S I N C E D AY O N E . . .
since day one - the arbor collective has donated a portion of our profits to groups working to protect and restore forestlands. most of these efforts have gone to hawaii, to help address the issues facing indigenous koa forests. koa wood is iconic for the arbor collective. we’ve utilized sustainably sourced koa from standing-dead or windfall trees, on our snowboards and skateboards since our founding in 1995. in addition, koa is widely accepted as the wood used by the polynesians to build the ffi ifi rst surfboards, over 1,000 years ago. koa wood is the source material behind the surf, skate, snow experience. we owe it our support. with the launch of the arbor collective’s 2014 product lines, a portion of everything we sell will be donated to our new partner in hawaii: legacytrees.org. legacy trees does not just plant trees; they work to restore native koa forests from the soil to the canopy. their mission is to rebuild the koa forest ecosystem, including all the other plant species that are part of a healthy koa forest. they then preserve these restored forests forever as a legacy for future generations. please visit http://www.legacytrees. org to learn more.
