Arcadia Contemporary proudly announces the debut U.S. exhibition of new paintings by Spanish artist Fernando Cidoncha. Beginning Thursday, September 26, and continuing through October 13, 2024, this exhibition showcases 16 new paintings where Cidoncha’s figures transcend traditional depictions and embrace a more universal ideal. His idealized figurative images go beyond traditional gender boundaries, embodying universal themes of connection, contemplation, and the mystical. His subjects are rendered with a timeless quality that speaks to the spiritual yearnings of the human heart, often inhabiting spaces where music, dance, and quiet contemplation merge. Drawing inspiration from Florence’s Renaissance heritage, Cidoncha uses the human form as a vessel for spiritual yearning and emotional complexity, offering viewers a space for introspection and deeper connection.
Cidoncha, who resides in Florence, Italy, serves as Vice Director and professor at the Sacred Art School, blending classical technique with philosophical insight in his work. His background in Human Sciences and Philosophical and Artistic Studies from the University of Navarre, along with his specialization in sculpture from the Sacred Art School, deeply informs his artistic practice. Rooted in figurative and representational art, Cidoncha’s work explores the human form not merely as a subject but as a pathway to spiritual awakening and emotional resonance.
Fernando Cidoncha’s new paintings will be on view at Arcadia Contemporary from September 26 to October 13, 2024.
An opening reception will be held on Thursday, September 26, from 6-8 PM, and is open to the public.
