Understanding Rural Landscape as an Evolving Productive System
This article conceptualizes rural landscapes as historic productive systems that emerge from specific terrains, representing complex systems where human activities intertwine with the environment to achieve balance. Through the analysis of three case studies: the Rural Park South Milan, the Agricultural Landscape of Pinglin, and the Cinque Terre National Park, it reveals the significance of rural landscapes, demonstrates how these areas have operated in the past and present, and potential future development. These cases illustrate rural landscapes as continually evolving productive systems influenced by various factors, including geography, climate, culture, and economy. They embody tangible and intangible cultural and historic values while also reflecting the intricate and dynamic relationship between humans and the environment.

Atelier 5, founded in May 1955 by five young architects in Bern, initially explored the relationship between form and function, following Le Corbusier's theories. This led to creating timeless and historical buildings. Over decades, the firm's focus expanded from residential construction to a wide range of tasks. Now managed by fourth and fifthgeneration partners (Gabriel Borter, Gianni Chini, Florian Lünstedt, and Franco Petterino), Atelier 5 maintains close collaboration with clients and specialist planners.
