Hi, I'm Nishan

An Architect , Designer and always a student. I am a creative and passionate about imagining, creating, and crafting user-friendly spaces. I constantly seek new experiences to grow as a designer and explore all the perspectives the architectural world has to offer. Architecture transforms how people experience and interact with their surroundings. My journey is about discovering innovative ways to create and transform spaces that resonate with both context and community, all while staying hands-on and deeply connected to the craft.

Brief:

Urban farming is a transformative approach that integrates agricultural practices into urban environments, addressing the growing disconnect between city dwellers and their rural roots. As cities evolve, they increasingly rely on rural areas for food production, which challenges the goal of achieving true urban sustainable cities. The focus on Urban Farming with a specific emphasis on the city of Nagpur ( tier 2 city ) was chosen for its more flexible byelaws ( compared to tier 1 cities ). Using unused public spaces for food cultivation, or infact deliberately creating spaces with the goal of growing own food leads to reducing our carbon footprint and moving us towards a more sustainable urban future.

Intent:

To offer an opportunity to experiment with and implement innovative urban farming techniques. The project aims to set an example by integrating farming practices into urban architecture, envisioning a future where urban farming is a standard amenity.

Location: Nagpur , Maharashtra

Site Area - 7500 sq m

Structure area - 15000 sq m.

The site plays an important role in shaping the structure followed by the sunpath. The two cores divide the entire structure into two wings and hanging garden in between the wings. Since the structure is also aligned diagonally to the opposite ends of the site , there's two wheeler parking space in the north and green recreational space in the south. To meet the required amount of four wheeler parking the structure also has 2 levels of basement. All the different farming units are housed on the different levels of the structure with physical and visual connectivity to green spaces. Since the structure's footprint reduces on each floor as it goes higher , the terraces formed are used as service spaces (solar panels ) for time being and later in future can be used as extensions of the farming units.

The terracotta facade helps in cooling the air inside the halls where different types of urban farming systems are installed. This entire facade works on the princpal of " Evaporative cooling technique "where fans on one side blow the air out of the halls creating vaccum inside thus dragging air in from another side.Now this air that entered through the other side passes through the cones that are cooled by the flowing water creating ventury effect and thus the final air comming out of the cones is cooler.The facade is installed on the southern face of the structure which also provides the shade to the structure from the harsh southern sun throughout the day

Gazebo buit around Shirish tree in the R.G. Area of the plot . the tree has a canopy of 8m and a height of 12m also the trunk diameter of 1m.The foliage provides a good shade and shelter below the tree. during monsoon the foliage along with leaves ,twigs and branches act like a chanel for water to redirect it directly below onto the gazebo glass roof.Further the water flows from the roof towards the centre around the tree giving a water feature wall appeareance. The water then flows from the catchment below to the drainage via pipe without harming the root system of the tree.

RURAL HOSPITAL | semester 9 " NIRAMAY "

BRIEF

Rural hospitals are an integral part of the rural healthcare system.Rural hospitals provide services across the continuum of care from primary care to long-term care. Rural residents have higher rates of poverty, less access to healthcare, and are less likely to have health insurance. All of these factors can lead to poor health outcomes.There is one doctor for every 1,445 Indians as per the country's current population estimate of 135 crores, which is lower than the WHO's prescribed norm of one doctor for 1,000 people. Developed rural infrastructure has the potential to bring improvement in the quality of life. The poorly developed health infrastructure in rural areas would pose a severe threat to the lives of the population dwelling in underdeveloped rural areas. thus:-

INTENT

To provide an integrated curative and preventive health care to the rural population with emphasis on preventive and promotive aspects of health care.The objective of the scheme is to promote availability of safe and conveniently located rural hospital.To learn how to design spaces for rural hospital.To understand relationship between multi-functional activities with sensitivity towards finer characters of the site and context.

The building orientation lies according to the sun direction and the prevailing winds.

The cafe provides shade to the internal courtyard from the harsh afternoon sun

Primary functions

Every floor of the building has terraces connected to its entire length , thus promiting social activity along with a good sun exposure.

Due to internal courtyard the structure overlook the courtyard and the bridge creates a vantage point

THE C-301, flat in mumbai that i lived in for 5 years of my architecture college . a 1 BHK Flat ( 36sqm / 390 sq.ft ) used as a paying guest house, where the owner (a separated man) lives in the bedroom and the living room is occupied by 2 paying guests. All the commone services like the kitchen , bathroom and the toilet are shared amongst all the people living in the house. Since the paying guests live in the living room , they dont get any privacy at all, the way in and out of the house goes right in between the living room ,creating disturbance

The renovation aims to cater the needs of today as well as that of tomorrow. The flat was designed to retain the current functionality with a scope of future functionality without much intervening again.The owner has a son who currently lives and works abroad and might have plans to return in future where this flat can be used as a 1BHK single family unit till then the flat needs to have a space for the owner itself , for the paying guests and the common space.

Further the wall separating the living space and the newly formed room can be knocked down to create a continuous living kitchen and the dining space making it a functional 1BHK flat.

Studying and implementing mumbai dcpr on a site selected within the Mumbai city limits for a Residential tower that includes calculating

Carpet, Builtup, Superbuiltup, Amenity ,Refuge and the area line diagrams .The water holding capacity of the over head tank and the underground tank was calculated according to the norms and requirements

TINY HOUSE

The forests form an integral part of the eco-system where thousands of species dwell within. tall deep woods and wet soil, birds building there nest and water making its way between the stones, the calm breeze kissing the leaves playing its own music. there is no repose like that of such forest. how unintentionally these elements depict the story of their livelihood with each element playing its role. out of all how differently can just one element experience this all together i.e. flying over the the woods at great height. birds are ubiquitous and highly interactive members of forest communities. the design encounters a similar experience that of a bird flying across these mysterious and trapped woods, having the complete view of the scene below and finally achieving freedom at the cliff. like the bird gets the complete view of the area from above, so does the tiny house of bird on the climb with tall trees around and flowing water at the other edge. However, when birds can live in a small nest, why can't humans? as a bird is sufficiently joyful in its nest providing it shelter and warmth without cutting down trees, similarly our tiny house caters to the principle needs of the user between the trees with the similar experience as that of a bird. the house consists of basic living private and semiprivate spaces provided by water services viz. the nearby waterbody carried through tanks and electrical services viz. a wind turbine. when all of such needs can be fulfilled within a tiny house ,why does man need to cut down trees , hamper nature and eco-systems and make huge bungalows?

All the data from the documentations in Wai and Kumbharwada were retraced on gateway sheets using isograph pens of different thickness ( 0.1 , 0.3 , 0.5 , 0.8 ) to display lineweights and create a rythm in the sheets.

" Plaster bust sculpture " used for a prosthetic model ( a helmet ) in the design to meet the brief of the studio.Pop bandages were layered on the face and coutours were achieved , then the mold was ready and the plaster mix was poured into the mold and hence the bust was created.
