SEATTLE CO-CHAIRS CARSTEN STINN | PERKINS+WILL | SR DESIGNER, SR ASSOCIATE | SEATTLE CO-CHAIR Carsten has worked as a designer and architect since 1994. At Perkins + Will his projects range from higher education, science + technology, and civic to commercial and transportation work. Carsten is currently working on mixed-use highrise projects in Seattle. He believes that the design of aesthetically refined, technically sound, and environmentally responsive buildings has a direct positive influence on our wellbeing and quality of life.
MIC PATTERSON | ENCLOS | VP OF STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT | SEATTLE CO-CHAIR Mic has concentrated his professional and academic career on advanced facade technology, structural glass facades, and sustainable building practices. Recognizing weakness in facade education as endemic to architectural curricula, he is committed to bridging his professional work with academic pursuits. He has taught, written extensively, and lectured internationally on diverse aspects of advanced facade technology. He is the author of Structural Glass Facades and Enclosures, published by Wiley.
SPEAKERS PETER ALSPACH | ARUP | PRINCIPAL, GLOBAL LEADER ENVIRONMENTAL & BUILDING PHYSICS Peter is a principal and the mechanical discipline leader in Arup’s Seattle office. He is a specialist in the design of low energy buildings, focusing on HVAC, energy systems, thermal comfort, and the indoor environment. These areas intersect in the building facade, where the integration of systems becomes critical for project success. As a mechanical engineer, building physicist, and facade engineer, Peter brings these skills to develop holistic solutions to the built environment.
DANIEL BRINDISI | ZGF ARCHITECTS | ASSOCIATE Daniel is a project architect with over 12 years of leadership in the detailed design, consultant coordination, and document production of significant projects in public and private sectors. Passionate about creating high-performance buildings, Daniel played an integral role in the design of the LEED Platinum-certified Federal Center South Building 1202.
SANGEETHA DIVAKAR | ENERGY STRATEGIST CONSULTANT Sangeetha has more than ten years of combined experience in the fields of architecture and energy modeling. She is committed to providing seamless integration between the two disciplines. Sangeetha provides process oversight to effectively use energy modeling and uses energy simulation to provide design insight. Sangeetha is a co-founder of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) Seattle chapter. She graduated from the University of Oregon.
RICHARD GREEN | FRONT, INC. | PRINCIPAL Richard is a facade specialist with over 25 years of experience. He has participated in each stage of a building enclosure’s life-cycle, from conceptual work to remediation. Richard is the principal for Front in Seattle and provides technical oversight for the company globally. A champion of making safe glass design readily available, he is the technical chair of the ASTM committee for the Structural Use of Glass in Buildings and a member of the ASTM E1300 committee. He has designed several mass-customized projects with integrated cross-platform design, engineering, documentation, and direct-to-fabrication implementation.
STÉPHANE HOFFMAN | MORRISON HERSHFIELD | PRINCIPAL As professional engineer with a Master’s degree that combines structural engineering, building science and architecture, Stéphane blends scientific analysis with an understanding of aesthetics. He has consulted on projects throughout North America and led the expansion of Morrison Hershfield’s building science practice. He now holds the position of VP for Technical Development, and leads their Facade Engineering Team focusing on conceptual design of cladding and glazing systems.
DEVIN KLEINER | PERKINS+WILL | PROJECT ARCHITECT Devin leads the Sustainable Design Initiative for the Seattle office. He has worked on numerous sustainable projects, receiving awards including the AIA Washington Civic Design Awards and the Living Building Challenge competition. In addition to leading the “Green Team,” Devin is involved in numerous community organizations. He is a member of Seattle 2030 Roundtable, the University of Washington Professional Advisory Council, and he is a professional stakeholder committee member for Seattle 2030 District.
DAVID SADINSKY | NBBJ | SENIOR ASSOCIATE David’s 18 years of design experience are highlighted by creative solutions: transformative, mechanized structures that change with climate, need, or purpose. His past clients include moveable architecture for Boeing Aircraft, El-Al Airlines, ANA, Egypt Air, American Airlines, and Cape Canaveral. A designer and fabricator, he has led the installations of the mechanization components for retractable sports-stadia roofs and fields including Reliant Stadium, Minute Maid Park, and University of Phoenix.
JEFFREY VAGLIO | ENCLOS | DIRECTOR, ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY STUDIO Jeffrey is Director of the Advanced Technology Studio (ATS) of Enclos, a collaborative think-tank that is devoted to investigating the future of facade engineering and project delivery strategies. He has participated in the design and engineering of numerous structural glass facades, skylights, and geometrically complex enclosures. Jeffrey is completing a PhD Candidate in Architecture at the University of Southern California, where he has studied innovation theory and leadership extensively.
JOSHUA ZABEL | KREYSLER & ASSOCIATES | VP, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Josh has been with Kreysler & Associates, a world-class composites fabrication facility, since 2005. He has spent most of his tenure as Director of Digital Fabrication, managing the digital and CAD/CAM aspects of their operations. He has developed an expert understanding of composites, and is at the forefront of AEC industry efforts to advance their architectural potential. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and has earlier design experience at several boutique architecture firms around California.
