Role

PROJECT BRIEF Abha Airport project starts with developing the proposed general layout of the site and all the buildings it contains with focusing on the flexibility of future expansions and increasing the level of service provided by arranging the layout of the buildings in the most optimum way to ensure the comfort and functionality of the airport for its visitors. The new 72 000 square-meter travel terminal in Abha Regional Airport is a priceless chance to redefine the gateway to Asir region through the unique architecture.

18

We developed the architectural concept that was smooth and fluid to express the dynamic spirit of aviation while shaping the building in a way to maximize the airside region to accommodate the increasing number of travelers. Moreover, the drop-off area is shaded and adjacent to the parking structure to facilitate the movement of users and passengers. The design of the terminal roof allows for large continuous open internal areas with vertical openings to provide natural lights throughout the terminal. The aerodynamically shape of the terminal allows the passengers to enjoy the panoramic view of the surroundings as they move through the terminal while maintaining the flexibility of expanding for the future phase 2 and 3. ABHA Airport consists of both airside and landside facilities. The Airside facilities cover air navigation service, taxiways, aprons, air traffic control tower while the Landside facilities include passenger terminal building, Bachelor and Families villas, parking structures, administration buildings, maintenance building, chiller plant building, power house and substation buildings.

PROJECT BRIEF Even though it is a manufacturing building, it requires light and air: through the slits in the surface, both light and air enter the structure and gain their place alongside employees as they work. The three main manufacturing sheds are enclosed in a solid frame, that walks along the faรงade and a hidden buffer zone. This solution keeps the areas united, and yet separate, the formal and official setting, with its aesthetics needs, the walking spaces, with its functional requirements, and the socializing areas, which demand open space, light and calm, and the processing buildings, that own their beauty and rise above the anonymity that usually characterizes these kinds of operating structures.

PROJECT BRIEF Profoundly committed to the community in which architecture finds its inner purpose, I was particularly proud to be part of this children hospital project, in which the design has been awarded the Dubai Building Healthcare 2015 Award “Best Hospital of the Future”. Designing healthcare facility projects is an honorable donation to the city and the people who live there. Being part of a large masterplan, that includes parking, roads and buildings, the Hospital is framed with an anterior glass wall, which develops longitudinally and provides all of the medical departments a double light exposition. Light and air are fundamental in the healing processes, so, starting from the large hall in the main entrance, the Hospital glass façade and anterior wall captures direct light and redistributes it in soft rays, which soften the space and embrace the patient’s full recovery.

PROJECT BRIEF Iconic, innovative and projected into the future, this terminal acquires life through light: when it shines into the structure, it welcomes passengers into a glowing ambiance, in which the space is amplified and radiant. Engaging and avantgarde, this project once again puts design at the service of functionality, building beauty and boldness into an international airport that serves as the national airline hub and a monument to ritual for the millions of passengers that pass through yearly, on their way to visit the South of the Kingdom. We projects and designs a full-service plan that aims to increase annual passenger traffic and build a complete traveling system, which includes parking, roads, a mosque and every other associated airside and landside service.

PROJECT BRIEF The archeological site of AIN-GHAZAL has attracted major attention for years, being one the oldest, largest Neolithic settlements found in the near east. and now with the recent metropolitan plan of Amman placing it in the midst of three growth centers, around a junction connecting the new LRT– Light Railway Transit–with the planned BRT– Bus Railway Transit–an intervention is required to direct the developments in a way that protects {and interprets} the archeological site, tackle the major setbacks of the urban site, and employ the opportunities to their full potential. After all studies, citizens living in Marka (east bank) can be more efficient in the place, more than these in Tareq district (west bank), Their concerns concentrate on environmental issues related to the treatment plant in Ain Ghazal, and services provided for the western blocks of Marka. 66
