BRAD PRESTBO SENIOR ASSOCIATE SASAKI ASSOCIATES Prestbo is an architect with over 19 years of experience working on the nation’s most prestigious campuses. As chair of Sasaki’s Technical Resource Group, he shares his knowledge of design and detailing to promote better practices. Prestbo co-founded BSA’s MakeTANK Committee and is involved in the Construction Specifier’s Institute. He participates as a design critic at area colleges and universities, and lectures on detailing and bringing maker culture into the design process.

BRAD BARNETT CO-DIRECTOR SASAKI STRATEGIES Barnett is Co-Director of Sasaki Strategies working at the intersection of urban design, data visualization, and technology. He leads the Strategies team’s work integrating digital strategy and data into Sasaki’s multidisciplinary design practice. Prior to Sasaki, Barnett worked at Calthorpe Associates and PlaceMatters, where he led a portfolio of projects for HUD’s groundbreaking Sustainable Communities Initiative. ANN M BEHA FOUNDING PRINCIPAL ANNA BEHA ARCHITECTS With work marked by historical, cultural and educational content, Beha is design principal for the United States Embassy, Athens, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. She has led preservation and adaptive use projects at University of Chicago, Princeton, Cornell Law School, MIT, and the Mary Baker Eddy Library. A graduate of Wellesley College and MIT, Ann was a Loeb Fellow at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, Distinguished Visiting Professor at the City College of New York, and currently serves on the Industry Advisory Group for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations. Ann is also an AIA Fellow. PLATT BOYD FOUNDER / CEO BRANCH TECHNOLOGY Boyd practiced as an architect for 15 years before founding Branch Technology. His fascination with natural beauty and amazing structures led to the initiation of a new technology 3

STEPHEN DESIMONE PRESIDENT DESIMONE CONSULTING ENGINEERS DeSimone specializes in computer modeling of complex formed structures and has developed several techniques that enable complex surface information to be migrated from one application to another. Other areas of expertise include wind engineering, the use of composite systems, and the design of high-rise concrete structures. Throughout his tenure, DeSimone has focused on the design of residential and highrise projects and has been responsible for award-winning projects such as HL23, IAC Headquarters, and The Standard. He is an active member of the engineering community and was a founding member of the Structural Engineers Association of New York. DAVID FIXLER FOUNDING PRINCIPAL DAVID FIXLER ARCHITECTURE PLANNING AND PRESERVATION Fixler is a Principal at David Fixler Architecture Planning and Preservation. Formerly a principal at EYP specializing in the rehabilitation of modern structures including works such as Aalto’s Baker House and Saarinen’s Kresge Auditorium and Chapel at MIT, Louis Kahn’s Richards Laboratories and the UN Headquarters in New York. Fixler has taught, lectured, and published internationally. He holds leadership roles in a variety of global preservation organizations and is an AIA Fellow. JASCHA FRANKLIN-HODGE CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER CITY OF BOSTON Franklin-Hodge leads the city’s efforts to enhance online service delivery, empower city employees with effective digital tools, and improve access to technology and the internet for all Boston neighborhoods. Franklin-Hodge cofounded Blue State Digital (BSD) in 2004. He oversaw the development of BSD Tools, an online fundraising, email, and CRM platform that powered the digital presence of President Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. Since 2009, he has served as an advisor to Code for America, a nonprofit which connects technologists with cities to solve civic challenges and encourage innovation in government technology. Franklin-Hodge studied computer science at MIT and lives in Boston.

VINICIUS GORGATI CHAIR OF THE CAMPUS STUDIO SASAKI Gorgati is the Chair of the Campus Studio at Sasaki and plays a leading design role in the firm’s institutional practice. Collaborating with interior designers, landscape architects, planners, and urban designers, Gorgati synthesizes of all disciplines through this process. Gorgati has over 25 years of experience creating award-winning work. He is a registered architect and holds an M. Arch in urban design from Harvard University and a B.A. in architecture from the University of Sao Paulo. PAUL E. KASSABIAN STRUCTURAL ENGINEER SIMPSON GUMPERTZ & HEGER Kassabian is a structural engineer and Associate Principal at SGH working on a wide range of structural systems such as buildings, bridges, and sculptures. Kassabian develops innovative methods of design and construction using SGH’s in-house materials lab, computational design approaches, and digital fabrication techniques. He taught graduate structural engineering students at MIT and teaches the Structures I course at Harvard GSD. ANDREA LOVE DIRECTOR OF BUILDING SCIENCE PAYETTE As Director of Building Science at Payette, Love works across all projects to improve building performance. She was the Principal Investigator for the AIA Upjohn Grant on thermal bridging and lectures at MIT Architecture. Love is a licensed architect with a BArch from Carnegie Mellon, and Masters in Building Technology from MIT. She is a member of the COTE Advisory Group and chairs the 2030 Working Group. DAVID MANFREDI FOUNDING PRINCIPAL ELKUS MANFREDI ARCHITECTS Manfredi is nationally recognized for his planning, design, and placemaking work. As a founding principal of Elkus Manfredi Architects, Manifredi has been privileged to work with a variety of institutional, higher education, and corporate industry leaders from across the country on all types of planning and building projects. His work is driven by interaction and collaboration with the full range of stakeholders, and he excels at community presentation and

consensus building with diverse groups.David is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with Bachelor degrees in both English and Architecture, and the University of Chicago, where he received an M. Arch degree. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a member of the Boston Society of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional. KYLE MARTIN ASSOCIATE VDC SPECIALIST TOCCI BUILDING COMPANIES Martin is a Virtual Design and Coordination Specialist at Tocci Building Companies focusing on digital model coordination and visualization. As a proponent of visual programming, he develops tools for improved design intent translation, cost engineering, and process optimization. Martin is also an adjunct instructor at the Boston Architectural College and founder of the Dynamo-litia Boston user group. COLIN MCCRONE DIRECTOR OF DESIGN TECHNOLOGY SAFDIE ARCHITECTS McCrone is the Director of Design Technology at Safdie Architects where he guides the firm’s technology initiatives, leads internal training, and implements design computation for projects. Previously, McCrone was the Computational Design Evangelist for the Dynamo product team at Autodesk. McCrone has taught computational design and BIM at the California College of the Arts and was a researcher in energy performance modeling for early-stage architectural design at Cornell University. DAN O’BRIEN PROFESSOR NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY O’Brien is assistant professor in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, and codirector of the Boston Area Research Initiative. His work focuses on the ways that researchers, policymakers, and practitioners can work together to leverage modern digital data (i.e., “Big Data”) and technology to better understand and serve cities. His research focuses on the behavioral and social dynamics of urban neighborhoods, including how communities maintain the urban commons.

ERIK VERBOON PRINCIPAL / STRUCTURES WALTER P. MOORE

O’Hara is facade director for the Skins Group, a division of Studio NYL, established to provide full service facade design specializing in thermal modeling, moisture/ condensation analysis, and in-depth detailing. Although Studio NYL is recognized for its skins work with cutting-edge glass and glazing, their team also specializes in digitally fabricated metal skins, GFRC, reinforced polymers, stone, ultra high performance concrete, terra cotta, and traditional precast. O’Hara is currently working on multiple projects in the Boston area.

Verboon is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Walter P Moore’s New York office. Trained in both architecture and engineering, he brings a deep global experience with a focus on the design of complex, high performance building envelopes. Verboon has worked with high-performance double skin facades, geometrically complex composite facades, and custom unitized enclosures for both new buildings and retrofits. His portfolio expresses both national and international work with extensive experience in the New York market.

STEPHANIE RANDAZZO DWYER PRINCIPAL MACHADO SILVETTI Randazzo Dwyer is a Principal at Machado Silvetti with twenty two years of experience in the field. Randazzo Dwyer has a diverse portfolio of cultural, educational and housing projects. She is currently working on the Denver Art Museum’s North Building Project which includes the extensive renovation of the Gio Ponti-designed North Towers. Dwyer has managed complex projects throughout all phases of design and construction. Her most recent efforts focus on master planning and programming for arts and cultural facilities on projects such as the Addison Gallery of American Art at Phillips Academy Andover, the MassArt Bakalar and Paine Galleries, the Kennedy Theatre and Studio Arts Building at Hamilton College and The McNay Museum of Art. AMIN TADJSOLEIMAN SENIOR DESIGNER NADAAA Tadjsoleiman received his Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Tehran. He established VAV studio in 2003 designing and executing several institutional, commercial, and residential projects and winning several national and international awards and recognitions. He joined NADAAA in 2013 and has served as project manager and designer for projects including the Saint-Gobain North America Innovation Center, Marble Block Redevelopment Study, and The Beacon Residential tower in Cleveland.

CATHY WISSINK SENIOR DIRECTOR TECHNOLOGY & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT MICROSOFT Wissink is Director of Technology & Civic Engagement at Microsoft New England. Her job focuses on partnering with civic leaders in greater Boston to use technology to solve large challenges and capitalize on impactful and inclusive opportunities. Wissink works directly with local tech leaders and policy influencers on issues critical to both Microsoft and the tech sector. She represents Microsoft with major tech associations, and develops programs on key issues in the tech policy space. Wissink also plays a key role in overseeing the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center - New England. MELISSA WONG SENIOR ASSOCIATE THORNTON TOMASETTI Wong is a Senior Associate at Thornton Tomasetti. Her work focuses on the design and construction of façade and enclosure systems. She has more than ten years of experience providing design consultation, detail development, specifications, shop drawing review and on-site facade inspections for a variety of envelope systems including glazed curtain walls, point supported glazing, rainscreen cladding, precast, brick masonry, prefabricated panels, roofing and waterproofing for both new and existing buildings. Wong holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York City. She is fluent in Cantonese.
