The intention of this assignment is to move beyond the “snap-shot” or “point and shoot” mentality and towards site photography and the use of imagery as rhetorical and analytical devices that help you see your site in new ways.

The perception of the site is often based on the contact with the micro-examination of things.

The trace of water represents elevation difference, humidity, wind .Water is the map, the plan.

[SPACE CHAIN] Doors and windows are the only removable elements in architecture and imply the motion from one space to another. Abstract doors and windows from the facadeto imply the space in front of and behind them. 003


[SOFTSCAPE - HARDSCAPE] The fabric is the softscape. The machine is the hardscape. Everything is landscape.

Having already described the site as a set of simultaneous conditions through the tradition device of the orthogonal drawing, this project is to transform this condition through the integrationof a foreign spatial and compositional logic. This is not a design for the site, but rather a ‘collage’ of abstract physical and phenomenal conditions.

P1C PROJECTING SITE SECTION OF TIME

[PERSIAN #1] shows the motion of the shift between the keyframes. The images look like a liquid, which never stop changing its location and boundary. To capture such kind of motion, I choose 3 keyframes and the other 3 keyframes after eachone. The intention is to record the motion and shift, and to seize the elusive time. The form is to imply the formless element, water on the site.

The second exercise of Project 3 will further develop constructed interpretations of the initial topographic maps, introducing concepts of terrain manipulation (subtraction) and structural augmentation of site (addition). The exercise builds on iterative practices that have been established with the previous phase and explores themes of abstraction and generation as a continuous, reciprocal practices.

“It is the conquest of the site, the transformation of its topographical nature, that manifests the ontological roots of architecture. After having looked at the Glenealy Flyover in minute detail, walking its slopes, photographing its light, and taking measure of its curving highways - like a tailor preparing a suit - we will now begin the process of proposing an intervention. But what does it mean to propose an intervention at this site? What is special about this place? What does this project consist of? What are the desires that lead us to this highway?

Myanmar struggles with water. It is the wettest capital or primary city in Asia, and one of the wettest in the world. During the tropical monsoons, rain is frequent and heavy, and parts of the city are overwhelmed with problems of drainage. It is a humid and hot climate; visitors struggle for much of the year to be outside for long.

The river and its nearby tributaries are muddy and polluted. Tidal surges of as much as 6 meters occur daily, exposing vast plains of mud.
