Environmental Education Outreach Facilitator (Student Eco-Advisor) (Summer Student Position) The Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT) with offices through the Northeast of BC works to empower “individuals, businesses and institutions to engage in environmentally sustainable practices. We lead by example, creating awareness, education, inspiring and demonstrating innovative solutions”. Originally formed with a mandate to reduce local solid waste generation through education and practical programs, NEAT’s focus has now expanded to conservation of all resources. NEAT has a vacancy for a Fulltime Summer Student to work as an Environmental Outreach Facilitator during this summer of 2017. Reporting to the Program Coordinator the Environmental Educational Outreach Facilitator will be based in Fort St John and may be required periodically to travel within the Peace River Region District. RESPONSIBILITIES:   

To assist with the planning and implementation of a environmental/conservation educational programs and community outreach including waste reduction and Food Security programs To assist with research, development and delivery of environmental education programs for residents, schools and businesses To give workshops and presentations on composting, green cleaning, food canning, food security, recycling, etc. to groups of all ages

QUALIFICATIONS:  Post-Secondary Education student  Sensitivity to and knowledge of environmental issues  Good communication and public speaking skills.  Ability to communicate with tact and discretion in settling requests, complaints or clarifying information.  Good organizational skills.  Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrated motivation and initiative.  Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.  Flexibility to work varied hours.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and some experience with desktop publishing software.
