy will be at the 2014 U.S. National Show in October.

Enthusiasm and fun made the 2014 Canadian National Championships a great show. As always, the Royal Red ranked among the best Arabian and Half-Arabian horse shows of the year.
