This studio is all about the factos you can assign that will dramatically change the design of your building. Our theme as about fire ants and its language between each ant and the other. We studied the dynamic movements and mechanism of the ants to get inspired from them and to form and esign with the langauge of the ants. we started first with a group presentation to better demonstrate the mechanism of the ant then each group memeber will start exploring alone. I was very inspired with the mechanism of the movements of the ants and how they link toghther .

in my years through architecture here in the American University in Cairo, it had a huge impact on my life. Although it is very stressfull and requries alot of hard work and time, it teachs you alot about everything. An architect is a jack of all trades but a master of none. and in my senior year i was introduced to parametric design studio. It was a new realm for me that u explore more about design and yourself as well.

A photo that gives us an idea about how ants build and link togther to each other.

Links in Their Limbs

here i demonstrate how the ants talk togther and communicate. they form very strong links with there limbs to hold the stucture they form togther. We studied these links to understand the mechanism of the ants, and there is an enlarged picture of thr joints between them and what makes these joints very strong. On the limbs there is very smal hair fibers that ives it stron fricton between the ants to hold them togther. Portfolio

Behaviour

Fire ants are known for their ability to organize into remarkable macroscopic structures. They can link their legs together into elastic solids that can resist macroscopic applied loads or self-assemble into rafts to survive floodsv

9 We expermented with magnatic balls to get the feeling of how can small modules create a structure that is built on the connection of small modules between each other. It helped us in getting the language of the fire ants and their mechanism of movements

11 I started to think how the link between the limb can be translated as stucture. it was like a truss structure thet the joints between the limbs are like the joint between trusses. its and abstracts representation demonstrating the joints between ants

moving from the ants joints and space truss, i started to form this concept into modeling. i started to make truss members and to connect between them differently to create different ittrations and forms.
