derstand how the process of investigation worked since it wasn’t solely based on the digital exploration, but the physical exploration as well.
Prior to this course it has always been an interest of mine to explore and understand natural phenomenas and how lot of things can be deduced and sollved using their logic. My first exploration was with biomimicry was in a design course where I studied about a specific insect and deduced from its way of living specific parameters that guided the design and made it more effiecient. This course has allowed me to go beyond that, it allowed us to experiment with materials, to genuinely understand any process of transformation by observing and analysing the experiments.
Finally, this course allowed to genuinely un-

3 First Natural Phenomena: Polar Clouds.
Stage I: Identify a phenomenon in nature that addressesthenotionofmobilityandtransformationfortheprimaryobjectiveofdevelopinga shapeshiftingmechanismforresponsiveand What are Polar Clouds? Cloudswhichareformedatatemperatureof less than -85 degree celsius, with a altitude of 15-25 km high. Where to spot them? Because the clouds usually form under the temperaturesof-78Candlower,theyareusually spottedintheAntarctic and thenorthern hemispherewheremountainscangenerate lee waves. What happens for these clouds to form? Ice crystals are stuck to the clouds at a height ofover25,000metershigh;whenthesunlight reflects through them, they emit a spectrum of colors, creating rainbow-like clouds. SunlightRaysUndergo2processestogivethe rainbow-like Appearance: 01. Light Dispersion 02. Light Diffraction-Wave interference

Second Natural Phenomena: Sand Dunes. Group Research.
Why the change of the phenomena? Sincewefoundthatpolarcloudswerelimited when we tried to take different approaches, we decided to explore another natural phenomena; Sand Dunes. General Research: What are Sand Dunes? Sandduneisanyaccumulationofsandgrains shapedintoamoundorridgebythewindunder the influence of gravity. Conditions for its existence: Steady wind regime A dry (less than 10 inches of rainfall annually) environment A supply of loose surface material which is small enough to be transported by the wind. How are they transported? Thesanddunesaretransportedbyfollowing three processes: I. Suspension (1%): II.Saltation (95%): III. Surface Creep (4%): Individual Outcome: AfterthegroupresearchIstartedexperiment-

6 Second Exploration: Experimentation. Trial 01: Experimentation with sand & wind. Why? This experiment was done to observe the researched types of movement and conclude how they are affected. Conclusion: The wind caused the particles to move. However, a pattern wasn’t formed since the wind wasn’t consistent.
Trial 02: Experimentation with salt & sound. Why? This experiment was done to observe another material and force, in order to understand more about the particles’ movement. Conclusion: The sound frequenciy cause the particles to move and form a pattern called; Cymatic Patterns

Rhino Models:
Rhino trial 01: Conclusions from the phenomena: 01. There has to be a force that causes a particle to vibrate. 02. There has to be a point where there is no movement occuring for the pattern to form. 03. The form is non linear. Objective: 01.To create an experiential shell that creates enclosures along the way. 02.To play around with the spacing between the frames and the light. 03. An extension from the bridge. Comments: 01. I exceeded the area given. 02. I should think more about its relationship with the bridge.

Model #3:
Rhino trial 02: Objective: 01.To make the model more of an experiential path. 02. An extension from the bridge. This was the surface created to be further transformed into alternating frames that allows the interplay of light and allows the users to use the structure as seating areas and stands for their artworks.
