RESEARCH COLLABORATOR (m/f) Architecture Workroom (AW) is expanding its team with a research collaborator to work on a number of ongoing projects.You will be part of a dynamic and committed team of architects and researchers. As research collaborator, you will be responsible for managing, providing specific support and implementing one or more projects within AW. What is Architecture Workroom? AW is a cultural think-and-do tank for innovation in architecture and urban planning. As initiator, mediator and platform, AW creates the space and conditions for innovative architecture and for design research. AW consists of a team of ten architect researchers and is led by three partners. The longer strategic work lines of AW focus on visionary housing, productive landscapes, caring neighbourhoods and the productive city. As a platform for design research and knowledge sharing, AW contributes to the broad social debate, to professional practice and knowledge development, and to the renewal of urban development and policy. Brussels, small cosmopolitan and Capital of Europe, is the ideal base - also often the laboratory - for AW to contribute to the national and international debate on shaping the urbanising world in which we live. Job description The project leader/research collaborator: - Jointly develops the project definition and preparatory research in the context of strategic, urban planning design studies and (cultural) productions that AW wishes to achieve in association with its partners. - Works closely and consults with partners and other team members. - Immerses him or herself in the current urban planning debate, and documents and compiles an inventory of the discourse and best practices at home and abroad. - Coordinates prospective design research processes and takes care of the organisation and practical elaboration of the actions. - Maintains contact with the partners, and architects and researchers involved. - Analyses and synthesises the work delivered and

communicates with professionals, authorities and the press. - Monitors the budget, planning and administration of the projects and provides support for the organisation’s operations as a whole. Profile For this role we are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented candidates. - Holds a Master’s Degree in architecture, urban planning, spatial planning or similar acquired through experience. - (Experience and) talent in organising and management - (Experience and) talent in the field of design and/or implementing urban planning projects - Interested in culture production (organising exhibitions, public events, producing books, etc.) - Possesses a vision and knowledge of the theory, practice and the latest developments related to architecture and urban planning - Is results-oriented and able to perform well under considerable pressure - Is able to work independently and as part of a team - Is prepared to work in an international context and travel regularly - Is highly flexible in terms of working practices and working hours - Fluent in Dutch, French and/or English - Good writing skills and knowledge of basic software packages - Knowledge of CAD and GIS software is an asset Offer We offer a collaboration on freelance basis.
