“NOT A STILL LIFE”

HIDEO TANAKA
“NOT
A STILL LIFE”
APRIL 24 – MAY 10, 2025
Arcadia Contemporary is proud to present “Not a Still Life,” the U.S. debut exhibition of Japanese artist Hideo Tanaka (b. 1969). Known for paintings that merge the real and the surreal, Tanaka’s work places lifelike figures and objects within abstract, dreamlike settings—where logic dissolves and quiet introspection takes hold. This exhibition will feature 11 new paintings, continuing his exploration of duality and perception.
“Inspiration could be found everywhere,” Tanaka reflects, “with sceneries, objects, people, and the times experienced. Even while in sleep, my quest continues.”
“Not a Still Life” opens April 24 and will be on view through May 10, 2025. Please join us for the opening reception on Thursday, April 24th, from 4–6 PM.
