PROJECT INFO
There four projects in this portfolio, including three different types of architecture: the gallery museum, residential project and eco resort. At the last, there is the architecural documentation to show the skill and the understanding of the structure and the construction of the project. My design idea is come from the site context to encourage pedestrains on the street and the public realm to use the open space inside and outside of the design. Also I like to start with some questions as my personal interest of the project.

1. Gowanus Urban Culture Gallery
HOW TO TAKE THE CANAL INTO DESIGN TO SHOW THE RESPECT AND THE HONOR TO THE HISTORY OF THE SITE. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT VALUE AND KNOWLEDGE TO SHARE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. HOW TO CONNECT PUBLIC INTO THE GALLERY AND HOW TO PASS THE HERITAGE TO THE NEXT GENERATIONS.
1. Gowanus Urban Culture Gallery Gowanus Canal is manmade water feature to use for shipping. Along the canal, there are many manufactories set up during the economic boom. After the prospect of the industiral revolution, the canal became a derelict waste dumping place. Therefore the issue of the revitalising of Gowanus Area was raised. The study I choosed is to take the culture as the primary aspect to design the project and give a solution of the Gowanus Canal.

1. Urban Mapping Analysis study Urban mapping analysis study is to learn what is the problem and the opportubity of the site location. This mapping study is aim to understand the urban fabric and the unique characters in the local area. Through the current condition of the mapping analysis, the proposal of the masterplan of this area including the transport network, urban zoning and the green space study. 1. Problem Lack of Permeability: The current condition of the Canal Area in terms of the transport and the permeability is very needy and the transport system is around the outside of the canal and there are only but there is the opportunity to use the Canal as the part of the transport system,
therefore, the ferry station is a good option to connect to the inner area around the Canal. 2. Problem Lack of functionality: The most of the building type is the manufactory, around the factory there are commercial, residential and mixed use. The opportunity for the Gallery center to satisfied with the culture life. 3. Problem Lack of Green space: This the current layout of the green space around the Canal area. In the design of the gallery the green garden and green roof is good idea to increase the greenery.
1. Problem Lack of Permeability
2. Problem Lack of functionality
3. Problem Lack of Green Space
1. Urban Mapping Masterplan Proposal Urban Masterplan Proposal of the Canal area is to tackle the problems I found in the mapping analysis. The First one is the lack of the permeability around the Canal, therefore, the Canal will be use as a part of the transport system. Also the bicycle path is increased in the future of Gowanus. It is net form and full fill the city pattern and also along the Canal side, to increase the canal with the people life. The second one is to highlight the culture life in the Canal area, such as the music, the food and the art life and also the crafts. The culture life is the unique value of the Gowanus to celebrate with the next generation. The third one is to create more green space as a park, a canal walk park and the green garden, which is increase the connection of the gallery with people.
2. SolutionCreate more culture life
1. Solution Increase Permeability
3. SolutionIncrease Green Space
1. Project Design Proposal The side plan of the project This project is located on the edge of the Canal, there are four primary functions of the project, to connect the canal as the stop of the Canoes & Kayaks on the Canal side; to create the learning envrionment for local families, to celebrate the Canal history as the exhibition; at last to set the platform of the performance station for Gowanus
