Ordinary Objects Buildings in the city forms our daily vision, becoming a nature of habitats in cities. Besides the landmarks, most of the buildings just stand there modestly, quietly become the most natural thing to us. In Hong Kong, a lot of old urban district is being viewed with eyes of romance, under the name of nostalgia, they become more landmark than the landmarks. Such as the old Kowloon walled city in the past, such as the Monster Building in Quarry Bay. But before they had been added on with the concepts, they were the most ordinarily built buildings, there was nothing worth mentioning, just “that’s it”. If we extend the discussion to the famous historical city around the world, like Kyoto, like Venice, we all admire their historic beauty, we imagine standing there with a samurai, or steeping into Carnival of medieval times. Still, once, those city were the most advanced, most contemporary lily built. So how about our modern city? What about Tokyo? What if we look at it after a hundred years? What concept will we put on those once contemporary urban landscape? This project “Ordinary Objects” aims to research for and explore those modest and contemporary buildings, which forms the origin and landscape of every city-habitat. Before they are being conceptualised, to look at them slowly. Perhaps to also imagine how they will be viewed after a hundred or a thousand years, why not?

Night Play It is an important time for Hong Kong to be observed at Night. Not only for it’s well-know attractive illumination, night time can also be read as “Free Time” of a lot of citizens where it is their moment to act for fulfilling their desires. The activities pops out in the dark to illustrate the acts almost like art pieces, it’s the very moment to materialise the desire.
