Bailey has extensive experience in all aspects of building design and detailing, from facades to feature elements, materiality to systems integration, conceptualization to construction administration. His strong design capabilities enable him to not only bring intelligent and creative solutions to each project, but also develop the initial concept through planning, documentation, and construction with an emphasis on materiality, exterior-envelope design, lighting design, building-systems integration, and exterior and interior project detailing.

Drosos has over 25 years’ experience overseeing quality control and the technical aspects of large-scale sports and entertainment projects. His knowledge and hands-on experience working with project construction teams and owner groups gives him invaluable perspective on the technical aspects of project delivery. He has coordinated the design and construction of complex sports facilities with construction budgets ranging from $5 million to over $1.5 billion.

SPEAKERS TODD AULT Associate Vice President, Gould Evans

An expert in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Ault works on large commercial developments as well as interpreting the nuances of residential municipal code and building science. The result is a deep understanding of the issues involved in designing buildings and developing property. In his 12 years with Gould Evans, Ault has designed some of the firm’s largest projects including: Cerner’s new Innovations Campus in Kansas City, Missouri; Cerner’s Continuous Campus in Kansas City, Kansas; and NOAA’s Laboratory in La Jolla, California.

ANTHONY BIRCHLER Vice President of Engineering, Zahner

Since 1998, Birchler has been responsible for designing many of the patented systems used to complete bold architecture throughout the world. He shares responsibility for developing two out of five patents held by Zahner, and is best known for the ongoing work in developing the ZEPPS® Technology, the firm’s dual-curvature building system. Birchler works with owners, engineers, architects, and general contrac-

tors, providing intelligent problem solving for the production of complex facades.

DAVID FORD Managing Director, Walter P. Moore

Ford oversees the Diagnostics Group in Walter P Moore’s Kansas City office. He has worked on diversified aspects of forensic engineering by evaluating and designing repairs for distressed structures and has over 15 years’ experience related to building science, facades, building-envelope moisture management, roofing systems, below-grade waterproofing, and parking garages. A licensed engineer in seven U.S. states and Canada, Ford is Chair of the Building Enclosure Council Kansas City Chapter and a voting member of the American Society of Testing and Materials.

DEBRA FORD Vice President, Gould Evans

With over 30 years’ comprehensive architecture experience, Ford’s background includes architectural design, master planning, cost estimating, preparation of construction drawings, and construction administration.

Highly skilled in the execution and management of complex projects, Ford’s work is wide-ranging and includes the Cerner Corporation and numerous higher education projects on a variety of campuses.

ANGIE GEIST GAEBLER President, STRATA

Gaebler’s award-winning work includes a diverse body of preservation, rehabilitation, and adaptive-use projects. Her technical expertise has proven beneficial when designing sensitive and creative solutions for architecturally and culturally significant historic properties, including governmental entities, private developers, community groups, and individual owners. She also consults for rehabilitation, additions, and new construction projects when historic context may be impacted.

BRIAN GARVEY Associate, SFS Architecture

Garvey’s experience spans all aspects of design and construction. He thrives on diversity of project types and scales, and the opportunity to play different roles in their creation. Over his architectural career, he has honed his talent for communicating design work graphically through 2-D and 3-D digital media, and a passion for sustainability. This organized, responsible nature allows Garvey to work effectively within each discipline of a project team.

RYAN GEDNEY Senior Vice President, HOK

Gedney is a senior vice president and senior project designer with HOK’s global Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice. His projects have won 20+ awards from organizations including the Urban Land Institute, American Institute of Architects and American Society of Landscape Architects. In 2016, Gedny was named to Building Design + Construction’s 40 under 40 class.

BRYAN GROSS Principal, Helix Architecture + Design

PHIL KOLBO Associate Principal, Populous

As a Populous Intelligence Ambassador, Kolbo leads the parametric modeling and computational design group for the firm’s North America region, creating and streamlining BIM tools unique to sports and convention center design. While at Populous, he has worked on the MasterCard Center for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the New Arrowhead Stadium, OKC Convention Center, DC United’s Audi Field, San Antonio Convention Center, Orlando City Soccer Stadium, and Minnesota United FC’s Allianz Field.

RYAN MCCABE Project Architect, BNIM

McCabe is a designer and project architect whose work translates complex programmatic challenges into high-performance design solutions. He has contributed to cultural, higher-education, government, and office projects both nationally and internationally. Recently, he led the design and facade development for the expansion of the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, Uganda. McCabe received a MArch from The University of Kansas.

STEVE MCDOWELL Director of Design, BNIM

As BNIM’s Director of Design, McDowell is an innovator, and his workplace is a laboratory for exploring ideas related to site, environment, and technical investigation. He believes in a lively exchange of thoughts to stimulate exploration and sustain innovation. McDowell maintains that good design is about people–their health, productivity, and lifting the human spirit through design. His work is setting new standards in human-purposed, highperformance design. Under his leadership, BNIM received the AIA Architecture Firm Award in 2011.

SILVIA PRANDELLI Enclosure Technical Director, Walter P Moore,

Gross leads the design team on over two million square feet of prominent and complex projects. Most recently, he oversaw the design of the new Health Education Building at The University of Kansas Medical Center. Gross has a B.S. in both Environmental Design and Architecture from The University of Kansas as well as a M.A. in Architectural History & Theory from the Architectural Association, London.

Prandelli specializes in complex geometric skins and the research of alternative materials for enhanced performance. Her project experience ranges from residential, high-rise, and commercial developments to cultural, civic, and public-use projects in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. She holds a Master’s Degree in Building Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano.

Alterman joined STI Firestop in 2015 and has extensive experience in construction. He is a certified at Level 2 of Firestop Instructional Training (FIT II). He has conducted firestop trainings for the International Firestop Council and STI to a variety of groups including; architects, engineers, consultants, code officials, inspectors and all types of trades.

Jacobson has been devoted to the laminated glass industry for the last 10 years, focusing on architectural applications and the photovoltaic industry. In addition to providing training on laminated glass to architects, designers, engineers, and contractors, he also serves on ASTM and GANA committees for glazing.

Lunch will be served and up to 3 CEU credits will be provided (1–2 credits per presentation), directly following the Facades+AM forum.
