Darling is CEO and cofounder of The Architect’s Newspaper, celebrating its 16th year. The A|N media group consists of print and digital publications covering architecture and design news, as well as the Facades+ and TECH+ conferences. As A|N’s publisher, Darling won the AIA National Collaboration Award, Grassroots Preservation Award, and ASLA NY’s President’s Award. She began her publishing career as director of print production for The Gap’s European markets. She holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin.

DIONNE DARLING Associate Publisher, The Architect’s Newspaper

Dionne Darling is the associate publisher for The Architect’s Newspaper. Darling has over 25 years experience in business development and sales and handles B2B relationships across the west and southwest regions for A|N. She lives in Arlington, Texas.

Kramer has been with The Architect’s Newspaper for over 6 years, expanding Facades+ from a single conference to a dozen. With A|N, she has co-founded the new TECH+ Expo. Previously, Kramer was Co-Chair of Union Square Community Coalition. A Miami Beach native, Kramer graduated from Parsons School of Design.

MARTY WOOD Program Director, The Architect’s Newspaper

Wood is the Program Director for the Facades+ and TECH+ conferences. He also helps manage special projects and initiatives for The Architect’s Newspaper and helps facilitate the overall efforts of the marketing and sales teams. Additionally, he is an contributing writer for design publications such as The Architect’s Newspaper and Metropolis. Wood has a B.A in Communications from San Francisco State University and an M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation.

Architectural Designer, Corgan

A project designer with Perkins+Will, Friebele also contributes to Texas Architect, The Architect’s Newspaper, and D Magazine. He serves on the Board of Directors for AIA Dallas, is a member of the Texas Architect Publications Committee, and has been recognized both with the 2017 Associate Award from the AIA and the 2016 Associate of the Year from AIA Dallas. Friebele has a MArch from Kansas State University.

Loh works with the commercial studio at Corgan. Recent project experience includes the Toyota North American Headquarters in Plano, with a particular focus on the technical design of the exterior skin and building envelope. He serves as a committee member to COLUMNS magazine, a publication of AIA Dallas. Loh has a MArch from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Design Director, Corgan

Regional Sustainable Design Leader, Perkins+Will

Armstrong has 30-plus years experience with diverse projects worldwide, including Toyota North American HQ, Cityline Mixed-Use Development, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas HQ, Exxon Mobil HQ, airports for Shanghai, Dallas, Los Angeles, and the new Parkland Hospital. The recipient of over 40 awards, Armstrong is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, and serves on the school’s advisory council.

PETER J BRASTER

Dickinson is the regional sustainable design leader for the Texas practice of Perkins+Will and a member of the firm’s Sustainable Design Council, applying her knowledge to a variety of project types—healthcare, education, civic, and corporate. She cochairs the firm-wide Material Performance Lab and is a member of the USGBC North Texas Council, AIA Dallas’ Committee on the Environment, and the Dallas 2030 District’s Leadership Council.

CRAIG KOLSTAD

Director of Special Projects, City of Plano

The City of Plano’s Director of Special Projects, Braster oversees the ongoing redevelopment of Downtown Plano, including the $3 billion Legacy West development. Braster began his career in civil engineering for large transportation projects in New York and California. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the North Texas Urban Land Institute TOD Product Council, and the International Economic Development Council.

Design Director, HKS

Kolstad is responsible for HKS’s overall design vision, assisting project teams to establish and execute an appropriate design strategy for each client. His international career spans over 20 years, encompassing sustainability, master planning, urban design, transportation, and infrastructure, as well as mixed use, super–high rise towers, hospitality, commercial office, and healthcare. He has a MArch from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

MICHAEL MALONE

Founding Principal, Malone Maxwell Borson

Sustainability Process Manager, Lake|Flato

Malone and his award-winning firm specialize in retail and commercial interiors, single and multi-family residential, facilities for worship, and corporate marketing centers. In 2013 the firm was recognized as “Firm of the Year” by AIA Dallas. A frequent contributor to professional journals and a contributing editor for Texas Architect magazine, he is also the author of The Architect’s Guide to Residential Design (McGraw Hill).

Squire works with all Lake|Flato teams to establish sustainability goals, analyze designs with simulation software, and collect post-occupancy performance data. In 2012, Squire was awarded the Eskew+Dumez+Ripple Research Fellowship to study building post-occupancy energy performance and sustainable design processes. He received a BA, environmental studies, from Oberlin College and a MArch from Tulane University.

MIKHAIL MOYA Design Director, OMNIPLAN

Moya leads project teams across a broad range of types and scale, most notably the Liberty Mutual regional offices. His deep knowledge of design, construction, materials, and engineering fuel his passion for projects that are complex, multi-use, and community-centric. A LEED AP and AIA member, Moya was chosen for the 2016 AIA Dallas Advanced Leadership Program. He earned his architecture degree in the Philippines (his home country), graduating at the top of his class.

BRADFORD PAYNE Designer, Marlon Blackwell Architects

Since joining the firm in 2008, Payne’s responsibilities have expanded to project management and involvement with several award-winning projects including the Saint Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church. He is currently project manager for the Fayetteville High School addition and renovation and the Montessori Elementary School. Payne has a MArch from North Carolina State University. He is finished with his IDP hours and is soon to begin his licensure exams.

COY TALLEY Principal, Talley Associates

Talley is responsible for the overall design leadership of his firm. He leads a collaborative planning process and remains actively involved in a variety of projects including the programming, master planning, and design of academic campuses, healthcare facilities, corporate facilities, hospitality, large mixed-use development projects, museums, and parks.

RIVES TAYLOR Sustainability Director, Gensler

Taylor directs Gensler’s firmwide design performance teams and initiatives. A global expert in resilient, high-performance, and sustainable design, he is a widely published author and speaker, and a faculty member of Rice University and the University of Houston. Taylor founded the Houston Chapter, USGBC, and received the Center for Houston’s Future’s Impact Award. A member of the AIA Fellowship, Rives has a BA in architecture from Rice and a MArch from MIT.
