35TH EGYPTIAN EVENT SHOWCASES LOVELY STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN ARABIANS The 35th Anniversary Egyptian Event was special for a great many reasons this year, but most certainly for some of the most extraordinary Egyptian-sired and Straight Egyptian Arabians in the world. The horses came to Lexington to compete for roses and prizes from June 2nd through the 6th at the world famous Kentucky Horse Park.
2015 Gold Champion Filly was Nawaal Al Rayyan (Ansata Sokar x Nadrah Al Rayyan) and Gold Champion Mare was Rayyana Al Aliya (Ashhal Al Rayyan x Asrar Al Rayyan) both shown by Michael Byatt for the Al Rayyan Stud, Doha, Qatar. Both mares were unanimous and both were also chosen Most Classic. Gold Champion Colt was
Montage CCA (Ramses Mishaal Nadir x Bint Ananda CCA). Shown by Frank Sponle for Michael Cimino, Montage CCA was also chosen Most Classic. Also a unanimous judges’ choice for Most Classic and Gold Champion Stallion was the 15-yearold flea-bitten grey Phaaros, a linebred Ruminaja Ali stallion of extreme quality. Shown by Austin Coleangelo for Alfala Stud, Saudi Arabia. Mario Colangelo owned and handled this year’s winning EBC Colt, Jaguar ABC (Jaleel ABC) to the Championship and winnings of over $20,000, while David Reissig led Bint Bint Asila RCA (*Mishaal HP)) to the win in the EBC Fillies for Rock Creek Arabians Of Texas. In a terrific class the filly took her title unanimously. The Halter Mare Championship ATH title went to Angelina Al Jannat with Lane Longley leading for her family. Stallion Champion ATH winner was EB Anasazi shown by Abagael Murphy for owner Gabrielle Polimeier. Hunter Pleasure Champion was the multi-talented, TF Tsanzibar, ridden by Katie Hardwick for Allison Mehta. Andres Castano was both owner and rider of the black stallion and Western Pleasure Champion, Scorpios. The Friday Night Gala and Art Auction was an evening at historic Spindletop Hall, that included an art auction, dance and buffet. The EBC Stallion Auction, the appearance of Nasr Marei signing his new book, The Arabian Horse Of Egypt, and delightful seminars, made the 35th Egyptian Event an unforgettable show.
