MICHELE MERLO ARCHITETTO PROJECTS PORTFOLIO 2007/2012

Portfolio Projects Architecture and Graphics 2007-2012 I was born in November 25th in Milano, Italy. After 20 years of brilliant academical career I got graduated in July 2009, Politecnico di Milano, Prof. Arch Vittorio Garatti. In my years of working experience, both in Italy and abroad, I've been facing several and various kind of projection: from the small scale, with design object or interior design project, to medium scale, with several residential project, to the large scale, with industrial and urban scale projects, from their concept to the executive drawing, bill of quantity and site supervision. My first language is Italian, fluent in English and Spanish, with a good French, and some knowledge of Dutch and Portuguese.

Renewal and Interiors project. Private House. Vergiate (VA), Italy.

Here an architectural proposal for the complete renewal, with Interiors project, of a private apartement at the ground floor of a semi-detached house. The goal is to separate completely the living area from the bedrooms, removing the old bathroom and opening a window into the bearing wall to permit the natural light to flow through and the sight to space in a bigger room. So that a new bathroom could be realized between the two bedrooms by optimizing the unused space of the old corridor, keeping laundry and storage in a separated room.

Graphic concepts for futuristic vision of photovoltaic greenhouses.

A World running thanks to green energy is possible, more than desirable. These futuristic visions of the usage of photovoltaic greenhouses as containers of spaces for the human being not only for coltivation of fruit and vegetables but also for our next everyday. By using an innovative technology, infact, it’s possible to permit the light to pass through the photovoltaic crystalline panel and to create globes, domes, geodetic shapes and trasparent buildings, producing energy and life.

Interiors Projec for an office. Sesto Calende (VA), Italy.

Here are presented two solutions presented to a client for the interior renewal of his office, in Sesto Calende. The chosen solution, realizd in 2012, offers the division of a big room into two new offices, the creation of a new entrance hall with designed furniture as well as the new conference room, the replacement of the floating floor, internal doors and the design of new lamps based on an innovative LED system.

Residential concept project proposal, Milano, Italy.

This project consists in the realization of a residencial building with garages and storages at the ground floor since the impossibility of digging them underneath. Two separated entrances are provided to the two separated building, the first more classical, the second more exclusive. The big terraces of the facades have been staggered by the creation of two different fllor disposition for the even and one for the odd floors, increasing the spacial perception and guiding the sight through Solari Park, not far from there.

Integrated Intervention Plan, Ozzero (MI), Italy.

The project consists in the renewal and re-establishment of an industrial area for several years out of use, just out of the town center. 27000 squared meters of new Industrial warehouse. In addiction has been projected a new 60 rooms hotel to serve the factory workers, drivers and consulents. Some more public spaces have been projected to provide qualitative standards: A small library with auditorium and the restauration of an old icehouse, converted in showroom.

ROCK and CARACOL lamps Milano, Italy.

M0VE Conception, project and modeling of two lamps with LED, low energy, resin technology. The last generation LED works in a symbiotic way with the polyuretanic resin by which they’re covered. It permits the light to be transmitted without andy problem of distorsion or refraction, and, at the same time, protects the LED from crashes, oxidation and other damaging factors.

Revitalizaci贸n del Barrio Col贸n, La Habana, Cuba.

The project is based on the renewal of the popular neighbourhood of Colon, thanks to a new urban masterplan, by the conception of new social housing, temporary houses to saturate the empty spaces and new green areas. A long and deep analysis on the urban texture and on the buildings conditions revealed the suitable spaces for the intervent of demolition and reconstruction and also the way of restauration of the remaining blocks. The apartements, of different dimension, with a balcony distribution and internal patio, are provided of double sided view, passages at the ground floor to favour the fresh air cycle, and solar panels.

Party Roof Terrace Project, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The project is a new conception of the idea of roof terrace. Thanks to the use of a technology coming from the U.S., has been possible to project these modular and easily fitted roof terraces that have just to be composed at will of the customer, and placed with a crane right on the flat roof of an already existing building. No more works are needed; as a matter of fact the G.F.R.P. (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer) structure, with glass resin covering, of the Terrace can be supported by any kind of structure, both with column and load-bearing walls structures. The main idea of these Terraces is the intention of using them mainly for parties, so that they can be placed, used and removed just in one week. The Terrace has to be reached from an extendable spiral staircase either from the main external exit of the customer’s apartment, hooking it up to the window, or directly from the ground floor.

Facade Restyling, Mind the Difference Contest, Milano, Italy.

The solution starts from the idea of intervent on the existing building to improve its aspect, to improve its urban impact creating a deeper rapport with the surrounding block. From the floating wooden floor grow up vertical elements that create a row of portals in the way to create a porticated path, completely open air. Here, starting from the entrance, have been placed meeting areas, the bar lounge and the acces point to the reception. There’s a thread linking these elements: a red metal tape that, embracing every single column, gets bendt and originates flower boxes, baskets tables and seats. From the connection of these elements to the wall, grows a wooden bar facade, substained by a steel structure. This solution provides an appearance solution as well as thermic isolation to the building.

Characters, paintings, drawings & graphics.

A serie of chracters and graphic creations, generated by a twisted mind, created by a strong heand and finally revisited with graphical softwares. Each of them has its own deep meaning, more or less. It has just to be discovered.
